You know all things true, the economy has been in the toliet for a while . people are loosing therr jobs , they have no healthcare, and the best you cant do is critciize. Mr Obama for trying to sitmulate the economy by putting money........The one that was running with him said the fundamentals of the economy are sound.........and the one sitting in office is doing nothing, actually it took him a year to realixe that we were even in a recession. I don't know if its racist behavior or what. As far as I can see some people are real stupid to think that this economy will ever correct its self.Obama has a hard job ahead of him . Does anyone know just last month we lost 693,000 jobs is this also Mr Obama,s fault...........I say give the man a chance ...................Mr Bush has 27% approval rate it can't get any worst.

remember congress has a approval rating of about 7% funny how people blame bush always isnt it, when the trueht is AIts congress that really screws things up

      • Posted By: johnamaxon @ 01/09/2009 9:43:27 AM

I agree with you on that point. Therefore, we should not blame Obama before he gets the job either. We should wait and see how well he performs.

        • Posted By: islenskur @ 01/09/2009 9:53:12 AM

i dont blame obama...i simply point out he is a typical politican and made promise > more than normal shall we say > promises he had no intention or ability to fullfill, thus. lets stop acting like he is god and get real...obama has > even for a politican a ego that is rediculous...he loves all the praise and fanfair too much i fear....he could of made brownie points with me by having jan 20 not be a over the top hollywood, production since the country is beyond broke and just had a solem classy affair, it would of least given the impression he was serious about the fact that most people out here cant afford thier homes. cars, or even food these days....too bad he is more concerned with standing on a stage and looking like the almighty leader...than actually leading

Wow. I don't remember a transition being this scrutinized before. People say the media is "in the tank" for Obama, but I truly don't remember each minute detail of previous transitions being parsed out hourly with Clinton and Bush. Politics has truly entered the realm of reality TV. The problem here is that, as usual, the inside the beltway folks only look at other inside the beltway folks and become myopic in their reporting. There are over billions people out there (far more than those in DC) who only care about not losing their job, not losing their house, and keeping the heat on. And yet they watch the news or read Newsweek and hear about a spat with the CIA Director choice. Crikes.

Now why do you suppose that is? Have you ever seen a podium with a sign "Office of the President Elect" on it in the past. Very bad form. Mr. Obama set himslef up and frankly deserves a great deal of observation. He will be the most poeerful man in the world on January 20th. Fortunately, he doesn't have anything to do with my destiny. Thank God!

Most of the posters thus far come off like complete idiots...the man hasn't even been inaugurated yet - his term hasn't even STARTED yet, and all these wingnuts are blubbering about the "failure" of his presidency! Amazing. They don't recognize the utter, complete, disasterous failure of the conservative presidency of the last 8 years, WHICH HAS ALREADY HAPPENED, but seem to have a keen eye in seeing the failure of something that hasn't even yet begun. Yes, Obama said we need hope and change, but he NEVER said it was going to be easy to fix the mess made by Dubya & Co. Here's an idea...why don't you naysayers shut up and give the guy a chance before you make your completely uninformed, dogma-bound judgements? If you can't be positive and forward thinking, then just be quiet, and let the rest of us get down to the hard work it will take to try to repair at least some of the damage done by those of your ilk.

Everymorning I wake up and read the World events as well as those vital to the United States (which seem to go hand in hand these days) and I find myself disappointed in my own country... reading comments as those listed here...Obama being president isn't about him being "black"...it's about a DEMOCRATIC system that belives in the voice of the people...those black and white! Obama is not just for blacks...there enough labels...he is our leader...the leader of the people...the leader of the United States of America...not "Blackville USA"!

If this is about color, we as a nation failed under white leadership...but this new era is not about blame...we need to get together and rise to the occassion as a nation! Gas prices are not just 3+ dollars for blacks, that price is for all...blacks are not the only ones loosing their jobs and homes...we all are! It tooks years for us to get in this situation and will take years for us to get out...The man is not even president and he has the weight of the world is on his shoulders...the USA used to be the stronghold of the world...now we are the laughing stock...and our pre-Civil War thinking will keep us in the light.

As Americans we must stop thinking in our small boxes and living in our own pockets and communities. Their are more foreign millionaires and billionaires than black and whites put together! Some Europeans don't even accept white Americans...so instead of trying to seperate from where we live, work and play...we need to talk and colaborate with the people/cultures we see everyday to fix OUR NATION!

