Those who say that "Israel has the right to defend itself" or that it is"faced with an enemy like Hamas and Hezballah on its borders" should remember that the others Have the right to defend themselves too, that it is Israel's bombs that have always descended on Gaza and Lebanon first, and, most importantly, that "Israel" has no definite borders--nor does it have a constitution. In other words, it does not have the principal constituents of a state. Those who are in doubt can check UN records. Israel is an occupying force implanted by the West to take care of its interests. A state would never target Civilians, children, and UN schools sheltering children! People should see the full picture. Where are the pictures of tens of children massacred at an UNRWA school?

Israel DOES have the right to defend itself. If Mexico were tossing bombs over in Arizona the US would react the same way. If you lived in Arizona, you would probably think it was ok. Hamas has tossed them in Israel for a while now. Hamas only understands aggression. If you give an inch, they take a mile. The only way to stop them is destroy them since you cannot make them see reason any other way. As for the Palestine civilians, children or adults, they are no different than any casualties of a war. It is always tragic and heartbreaking. When the enemy hides behind them, there is no way around it. More will die, on both sides, if the enemy is not stopped.

Blair...or is it BLIAR. in the UK he isuniversally detested and seen as an *** licker to the USA, He and his croniy's palpably lied about Iraq and so dragged the nation into war. He is a smarmy, hand wringing, sanctimonious coward and warmonger.
What really worry's one, is that he is of the same maniacal brotherhood of so called Christians/zionists who don't mind how many other peoples sons die far away wars, as long as it isn't theirs. His god is MONEY, MONEY, and MONEY in that order,.... plus of course rich lecture tours of the sickly US gold circuit [i bet he didn't bank with bernie].
His shriving of course has been to don the Hair Shirt' and grovel to the Pope, so of course his spot in heaven is assured by god's mafia. To even think that any right minded Arab leader or body would sit down with him and talk is a very sick joke....especially now that Blairs ring master is to give him a medal. Well, i hope he pins it were the sun doesn't shine.

As an American citizen, who has never agreed with Bush or Blair, I feel helpless watching the children of Palestine get blown to pieces all because Israel felt they had a right to be somewhere they haven't been in centuries. Ok, so Israel is established and there's nothing nobody can do about it. They're certainly proving that now with the murdering of Palestinian civilians. But how does one tell people in the Middle East that they are all equal...that no one on this Earth is better than anyone else...that no one's God is better than others...that none of them or any human is 100% sure that there is a god at all, especially one who wants people to kill each other over a patch of desert in the middle of nowhere. All of this fighting back and forth is ridiculous and it's inhumane to throw bombs everytime we forget how to use our brains. Israel has kept Palestine hostage for decades so I am not surprised by the Palestianian attacks. But what does surprise me is Israel acting more like the Nazi's that unjustly suppressed them many years ago.

By the way, let me give you a sampling of the discussion on Arab websites:

"The only solution is to re-open Auschwitz, the true home of the jewish people. Jews have been prosecuted for centuries and as you can see every day on the news; it was not without a reason. (...)"

"This is what what the Nazis did in Europe. Zionists are the Nazis of our times. Shame on any government that supports them."

It goes on and on...moderate muslims are marginalized and becoming harder to find. Wake up. Many many arabs want to see you dead.

And you feel the same way about them, don't you rrring99? See how that works?

In looking at all of the comments on here, it appears to Me that not one of you have any understanding of what Hamas is interested in. I suggest you all read the Hamas covenant and then come back and discuss who wants to destroy who. The covenant can be found on the net.

To freecitizen, I suggest you consider these statistics:

rockets and mortars fired from Gaza since 2003 - 9400+
rockets and mortars fired from Gaza in 2008 alone - 3200+
rockets and mortars fired from Gaza since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 - 6500+
rockets and mortars fired from Gaza into Israeli territory during the ceasefire from June 19 to Dec. 19, 2008 - the period of the tadhyah - 543+
and it goes on and on.

