Rubber Stamps always get a bad rap with stories like. Need a good rubber stamp. Need a good source for one. Go to rubber stamp link .com or directly to www.insigniah.com

Need the old fashion election system. He needs the votes and support of his people, not to be appointed.

But their constitution requires an appointment to fill this seat.

    Well done, Secretary White.

Well done not doing his clerical job? What statutory authority does he have for that?

Roland Burris is worthless. The folks in IL. deserve this joker. What is is even more funny, is that the Democrats are too cowardly to tell this guy to screw off and too worried about having a Republican win a reelection process. Typical Illinois politics....worthless.

I may be missing something, but it's my understanding that it's Blago's signature that White is supposed to certify, not the appointment. Doesn't that just mean that he's certifying that it's Blago's signature. If this is so, then he has no authority to refuse if he knows it is truly Blago's signature on the appointment.

I for one am abundantly sick of hearing Burris described as a man of decency and honor. He is not. He is a spoiled, arrogant, blowhard. His party all but unanimously stated they didn't want anyone taking the seat from Blogo. Burris than spat in his parties' face, took favors from an indicted man, and now is throwing the tantrum of a two year old when he isn't instantly granted his way. Where exactly is the the decency and honor? I certainly don't see it.

I applaud both Mr. White and Mr. Burris. Both are trying to do the right thing and both refuse to play the race card. It's fair to disagree with Mr. White's decision, but his integrity in the matter is above reproach. These gentlemen seem to just wish to serve the good people of Illinois to the best of their ability.

While I agree with Mr. White's position on Gov. Blagojevich, I am writing to say I appreciate all the Mr. White has done to promote organ donations. I have a family member who is affected by this issue, and I've heard his public service announcements promoting organ donations. We appreciate your support!

Making Burris pay for Blagojevich's mistakes is exactly why White has no integrity and is making issues out of air.

Mr. White, as a resident and registered voter in the state of Illinois, thank you. The governor will soon be gone, and if Burris is eventually seated, he will never win a second term.

I'm a Black man from Chicago. This is all a bunch of B.S. Black people don't view this as a racial matter. Its all about Blagojevich. When Bobby Rush spoke of the appointment in racial terms last week he was playing politics Chicago style, dirty and bare knuckled. The race card unfortunately was simply the weapon used. This is far from being a racial issue.

It appears that Mr. White has ethical values in place. To simply approve the appointment of Roland Burris, would be tantamount to approving the selling of the Senate seat by "Blago". We as a people must scrutinize politicians in order for us to have a government of the people, bythe people. Mr. White is following his instinct and I do not believe he is being malicious. Mr. Burris appears to have served the people well and in doing so he should advance to the next level. So that Roland Burris may continue to serve the people. It will all come out in the wash and we should be glad that scrutiny is in place. God Bless Roland Burris and Jesse White. They have a long and rough road ahead of them.

Good for you Mr. White. I admire your stand and I respect you for holding firm to your ground. We need more like you in all of our governments nationwide. The rocks will be hurled; but the target will not be you! Peace

Mr. Buriris meets and surpasses the qualifications for the Senate (ieven more so than Caroline Kennedy in NY), Blagojevich is still Gov of IL and has the aurhority to appoint whomever he wants to this seat, so Mr. White, please get over whatever snit you're in and sign off on this appointment

I think Blago should have appointed himself the junior senator from Ill. This would have surely given Harry Reid a coronary.

Goodness me! A man of principle in Illinois politics? Mr. White has my admiration for sure. (PS. He's right about Blago/Burris)

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/09/2009 1:39:53 AM

Blago is bad. Nothing has been pinned on Burris. The certification of the appointment is a 'ministerial', i.e. clerical , act. There is no statutory basis for the failiure to issue the certification. There is no legal, statutory authority to refuse to perform that ministerical act on the basis of principle or otherwise.

Chicago, Chicago, That tumbling town... That's my home town.. Eventhough I left in 1973 to move to the left coast of Northern California, I see the politics has not changed much since the Mayor Daley #1 days...