    • Posted By: MegaWhy @ 01/09/2009 9:39:55 AM

You said "I find my self disappointed in my own country". That just says it all....good grief. What country do you think is better????

  • Posted By: jcarter9963 @ 01/09/2009 9:39:16 AM

BTW....like it or not....Mr Obama's chance begins Jan 20.. so enough on give him a chance. He has one. Now we need Congress to work together for a change and not go on vacation with incomplete business.

You kNow johnamaxon if a white person made remarks like that, they'd be labelled racists. You are WRONG on so many counts. THe one CLEAR truth is you are the worst kind of bigot. You are the kind of person that is bringing this country down. Obama (by the way it's a capital 'O' small 'b') has been given high approval ratings and for what? He hasn't done a thing yet except make speaches he can't be held to since he officially can't do anything and he has chosen a cabinet. A cabinet with some very good choices and some horrendous ones.

You sir are a racist And before you go blasting all 'whites' I'm Native American.

Obama has yet to prove he can run the country. Bush didn't create the 'mess' ,, Washintgon did.. both Dems and Republicans. Learn your history man and how the government works. The President does not make all these decisions alone, the Congress has as much to do with it as any government body.

The economy was falling apart for yeats. The auto industry has been failing for more than 3 years. I know. I work in it. The mortgage industry gave ridiculous mortgages to people who should never have qualified for one. Greed was behind much of the 'mess; that exists. Politicians getting payoffs in various forms, peoples costs increasing while wages don't causing many to use credit to survive, and people being caught in wanting more and reaching beyond their means.

THe middle east battles have been there since history of that region began. It's because of hatred, greed (again), fundamental intolerances based on ignorance .. the kind your post displays. It's attitudes and views of that nature that classify and judge populations of people on the narrowest of viewpoints.. personal dislike and hatred.

These sorts of battles will always exist until people accept we are all different. And this is a good thing as well as one that causes conflicts. Humans have been failing miserably in dealing with differences. Thank you for adding to that.

YOUR REPLY IS HOW A RACIST RESPONDS TO THE TRUTH. YOU'RE CONVICTING THE MAN BEFORE HE GETS INTO OFFICE AND YOU CALL ME A BIGOT. YOU'RE SIMPLY ANGRY BECAUSE SOMEONE IS SPEAKING OUT AGAINST RACISM. I DIDN'T WAKE UP THIS MORNING AND START CALLING PEOPLE RACIST, I'M SIMPLY RESPONDING TO HOW PEOPLE ARE JUDGING OBAMA BEFORE HE EVEN GETS INTO OFFICE. NO, I'M FAIR AND I HAVE THE GUTS TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST UNFAIRNESS IN BEHALF OF ALL PEOPLE, NOT JUST OBAMA. TELL ME, WHY AREN'T YOUR SPEAKING IN HIS BEHALF? WHY AREN'T YOU TELLING PEOPLE TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE BEFORE JUDGING HIM? WHY AREN'T YOU GIVING HIM A CHANCE TO PROVE HIMSELF? I GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE TO PROVE TO ME WHAT THEY'RE REALLY MADE OF. SO, WHEN YOU SAY THAT OBAMA IS NOT DOING HIS JOB BEFORE HE GETS THE JOB, THIS TELLS ME A WHOLE LOT ABOUT YOU. YOU'RE TRYING TO COVER YOUR UNFAIRNESS BY CALLING ME A RACIST. THAT'S FINE, BUT GOD KNOWS YOUR HEART. FURTHERMORE, WHAT YOU ACCUSE ME OF ONLINE DOESN'T MATTER. A HIGHER POWER IS READING YOUR HEART AND WILL ONE DAY JUDGE YOU. REMEMBER THAT.

Nothing really needs to be said. You have shown what you think. All Caps, Screaming, acting insane. You must be a Democrat and a Coolaid Drinker. As for me, I love this Country, love its history and I am proud of it. Mr. Obama has his chance, but you can not be pleased with that VERY POOR speech he made yesterday. Do you like being depressed and down trodden? Mr. Obama seems to like that approach....wow it is Jimmy Carter all over again.

    "johnamaxon"
That is the most rididulous and simplistic opinion I have ever heard. I guess we cannot criticize him because he is black, that would be racist? To not criticize him because he is black would be racist. Treating him like every other politician is how to not be racist. There is nothing racist about this article. By writing what you write racism is spread. To blame Bush for everything is wonderful for you, however it is an uneducated, simplistic, uninformed view of the world economy. I could rant for longer but that sort of e-mail probably should not have been acknowledged at all.

