My final point, Mr Obama needs consensus within his party and the Republican party to get his agenda through. These senators and congressman in both parties have their own agenda's so I don't see much change. You would be better served concentrating on what you, the American citizen, can control rather than placing your "hope" in this bunch. When the going gets tough.....Washington goes on a break.

The country is seeing he is a MARXIST

This is not about Obama. George Bush ruined our economy. So keep the focus on BUSH and ADVERTISE JUST HOW BAD HE MESSED UP AMERICA AND HOW THIS IS ALL HIS FAULT! Obama is not responsible for America's misfortune, however, when he eventually gets into office, he will have the opportunity to prove to racist white Americans and all other non-racist Americans that he can do the job. Some of you are focusing on the wrong issues; Obama has a job to do and is PREPARING to do that job, but white America does not want to give him a fighting chance. This is the pattern of racism and discrimination in America, you are not fair to Blacks & other minorities and simply will not give them a fighting chance. My advice to all of you who are unfair is to stop judging individuals before extending to them the same opportunity you extend to whites. I know it's hard for some of you because your parents (if not other racial haters) taught you racism through word or deed, or probable both. Therefore, it's ingrained in you and you can't think & reason for yourselves, so you fulfill your parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents desires of continued hatred toward Blacks.. You folks know this is true, you just don't want to change or simply don't know how to change. The only way to change is to get to down on your knees and ask God to help mold you a new heart. Otherwise, you will fail on your own. No one is born with hate, hate is from controlled mindset. So, if you hate someone because of their nationality, then your thinking is controlled by others. Why not use your own mind for a change. You'll feel better and relieve a lot of pressure from your life, and probably prevent a stroke or heart attack in the process. Hate is simply not good, whether toward a President or anyone for any reason. Remember, a calm life is good for the heart.

I pretty much agree with all the comments but, I did vote for him. At the same time I know that NO ONE is perfect so to critisize everything he does before he does it seems a bit sad to me on the oppositions part. My mother told me something when I was younger: "If you don't have anything nice to say, sometimes you shouldn't say anything at all". Some of the media should think about that. This man is carrying the weight of the world on his back and you want to punch him in the face and come along for the ride too. Im wondering are these the guys who put Bush in office. If so they probably shouldn't say anything at all if they are happy with the worlds current situation. To the Author: Hey if you can do better you have about 4 years to prepare for your turn. Otherwise, help put gas in the car instead of sucking it out so we can get to a destination where everyone can have a chance at success. You may not like the driver but, you don't even have a license.

Race is not a factor, Mr Obama won by on the White vote as well as the African-American and Hispanic vote. He won because he promised "Change". The problem is, is that the American people listen to everything they hear and don't understand that Washington is a machine. The guy has not even taken office yet and there is in fighting from his own party. It doesn't get any better than this......an all Democratic circle jerk......

White people, please be real. No President who has ever stepped into office has had experience running the country they became President. That's stupid. Furthermore, OBama is not even in office yet, Bush still has a job to do since he messed up everything in the first place. Now you try to smash OBama before he gets into office. Get over the hurt, we have a Black President now and will have for the next 8 years because OBama is going to prove that he can do the job just as well or better than his former white counterparts. For some reason, some whites want to charge him with being guilty of not doing his job before he even gets the job. Stop being racial haters. Some of you will deny this, but still, you know it's true. You wanted a white President and will not be happy until you get one. You gave all the other terrible President a chance who are proven failures and history proves it. Yet, you continue to show just how much America hasn't changed, you simply refuse to give the New Black President a chance to prove himself. Have a nice day, sore losers!

Other than playing the "race card", you haven't brought up any valid points. What about the child safety bill that Hillary, John Kerry and Obama are going to put into effect that will put a stop to organizations that redistribute used items to the needy? Have you done any research at all on this new regime?

  • Posted By: brook30white @ 01/09/2009 8:09:34 AM

    Correction.
The color of a person or their religious preference is not the issue. The issue and the bottom line to all of the problems that the world is dealing with.....is simple greed.

  • Posted By: brook30white @ 01/09/2009 8:08:02 AM

Colr and race are not the problem here...people in general are the problem and greed.

This is "Change we can Believe in" Really. Washington politics..... Same old, Same old....I am glad that I did not waste my time voting.