And Israel was spoiling for a fight - hah. All the stats and the verbal declarations made by Hamas over time, along with their covenant, shows the opposite

Hmm.. and how would you feel is your neighbor came over to your hose and told you your yard was needed for his security? And then he places armed guards at all the exits and tells you you can only use one exit and HE says what or who goes in or out. You might fire are few homemade explosives toward them too after a while.

And all these statistics! How many Israeli's died from these firecrackers? And how many have died in only 2 weeks in Palestine? USING OUR WEAPONS! (against section 4 of the arms export act)

Britain is in the midst of what i would term imperialist demographic blowback.Citizens of its imperialist empire are resettling in the motherland and bringing with them all their social baggage including anti british sentiment and indigenous beliefs and practices some of which are at odds with their new society. This coupled with predjudice from the british people along with difficulty integrating into a foreign society have led to isolation and a feeling of victimisation from many of these immigrant groups. One of the hardest groups to integrate in any society have traditionally been muslims who see themselves as separate and apart from western corrupt and immoral society while of course accepting all the good of a free, secular west and ignoring any problems with their own islamic society. This has led to a catastrophic failure at western attemps to integrate these people into western society who feel they can and are justified in attempting to change their adopted societys into something more acceptable to them which needless to say will lead to further acrimony from the white christian majority which will lead to further isolation and discrimination and a vicious cycle of hate, mistrust and eventually violence much like we see in the middle east today. If a peaceful solution to this is not found muslim societys in the west will withdraw into complete isolation, create a parallel society with its own leaders, rules and judicial system and will eventually call for autonomy to preserve their own interests.this is not speculation,it has happened before in many societys that have failed to successfully and peacefully integrate a large, culturally foreign group of people with catastrophic effects. The idea of an islamic west is not absurd as western, particularly european population numbers begin an irreversible decline and imported young labour is needed to fill the gap,and where unlike in th US where much of this labour comes from latin america, europes will increasingly come from their former colonies in the middle and far east.A demographic, political, cultural, social and religious revolution is on its way in the west where the traditional society may not survive and where the interests and priorities of these new governments will change to be even more anti american, anti jewish, anti christian and anti western. If you look at western europe now,you will see all these changes happening before your very eyes.
But who knows, maybe a better society will result from the chaos that is coming and which will hit britain first closely followed by france and then the rest of western europe.

Britain is the cause of all the problems in the world. Britain is solely responsible for dividing the people in the world. Just look at the Middle East situation. Since Britain created Israel there has not been peace in the region. Look at Kashmir situation. Just before departing Britain thought it's okay to divide India into Hindu and Muslim countries and left Kashmir in the air. Since then there has not been peace in that region. Britain took Himanchal and Uttaranchal in the west and Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong in the east from Nepal and handed to India. Britain created Iraq in the vaccuum and by this swallowing up Kurdistan in the process. Now Kurds are living in Russia, Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq without a country. I can go on and on. This man named Blair went along with Bush to attack, occupy and destroy civilization in Iraq. This man is talking about peace in the region. Blair needs to look in the mirror and feel sorry for himself and for his country. He will never be able to bring peace in the region. Blair is just earning salary amidst chaos in the region.

Tony Blair is a disgrace to the world, and his assignation as Middle East Envoy a macabre joke. How can anybody listen to what this guy has to say about the Palestinian conflict?

  • Posted By: n83nbu @ 01/10/2009 4:50:47 AM

I just wonder how many of the posts on this blog are paid and sponsored by Israel's secret service? It's obvious the Israelis have a lot to lose (obscene amounts of hard-earned American tax dollars) should American public opinion turn against them for their butchery of women and children. Just when will the Palestinian side get a fair shake in the media ??? especially since they are fighting for land which is RIGHTFULLY AND HISTORICALLY THEIRS!

  • Posted By: munsoor @ 01/10/2009 3:10:53 AM

When it comes to pointing out the blatant act of brutality of Israel, we find a total lack of conscience and remorse in US and England. Where has, the much celebrated aloquence of Mr Obama, been lost? Was this muted change, that US, for that matter the World was yearning for?