    • Posted By: johnamaxon @ 01/09/2009 9:31:12 AM

Hey buddy, Obama is not even in office yet. It is totally unfair and unAmerican to judge him before he takes office. It's like convicting a person before they go to court. Your reasoning is all twisted. This is not about being treated like a politician, it's about being fair in general and Obama is being accused before he goes to trail. Other Presidents were given a fair chance. Why not Obama? Why Judge him before he takes office? No one knows what's going to happen once he takes over. They're judging him before he gets there. So, you tell me, what should we call this if not racism or biased discrimination?

  • Posted By: mike1109 @ 01/09/2009 9:30:13 AM

I have never been a fan of any political leader due to the fact most have their own selfish, greed-driven agendas. They get into office by strectching truths and promising only mirage results; their own agendas are their sole drive in their political efforts. It is only when they are faced with public scrutiny that they try to become more humanitarian in their efforts. I believe this is the main factor that has led to our country's economic deterioration.
In saying this, I also admit I voted for Obama. He was the only candidate that seemed to address the needs of the public as the most important issue facing our country. It does our country no good to address other countries ailments, while our own homeland goes into default. Our own working class are unemployed at outragous levels, companies are being given unprecedented amounts of money to cover the consequences of their greed, and all at the expense of ...the working class. The government is getting their proposed "Bailout" remedy from...the working class tax money. This is an indicator that the working class (more affectionately called.. consumer) is the corner stone of our economy's foundation. So with this in mind, businesses are nothing but a buildings until the working class customer makes business for them. So why are we giving money to businesses instead of the working class consumers that feed our businesses in the economy. These businesses are still going to lay off workers once they get their money in order for them to weather the faultering economy. CEOs are still being wasteful because their are no reprocussions for their indiscretions...other than public scrutiny that was mentioned earlier. America, wake up and see that as long as we jilt the consumer/working class taxpayer, people are going to keep cutting back and the business economy will continue to get worse.
As for the political arena, let's see what Obama has to offer. Give him the necessary tools to do the job we believed he could do when we voted him in to office. Afterall, he was a refreshing change of pace because he realized the same direction for our country was needed.

Obama is inheriting one big mess and there are some idiots out there that thinks his job is gong to be easy. Where were your comment about George Bush who has got thiks country into the worst shape anyone could ever dream. I am not sure if your comments are racist or if some are just plain stupid......We didn't just get in this mess yesterday. Obama term starts Jan20 ............Wait who is the current president and what is he doing . Well let me tell you just in case you aren't paying attention .Mr President Bush is doing what he has always done NOTHING.

    • Posted By: MegaWhy @ 01/09/2009 9:25:08 AM

Oh gosh..let me see. Mr. Obama has a crisis in the Middleeast, wow, no President has ever faced that. Now he has to clean up the Financial disaster created by the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mess...oh yeah..that was Democrat created. Yes President Elect Obama has a mess....and he must work on cleaning it up. So far he is only suggesting printing more money and destroying the American Economy. President Bush is leaving office..now who will you be able to kick around and disrespect. Now that the Democrats have control, their real intentions are being revealed..Government Control and Socialism. Now we have a toatlly incompetent President as of January 20th to run it all. IKeep Hope alive!

This discussion just proves the point that a mojority of Americans don't understand Washington politics. In reference to this article, Mr Obama has a challenge ahead of him. The challenge is coming from within his own party. This is not a Black - White thing. This is the typical Washington politics that helped get us into the mess we are in. For example, Mr Obama stated he did not want Burris as senator. Senator Feinstein, felt that she was not consulted on the matter and is backing Burris. Mr. Burris, BTW, is a very capable candidate for senator and should be seated. But this is an example of the kind of Washington politics that Mr. Obama faces. If he is runnning into this kind of challenge of a simple Senate appointment what faces him when the major issues need to be addressed like the stimulus package and national healthcare?

  • Posted By: islenskur @ 01/09/2009 9:21:05 AM

Why is it anyone who has a negative comment on Obama is either Racist or speaking Hate....look...Obama is a low class politican from Chicago....anybody who was dumb enouhg to believe his crap was simply living in the Land of Oz....almost nothing obama promised will happen > 1 they were lies to get elected or 2 they simply cant happen, no matter who promises them...Obama has already i believe found out a few REAL TRUTHs about our economic situation and people....its far worse than anything thats happen so far....if anyone looks at the fact...looks at the combination of things beginning to happen can see things are going to fall apart very soon and no one can stop it....if you let a little wave turn into a Tsuami and its heading for you....all you can do is go to higher ground....brace for the impact and then when the water goes back in the ocean....start over with the few things that survived....