May I remind all of you that Mr. Obama is the President Elect not the President and he can not change policy or do anything about policy until January 20, 2009. This would be the same if he was white, hispanic, asian or a woman. The jerk that all the Christian Conservatives elected for 8 years, who has sold this country down the road, is still in charge. Grwo up people we the people allowed this to happen it takes more than one to get us into this situation, did anyone raise their voices and demand Bush stop the wars? No people who spoke up were called terrorist. Did anyone raise their voices to complain about what they were seeing in the housing industry or Wall Street, no put they sure pocketed the money they were making. Did everyone go out and vote no but they did sit home and complain in their armchairs. We the people need to stand up, we the people need to help fix the problems we allowed Cheney and Bush to shove up our butts, we the people need to scream as loud as we can and say ENOUGH, enough pork on important bills, enough butt kissing, enough special interests, enough in-fighting between parties, enough fighting between parties because someones morals are not someone elses morals, enough trying to make every person believe what one person believes because that person thinks only their beliefs count. This country is hurting, the middle class is becoming the poor and the upper class is becoming the middle class, why because nobody wants to work together, what will it take for us to get to that place where we can work for the good of all Americans?

This country denies the fact they are preudice, they are crooks. Have you ever heard of a honest hard working person honestly making it big in life. How would the congress like trying to make it on 25,000.00 a year. Why not try they would absolutely die. What if they for say cut the budget. They really dont care about the american people who have lost jobs, homes and are stuggling to get a life they once knew. Warefare should be for american born only. The people who are leading this country is killing this country fact to be known. Have the mortage companies offered to redo ALL home loans to lower payments for people whos incomes have changed thats a big NO. the politicians should give back some of thier annual salary to help people out Why should they live in the easy street when thier own man-kind is strangling to survive.

He ran his election on "change". If he meant any of it, then where is the change, except in my pocket. It's already off to a laughing start. I want America to rise above and become the leader it's always been, but Mr. Change ain't the answer. If you are serious about change how about starting with reducing or eliminating the billion dollar inaguartion party you are having and put that money somewhere else, like into the economy, but no-this is the same old same old. Sure lets pay 8000 security people to monitor the event, food, entertainment, etc. billions and billions for what??? Maybe a second change you could make is reduce or eliminate the UN - they are useless fat asses that get large sums for nothing, eat free and live free here in NYC. NO-one listens to them around the world, why not put that money to etter use. Here's another third change for you dude-cut government IN HALF. Here too are all the big salaried, pensioned well taken care of useless people, like for example Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, Senate Banking Committee - look at this mortgage crisis and wall street, guys in any other job you would have been fired LONG AGO, but no, lets keep padding their luxury lives. So America, there will never be change, it was a huge lie during the primaries and we will live it for 4 years...Hey, good luck with that!

This country is in a situation that will be difficult to remedy. It took us a long time to get into this mess and it will take a long time to get out of. There are no easy solutions. American consumers, businesses, and governments on all levels will have to learn to live with less debt. That is a fundamental change that will be difficult for all three groups.

And our financial system has to change as well. Wall St has to become less of a gambling casino and more of the "old fashioned" system of buying a stock because the company is a good solid company that makes money and has a good future. How many times have I read headlines like "Hedge fund makes bad bet on future price of natural gas and loses billions". Why are these people making "bets" with our money. While fundamentally good businesses are seen as boring.

And why is the CEO of Lehman worth, in annual compensation, more than the entire payroll of many large businesses?

I could go on here but you get the idea of the level of change we need.

The old party politics and the old attack media coverage will not help. I did not vote for Obama. But I take no comfort in watching the Democrats begin the infighting. I wish Obama and his team nothing but the best. We, as Americans, need him to succeed. And while Iintelligent debate is an integral part of solving problems, party politics, and turf wars are two things we can do without right now.

Between the consumer, American business, and government, I am most worried that government will have the most difficult time evolving. These people are so ingrained with the idea of making the other party look bad, promoting self serving agendas, building power bases, and preparing their re election strategies as soon as they are elected, that I just don't see them evolving into the kind of government we need.

I hope I am wrong on that.

Give me a break Howard,You are once again out of touch with what average Americans are feeling. the only people upset with any of Mr. Obama's appointments are the old established house democrats who are afraid of losing what little control they have and are afraid of "change". If they are not careful and come across to the American people as obstacles to Obama's agenda they will find themselves voted out. The American people are not concerned with petty power struggles with so much at stake.

