I would rather see you focus on the speed and tenacity with which the Obama-Biden team has selected a first rate cabinet and the best set of economic advisors. The nominations occurred in record time and represent the best that America has to offer. Yes, the folly with Bill Richardson could and should have been avoided but that is not a train smash. Nor is Roland Burris issue. Neither of the two are really the makings of the Obama-Biden team. If this is the worse that happens, we should all feel blessed. Seems as those you are being a little petty in your assessment of President-elect Obama. I, and I believe most Americans do as well, that President-elect Obama and his team have gotten off to an excellent start. The man has hit the ground sprinting and seems to have his priorities well in order. But you know that is one of the things that makes America such a great country---freedom of press. I (and I am sure President-elect Obama) would have it no other way

I voted for Ralph Nader who was the real choice for credible serious change from corporate corruption and tyranny against the people to the able leader who knows how to uphold the U.S., Constitution and govern this country not the world. Bush has no ability to govern this country and was not a democratic president, he usurped Congress' duty every chance he got. He is not capable of honor or proper policy and Obama is worse. We did not have an election. No one can say that a media forcing two party corruption against non-partisan choice for the proper ballot box power to oust incumbents who have done nothing for this country and put in someone who can, no one can say we had an election with democracy. We had media corrupt forced choices and a media claiming they want to rule the world. They stink. The U.S. Constitution does not allow this. November election is supposed to provide the people rule at the ballot box and can vote the incumbent agenda out and end the illegal wars and put the budget in the black and cut deficit military illegal spending of money not there.

I never cease to be amazed at the so called political experts sling mud instead of being productive or constructive. This is the reasons our political system is a joke, a bad one at that, everyone is trying to out do the other with insults instead of building on that thought or suggestion.

Why isn't Bush and his administration being charged with WAR CRIMES?

  • Posted By: lib-fascist @ 01/08/2009 11:42:12 PM

This is rather surprising from Fineman, whose nose is so firmly wedged into Obama's asscrack that it's starting to graft into the skin.

Folks, we can have a good world if we respect each other's differences.
We are the ones with a standard of living undreamed of by most of the world. Our way of life needs some heavy duty overhauling, yes. We are seeing a collapse.
But if we spew hate rhetoric like this, how will that set us apart from those guys 'over there'?
You know, the ones who are hoping to spiral this world into chaos with their own brand of irrational behavior, conviction and hatred?
Unity is the card that we have and now is the time to play it. It's not so hard to do!
Write your concerns and beefs to www.change.gov.
Just put it out here in a civil way and we are all ears.

Yeah Finman, you sound like your head is waay in the bubble. Harry Reid and Barbara Feinstein were outmanuvered by Blago, so I really dont think Obama is shaking in his boots at some "leader" whining. Especially since Obama has Biden and Rouse and Daschle as three Senate back room guys who know who to talk to and how to navigate a bill through the alleys, then Obama has Rahm with the same abilities regarding the House.

Regarding Panetta, all people do is whine about how there are like 20 intelligence agencies in various executive departments and how turf wars and resistance to sharing intel hinder operations and in the case of 9/11 may have caused deaths. If Obama plucked a CIA vet from the ranks, how cooperative does anyone think he'd be in Obama's efforts to make a more unified and efficent intel community? But Obama takes hits for putting a trusted ally at the top of CIA who is behind the president's policies. And who the heck does the Senate think they are all of a sudden. Short of nominating a paint eating mental patient, the president should be rubber stamped whomever he wants in his branch of government. G.H.W Bush was confirmed by a Democratic senate for CIA head and what intelligence experience did he have as 4 years on Ways and Means and a couple as UN Ambassador? But now democrats are making whiny noises about Panetta's qualifications. I'm guessing Panetta saw about 8 years more of daily intelligence briefings than many first time CIA directors.

And if the Panetta noise is because Reid and Barbara were not consulted, awww, after what Blago did to those two I'm sure Obama will have them stuffed and mounted before they know they are politically dead.

