Drugs should be legalized - it's an utter waste of time, money, and manpower on a war that cannot be won. Plus, it's ridiculous to throw people in jail over drug use. There are people serving more time for drugs than murder. Prescription drugs are just as harmful but are legal. It's probably the lobbyists for pharmaceutical companies that are paying our greedy government officials to keep up this stupid war. People should mind their own business - if you don't want to do drugs than don't but don't tell other people what they should do with their own bodies - it's none of your business. I don't care who does what but maybe that's because I have a life worth living and I'm not taking up needless space like these nosy busybodies.

In August of 2007 My home was raided by S.L.A.N.T.Illinois State Polilce, Rockford, Illinois Office. These people were Law Enforcement Officers of the most henieous kind. Nothing more than domestic armed terrorists, cheap vandals, and most of all. Sexual degenerate perverts. as One of this S.L.A.N.T. team was caught sniffing a pair of my nine year old daughters dirty panties. People like , Andrew Schroder, Scott Ellfson, Agen Madigan, Agent Meloy and that bunch. Get these kind of scum off the streets and the drug problem will subside too. And take the sick judges who issue these raid warrants right along with them. When the share in the trophies of these terrorists and perverts.

The Prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s did not solve the social and medical problems of alcohol abuse. It compounded those problems with a violent criminal problem. Same thing today with drugs. Ideally, everyone would "just say no"., but there will always be people who are determined to engage in stupid, self-destructive behavior. The we best can do is try to contain the damage. Legalization would contain the damage. The War on Drugs multiplies the damage.
Someone using drugs in his home is not hurting anyone but himself. But the violence unleashed in the attempt to prevent drug use hurts a lot of innocent people.
Did I hear someone say "What about the children?". I would bet that it's easier for a minor to buy drugs than cigarettes or beer. A liqour store owner has a business license to protect and can be held accountable if he sells Bud to a teenager, but a drug dealer is already operating illegally so he has nothing to lose by selling cocaine to your son.

Since drugs are illeagal in the United States of America, then I think we should close the 90 secure drug routes that the drug dealers claim they have to bring drugs into are country. 0 talorence on drugs into our country. Stop the drug corrupetion on the USA side of border and maybe the innocente people in Mexico can live in Peace!! OR legalize drugs and take the criminal element out, and tax the drugs run this industry like any other industry. The report is that $50 Billion dollars of cocaine enter are country (USA) every year. STOP THE DRUGS OR, DO SOMETHING!!!

Not all but some drugs need to be legalized to take the profit motivation out of the equation. The US government spends more on drug interdiction than the dealers are making in profits and their making billions. If we could find a way to control and tax these drugs we could probably pay off our deficit and be able to fund drug counseling centers. Take away the profits and the problems that illegal drugs cause will diminish.

Jesus was sold out by Judas for a few pieces of silver. No difference today. Human greed is human greed. The problem with anything illegal is that it is illegal. In America we had the ill fated legislation of Prohibition. All that brought about was huge profits for the gangsters such as Al Capone and others. Murder was rampant over the division of territory. Today the drug wars bring about the same money mentality. In the drug world like any other Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely. It is my opinion that drugs should be legalized as that would take the profit out. Without the profit these hoodlums would not exist. Many take drugs just for the thrill or simply the illegality of it. In the meantime easy money will outweight all risks involved. Just like alcohol prohibition drug prohibition just does not work!!!!

Well, I really regret the drug war is still going on, and it isnt because I want to smoke, ( just makes me sleepy anyway) : Its because of the EXPENSE, the CRIMINALIZATION of many innocent people and the FIREARMS LAWS that PROHIBITION ALWAYS BRINGS ABOUT. I do believe in poliecing drugs to keep America crime free of course, But NOT PRODUCING CRIMINALS BY STUPID PROHIBITION.

The assumption that all of Mexico's soicety is infiltrated by " Druglords" is totally false.
These criminals are only a few, not all of Mexico citizens are into the "narcoculture" matter of fact there are numerous marches, protests and aclamations for ending the violence by prominent citizens of all walks fo life .

Mexico is a Third World country and the vast majority are poor. Rampant drug dealing brings in big money. It has infiltrated the entire society.

I was just in Torreon, Mexico and Monterrey and didn't experience any encounters with drug lords. Mexico's upper class and middle class also consists of professionals. The upper class is not only made up of drug loards. They do not hang out at the same parties. There is a difference between the intellectuals and those who are just rich. It is very easy to tell the difference.

This is a real unfortunate problem. My cousin's brother-in-laws (2) of them were kidnapped, tortured and burned to death by these people. This happened years ago in Mexico City.

This is a very polarizing and exaggerated artcle; besides that girl knew exactly was she was getting into. Please understand that Mexico is way more than just drug lords and mafia. I mean, come on, the author is quoting a stripper, what kind of source is that???

  • Posted By: SoCalchic82 @ 01/07/2009 7:09:11 PM

First of all, you people need to pick up a book and read every once in awhile. Second, if you have actually READ all the studies in the decriminalization of narcotics would save OUR TAX DOLLARS MILLIONS! IF we would treat the addict and not the problem, our national average of nonviolent crime would go down. If we were to open safe houses where nurses supervised drug addicts taking their drug of choice, instead of getting arrested for it, our jails would be emptier and we could actually keep rapists, murderers, and pedophiles off the streets. Since these people are criminalized, thrown into jail with felonies, it is extemely hard for them to get good jobs and be productive members of society, in turn, its harder for them to take care of their families, who end up on some sort of governemnt assistance program.
And Brutus, not all Mexican women are what you say we are. We are not just some dumb, baby-making machines. And why just pin-point women? Men make just the same stupid mistakes and actually get caught more oftem than women, just look at our prison system. You may want to read a book, or , even watch a documentary every once in awhile, its obvious you don't know what a book, or even reading is.

This is article is based on one event, which the author tries to extrapolate to mexican women in general. It is an absolute exaggeration. The author is even quoting a stripper, that does not sound like a reliable source to me. The article is influential and polarizing. And as for the girl, she knew what she was getting into, we even have a saying for that in Mexico, "Tell me with whom you go around with, and I'll tell you who you are".

What a great culture, I guess everybody is a victim. What's next will all of the victims watch their neighbors eat live children? and continue to do nothing? What a bunch of sheep.

  • Posted By: patriot212 @ 01/07/2009 6:55:47 PM

What a wonderful culture! What's next eating live children???

If only life were simple, Jack.....there'd be no unwanted pregnancies because we'd all abstain from sex, or use condoms; there'd be no drunk drivers because people simply wouldn't drink and drive; and there would be peace on earth because, simply, nobody would start a war. Lovely idea for sure.

Uh, I was quoting 48coop whose comment I responded to. My response was: "There is a disease called addiction that makes this solution impossible", but thanks for reiterating my point. :)