I agree. Democrats have had no leader for so long, they don't know how to act now that they have one. I think a few phone calls by all of us to people like Pelosi, Reid, and Feinstein, telling them to back off and cooperate might be in order. Remember, voting for Obama isn't the only responsibility we have. We have to stay active in the process of governing this government by the people.

It is true that Obama hasn't done anything, yet. He has no real track record. However, the media backed him and bascially made him President. I told friends through the whole election process, if Obama allows the media to build him into the image they want...be prepared once elected they will do everything to tear him down. That's what the media does so well. They build heros so they can tear them down over and over again. Sadly enough most people want to see that too. They like to read and hear about heros, but they are more excited to hear about their failures. Obama was not my choice in the election, however he will be our next President. I want to see him succeed, this country needs him to succeed. He deserves the opportunity to do his best. My only advise....watch out Mr. President the water may have been friendly in the election, but there are now sharks in those waters and you're the bait.

Let's look at the carefully chosen and loaded words Mr Fineman used to describe Obama and other Dems:

"dawn of Barack Obama" - What? He's president, not the Second Coming.

"now defunct Spread Democracy club" - Yeah, democracy sucks! I'd much rather live in the socialism that the "dawn of Barack Obama" is portending...

" give Obama a clean, quick coronation" According to Webster's a coronation is "the act or ceremony of crowning a king, queen, or other sovereign" Obama ain't any of those things..

" refusing to accept the advent of Al Franken as a senator from Minnesota" - again, "advent"?? Although yes, TECHNICALLY the word means "a coming into place, view, or being; arrival", the more common understanding of the term is "the coming of Christ into the world." - So here again, a liberal, Mainstream Media journalist is heralding MR. Obama's inauguration as the Second Coming of Christ. Not even close, kiddies.

What is with every body? Remember, this not about Obama (like he said), and yet people seem to forget. He's going to represent this country in Washington, and to the rest of the world. If you have any advice or suggestion about what he's doing good or wrong, let's hear it. Blog about it.

Why is anyone surprised that Obama is getting bad reviews before he even gets into office? He hasn't done a thing wrong - but he IS the next President and since he's already technically in office, of course the media is going to tear him apart. It isn't helping Obama that the Democrats are already baring their teeth against their own party memberse. That casts a shadow on the Democratic party as a whole and Obama particularly. Capitol Hill was over the top of the mountain when the stimulus bail-out was given to the American public. Money was borrowed to do this and it didn't help the economy one iota. Now Obama is going down the same path as Bush - offering a fish to feed the people when they need a rod and reel to learn how to fish for themselves. This new package will NOT put the country back on solid ground. As long as we have multiple trillions of dollars owed on money the country is spending which it doesn't have in the bank, we aren't going to get a solid foot hold on the economy improving. If an individual or family owed (percentage wise - taking the trillions the country owes and divide it among the approximately 300 million people in the US - we would see the individuals declaring backruptcy. This country cannot afford 4 more years of going deeper and deeper in the negative balance owed by this country. We are going to find ourselves in the boat Germany was about 60 years ago when it took a box of money to buy a loaf of bread. History keeps repeating itself - with just subtle differences. I wish Obama much success in turning things around but if he continues in the direction he's heading, already promising more stimulus packages which aren't even a finger in the dike to jump start the economy, he's going to find himself in the same boat the other past unpopular Presidents have been.

While I hope and pray that President Elect Obama is very successfull for the good of our country, his lack of hands-on experience makes all of this no surprise. And if that is not enough of a concern, the Democratic controlled Congress which ran on nothing and did nothing good for this country over the past two years will now be a freak show. Savings and Loan, Social Security and Illegal Immigration all impacting on billions of American tax dollars. And now they want to fix and do an equally great (?) job of managing our health care. There are reasons for having laws and regulations however if no one enforces them what good are they? The Democratic answer - throw billions of taxpayer dollars at them (not a big deal, it's not Congresses money). They are bankrupting our society and continue to blow opportunities to do the right thing. Where are our politicians who want to do what is best for our country without concern for their own personal or political gain ? And why is the press not covering this ? The terrorists must enjoy watching our show. At this rate we will all be looking for "Change" at the next election.