Good point on the experience of GHW Bush. I would imagine all the agency professionals will get Paneta over, the Director isn't going out on an op, nor do I think he will be doing much analysis. It might come down to him deciding between to factions of analysist, but I would imagine there will be some career Deputy Directors to help him out.

Whsoicalsecy, you are either ignorant, uninformed or a complete idiot, Obama has done more work in the past few months than any president in past history. I am not sure what country you are from but it is obvious you do not read the paper , listen to his media talks and speeches or you live under a mushroom...go to sleep.

He beat yer boy John McSame like an old oat sack in the recent election. And McSame was the best the RepubliCONs could come up with. The bright and shinning hope of the right wing. Stick a folk in the wingnuts, they're done.

Well, I'm waiting.....he is a ZERO - totally. He has said nothing except promises he cannot or will not keep. Take you meds and get back into bed - come back in 4 years and nothing will have changed. You are a BIG ZERO.

I find it interesting that the Democratic senators vowed to not seat anyone that Blagojevich selected and now they are caving to pressure and will seat him anyway. There goes your trust in our elected officials and their "word". And now Obama is being criticized by his own party. That's a good one. So far Obama has done nothing but talk and make speeches. He hasn't signed or passed anything yet and has only made selections for his cabinet that still need to be confirmed. The honeymoon is now over and the media will now expect results from Obama and not just a fancy speech.

    • Posted By: jarcher1 @ 01/08/2009 9:32:53 PM

They have no legal reason not to seat him. Blagojevich is still the duly elected Governor of IL. He has legally appointed Russo to fill Obama's term. End of story. The Senate has read too much bad press about them being a "club." They are not, they are a deliberative body of Congress, and as such have no power reject a Senator elect (or appointed) and thus deny the people of the state that sent him or her 50% of their representation. The saddest part of this whole dog and pony show is that I'm sure most if not all of the trash talkers knew if they denied seating to Russo, the Supremes would tell them to. They just kept running their heads because, basically, they love to hear themselves talk.

      • Posted By: jarcher1 @ 01/08/2009 9:40:33 PM

Correction, Burris, not Russo. You can tell how much this tempest in a teapot concerns me - but both Reid and Obama misplayed this one.

Come Jan 20...WE ALL LOSE...you know it is true...we have a Crook and a Fraud ready to assume the office of POTUS...he is nasty dirty...guilty of multiple criminal offences...morally bankrupt...and VERY DANGEROUS....Hussein will be a...less than one term Prez....he will leave under a cloud of shame and conspiracy...and who knows...The SCOTUS is reviewing two "natural born" cases Friday and next week. Never know...all that is needed is standing to be acknowledged...he is certainly hiding something...why else spend a MILLION DOLLARS to use legal privacy laws to HIDE his original Birth Certificate??? Maybe his last name is really Smith or Jones...but...we all know...he is NOT Natural Born...it WILL come out....

The article is about how the Democrats are making a mess out of what should be a time of glory for them, and yet all you can do is comment on the Republican legacy? Perhaps both parties' lack of focus is the problem. When did US Politics and it's citizens become all about winning and finger pointing? I think we should all try to become a little bit more objective and regain our own perspective. Enough finger pointing - let's just move forward.

Most Americans come home...eat dinner...watch the local news...then 30 minutes of network news....NONE of the MSM's EVER told the avg. person ...who and what Homobama really was...Interviews with "The One" consisted of questions like..."how would your parents feel?"..."Are you really going to install a B-ball court?"..."What was it like being bi-racial?"...""Whats your favorite color?"....SICK>>>SICK>>>SICK>>>and completely irresponsible. There was a time when America could count on her journalists to keep us informed. NO MORE...Now they are cheerleaders and groupies. BUT...Hussein will be revealed...it took WaterGate 2 yrs. to become a real issue.....Hussein will not last that long...as soon as our Homeland is hit (and you can count on it)...the MSM will cover their asses and destroy their own creation. It's sad and wrong...the blood will be on their hands, just as surely as Husseins. Bad way to wise up.