People, stop acting as though race isn't an issue in this country. Just because America voted for Obama doesn't mean that racism and discrimination has stopped. When racism is confronted, those who practice it try and defend their racism by claiming the race card is being played. Great cop out for those who don't support all races and are not fair to all races.

The Media will now raise their ugly head again. They lost all credibility with American Voters through out the campaign. Did they super promote Obama, in order to generate more stories? Without regard for the well being of the Country? They are going after him like fresh meat in a shark tank. I did not vote for him, although I do feel sorry for him. I really hope people consider what this media did, and remember it in the future. Do your own research and ignore their baseless promotion and tasteless attacks on others. Burn the filthy press!

  • Posted By: malmormom @ 01/09/2009 8:50:23 AM

johnamaxon please stop giving advice. It is "folks" like you who continue to divide this country by color. How do you expect the country to come together and support the new Commander in Cheif if we are still arguing about color? I am a liberal conservative white female who votes based on platforms not color. I work in the Non-Profit sector serving mostly minorites and women. I advocate everyone who deserves a chance regardless of color/race/religion......isn't that what you are crying about? So who is judging who? Your ignorance keeps this country divided and though I didn't vote for him, I belive that even Mr. Obama would be apalled by your nonsense. Ask God to mold me a new heart? Why, because you couldn't bully me into voting your way? No, johnamaxon, I think you are the one who needs to look deeper. You say hate is not good yet you clearly hate Mr. Bush and any non supporter of Mr. Obama. I didn't vote for him, but I wll support him because he is going to be the man who will help mold the future for my children. If the tables were turned, could you say the same?

    • Posted By: johnamaxon @ 01/09/2009 9:02:25 AM

YOU ARE TOTALLY MISSING THE POINT. I'M SIMPLY DEFENDING OBAMA FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE JUDGING HIM BEFORE HE GETS THE JOB. NO, IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DON'T WANT TO BE CONFRONTED. YOU WANT TO PROTECT THOSE WHO JUDGE HIM BEFORE HE GETS THE JOB. WHY WON'T YOU SPEAK OUT AGAINST THOSE DOING THIS? YET, YOU CONDEMN ME FOR TELLING THE TRUTH. YOU SHOULD BE BACKING UP WHAT I'M SAYING. REALLY, BUSH DID A POOR JOB AND NO ONE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND THEY WANT TO SMASH OBAMA BEFORE THE TAKE OFFICE. YOU DO SEE THIS? PLEASE!

      • Posted By: MegaWhy @ 01/09/2009 9:12:21 AM

I think Mr. Obama is getting a lot of support. His own party is pulling the rug out from under him. He is inexperienced and has made mistakes already. His biggest mistake was his Gloom and Doom speech to the world yesterday. Gee that should build confidence. What happened to the "Audacity of Hope", Hope, We need Change? Now he is taking on the helm of a ship as Captain and all he can say is "We are all going to Drown!" great leadership..I am inspired. Best thing I have done is turn off the news and not listen to anyone in government. We have the worst case of "Group Think" I have ever seen.

  • Posted By: cygnus108 @ 01/09/2009 9:11:54 AM

Let's face it people...we have been fooled again as a nation. Obama ran on HOPE, and now he's Mr. Doom & Gloom (Note: If you don't pass my stimulus plan then we would face double digit unemployment)...hmmm...sounds like something Bush would do. He ran on CHANGE and it looks like we're heading for the status quo. I know he hasn't taken office as yet, but if this is what we see before power is handed over, then I question what we would see when true power is placed in his hands. I pray for us all that things improve, but I'm not going to hold my breath just yet.

  • Posted By: rwcapra @ 01/09/2009 9:00:33 AM

I am so sick of the race card, give me a break and let's quit using it. Bush never used the cacaisan card in 8 years, grow up!

    • Posted By: MegaWhy @ 01/09/2009 9:06:41 AM

I agree. Our President is a person of color. There is no race card to play. Now we need to play the competency card.

  • Posted By: MegaWhy @ 01/09/2009 9:02:20 AM

Another Democrate commentary. President-elect Obama campaigned on hope, now he is Mr. Negative. Just as I suspected, tell everyone he is the Savior of all and then when the time is right reveal real intentions - Socialism, Massive Debt, Bailouts for all, Government as the only solution (the one that never works). What a disaster!
