Granted, some Christians--or at least professed ones--hypocritically and self-righteously condemn one area that the Bible discusses, according to specific agendas, like the Westboro Church in Topeka, while not showing love, compassion, and leading/helping others to repentance in any way. I am sorry for all of that, but that doesn't represent Christ's teachings and is a bad and wasteful example of our Christian faith.
The Bible is clear about homosexuality in at least 6 different books and epistles, three each in the OT and NT. The Bible "spends less time" on many other sinful behaviors that hurt ourselves, others, and our relationship with Him, but which doesn't preclude or negate those sins either. Actually, the topics, themes, and metaphors of marriage, money, Hell, and proper human judgment--based upon biblical standards--and eternal judgment are the most frequently occuring ones in the Bible, especially the NT, which don't actually agree with what we'd all prefer, and further contradicting your reasoning.
Biblical and true love in general extend to being honest about and/or warning us of word, thought, and deed that is, once again, harmful to ourselves, others, and our relationship with God. What's in our best interests or best for us isn't always "what feels good or right"--the consequences of actual medical and other science and social statistics have continually backed this up.
And, of course, in my previous comments I was also assuming that Haggard's church was a healthy, well-balanced, and biblically orthodox church, as opposed to one that teaches false doctrine, a cult, etc.