Wow, where to even begin! Burris and Obama have nothing to do with one another. That is a senate matter. The fact that it was his old seat is irrelevant. Someone else mentioned Richardson. Um, that's old news. Richardson will not be in Obama's administration due to his own choosing. Soooo what does that have to do with Obama? Nothing! I remember from the whole Ayers thing - a person is guilty of the same thing someone else did when they were 8 years old. You are guilty of it if as well as well merely by knowing them or being in the same room, right? I see people still using the prez elect's name in a demeaning way. It looks like right wing radio is doing a great job of reaching out to the most base instincts possible. Yes, people from the Clinton administration are in Obama's cabinet. Question, why should Obama start completely over again with people with no experience? Bush picked people from the Ford administration (Rumsfeld). So, what? Change means change from the previous administration. Again, what's wrong with that? Actually I hate to tell you this, but during the campaign McCain ran a dreadful campaign, while Obama led a masterful one. I hate to tell you this, but that's not the medias fault folks.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/08/2009 7:35:21 PM

You are partially right...McCain ran a horrible campaign...he refused to go on offense...refused to air negative commercials...refused to tell the truth about Homobama...BUT...the MSM is still to blame for The One's election.

Let's look at the carefully chosen and loaded words Mr Fineman used to describe Obama and other Dems:

"dawn of Barack Obama" - What? He's president, not the Second Coming.

"now defunct Spread Democracy club" - Yeah, democracy sucks! I'd much rather live in the socialism that the "dawn of Barack Obama" is portending...

" give Obama a clean, quick coronation" According to Webster's a coronation is "the act or ceremony of crowning a king, queen, or other sovereign" Obama ain't any of those things..

" refusing to accept the advent of Al Franken as a senator from Minnesota" - again, "advent"?? Although yes, TECHNICALLY the word means "a coming into place, view, or being; arrival", the more common understanding of the term is "the coming of Christ into the world." - So here again, a liberal, Mainstream Media journalist is heralding MR. Obama's inauguration as the Second Coming of Christ. Not even close, kiddies.

jwcannalte, regarding Democratic scandals, and that they are "under-reported." But you have to remember that these scandals have nothing to do with one another and do not reflect the kind or corruption we saw on an organized massive scale like we did during the Bush years. Furthermore many scandals you cite are the LOCAL level. Recall that in 2004, Bush and the family values folks ran on "family values." I remember radio commercials talking about how the GOP is the "moral compass" party. They set themeselves up for their fall in other fall. The fact that Larry Craig and Mark Foley are republicans is a relevant issue, it shows that many conservatives that vote against gay rights are gay themselves....DOH!!

Maybe I'm off base to the topic, but I have to say my old pal Mitch said it all. "The GOP's position on the Burris situation is - it's a mess"... Really? Brilliant!!! Like your legacy? Congratulations! What do want, a trophy? I can hear his Reps in the back round eggin' him on... "Yea! It's a mess. You tell em', Mitch! It's a mess, aint it?! I know there's a reason we keep voting this goofy bastard in... Can you think of any, Kentucky? Give me a break.

More nitpicking. 90% of the people finding little faults in every nook and cranny could hardly bear the thoughts of taking on one-tenth of the problems Obama faces, none of which are of his making. The media, including Fineman, has to find something to write about that keeps them above the level of boring. They stir up a few brainless folks in the process but the fact is, we start evaluating long after the inaugural, not before.

    • Posted By: curryjm @ 01/08/2009 5:58:41 PM

What, like Fineman makes this stuff up? This silly crap with Burris, Richardson, Panneta and Geithner is actually going on; all of which revolves around Obama. Hey, you can't make this stuff up. I think Obama's term is going to have some real entertainment value. Things are getting bumpy for Mr. Smooth.

      • Posted By: davem3705 @ 01/08/2009 6:22:54 PM

More entertaining than Harriet Miers or MIcheal Brown or Donald Rumsfeld or Paul Wolfowitz?