  • Posted By: freecitizen @ 01/10/2009 2:41:38 AM

The whole premise of Tony "Bush's poodle" Blair's "peace mission" to the Middle East was to create the the fiction that Fatah was the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and to perpetualte the greater fiction that Israel was "negotiating"with SOMEBODY. Unfortunatley EVERYBODY in the region knows that Fatah is now the wholey owned subsidiary of the U.S. and Israeli intellegence community. Even in the West Bank amoung the so-called Palestinain moderates Fatah's support is now close to zero.

    Tony Blair is a joke.

All sides have long rejected the positioning of foreign troops on their territory.Presumably for sovereignity issues but also probably because no one wants monitors seeing what they are really up to and blowing the whistle.

How about putting an international patrol to make sure the borders are safe and open to legitimate uses?
    Patrols were effective in Cyprus.

I would be very interested to see what a peace plan that is acceptable to all sides including Hamas looks like and what changes it would require for all sides to treat eachother equitably. In the end i fear such a plan does not exist and will not exist unless both sides suddenly become reasonable and accomodating or one side damages the other beyond repair and a peace can be enforced by the victor at the expense of the vanquished.

I am starting to see the building up of resentment in the World against the Jews . It happens every few hundred years or less when the people start getting sick and tired of the Greed. Have you people had enough of the Madoff's, Abramoff's, Rubins, Wolfowitz's, Shecky the Lawyers, Fulds, Gldbergs, Silvers, Kristols, Frum, Podhoretz and the American Enterprise Institute?

What the He-ll is taking Iran so long to build a Nuke? They need to hurry up and build about 100 of them. Then lets see if Israel will continue it's Nazi like tactics in the Middle East. Come on Iran.

Today the US congress voted to back Israel in it's offensive in Gaza. I believe the congress made a big mistake by doing so. We're sending the wrong message to the Arab and Muslim world, in time President elected Obama want to better the image of America abroad, we're supporting a wrong war in a wrong time.
The best way to defeat the terrorist is to make it hard for them to recruit, and what Mrs. Pelosi did today is just the opposite. In supporting and following the Israeli agenda the United States of America is taking the wrong and costly path. The cost in blood and treasure of our support to Israel is clearly a huge burden on us (American tax payers).

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Yes, its a very big mistake. Even the vatican critsized israel for the palestinian area as a concentration camp which is the reality. The US is in the wrong side very clearly but what is new? Nothing.

      • Posted By: MBrando @ 01/10/2009 12:28:14 AM

What'is new? I think it's good think that we break the silence, it's good if we start to speak out and let others to hear the other side of the story.
I believe it's time for the American people to wake up before is too late.

I have read the posts and for those opposing the actions of Israel i would ask, what would you expect from your own leaders if your country was faced with an enemy like hamas and hezballah on your borders?
Only a fool would say that Israel has been blameless over the last 60 years but Israel has the right to defend itself when attacked.Hamas and Hezballah are both internationally recognized terrorist organisations whose leaders parrot the Iranian line of destroying the stain that is Israel. How do you propose to make a peace with these groups which are being used as frontline partisans by Iran and Syria to confront israel without these nations getting burned in the process.Iran and syria along with the other arab nations have all at one point or another prodded the Palestinuans into the firing line of Israel because it suited their purpose.Virtually none have taken in the Palestinians and treated them like brothers and equals but rather keep them in refugee camps where they are seperate and discriminated against.Hamas must be removed,by force if necessary and Israel must stop treating the Palestinians as if they were somehow less than human.

    • Posted By: MBrando @ 01/10/2009 12:17:25 AM

ross, I think you're asking the wrong question, in my opinion the question should be what would you expect from your own leaders if your country was faced with an enemy like Israel on your borders? an enemy who steal your land, starve your people, control your sea, your air and your land. An enemy who keeps making incursions and killing people even during an agreed cease-fire. An enemy who has no respect for human beings, shelling and shooting babies and childrens. You bet, I will ask my leaders to retaliate and if I'm in the age to fight, I'll fight back.
