I think it's easy for people to say what a liar, what a hypocrite, but even when he was doing these things, God still spoke through this man. The Church cast him aside like garbage, who is the Church to do this? I saw that man preach and I am not a Chrisitan, but I felt that he was a man of God. His sins was brought into the light.....Ok, get over it and put him out there preaching. But to kick him out and banish him? Who are you? Are you God himself? HAve you not sinned? The Church has this holier than though mentality, and if someone needs help, then they are cast to the side. People are helped if it benefits the Church, and others are cast away. I would laugh if this man of God came back and shook the foundation of Chrisitianity and becomes stronger in the Faith than ever before. Shame on the Church to turn your back when someone needs them for help, Didn't Jesud forgive? Why can't you?

    To RMP in Colorado Springs:
Sorry, I don't sympathize with you or the people of New Life Church (or with Ted Haggard either, for that matter). You have shaken your own faith and shown that it is founded on a "house of sand," to paraphrase Jesus, by putting it all in one man. Having grown up in West Virginia among evangelical and fundamentalist communities, I have seen this time and time again ---- congregations don't lose their faith due to the deceptions of a lying preacher, they lose it because they anointed someone as a so-called "messenger of God" (your own words) and focused all of their trust and faith in this "messenger of God" instead of on the "message of God."

You and the people of your church "shook" your own faith when you put it in a man and not in Christ himself. Having grown up in West Virginia among evangelical and fundamentalist communities, I have seen this same situation happen time and again. It doesn't happen because the preacher deceives the congregation --- it happens because the congregation deceives itself by focusing all of its faith and energy on a so-called "messanger of God" instead of on the "message of God."

Well, so while he continues to speak against homosexuals, gay marriage, and thnk its 'learned behavior', his actions and guilt speak otherwise. The sufferring he endures is karma for all the suicides, confusion, denial, disease, and drug use he promotes by dividing, shaming, isolating, and denying gays a happy and fullfilling life -free of shame, drugs, persecution. Rot in hell Ted, you deserve it.

Haggard did not struggle with these sins...he made a conscious decision to sin, period. Struggling with sin means that we are tempted...when we choose to sin, we are no longer struggling with the sin, we are sinning.

The quote from Haggard "is that bad things do happen in life" is THE MOST PATHETIC line of BS I have heard too many times from too many people. Bad things like this do not just happen. If he is the man of God as he says he is, he would be honest and admit that he chose (made a decision) to do these sins. Sin just doesn't happen...we have all chosen to sin in one form or another.

I must admit I feel pity for the man, despite the vast irritation inflicted by decades of holy-rollers yammering about sin, homosexuality, evolution and democrats. Maybe the guy's trying to be an honest man now. God help him with that.

The problem with Baker Swaggart, Haggard and, for that matter, Gingrich, Barr, Larry Craig, that guy from Florida is that they are GIGANTIC HYPOCRITES! They had no problem extolling others to be chaste and flaunting their Conservative Republican virtues while in the dark they were doing exactly what theyw ere preaching against.

What did he lose? Respect, legitimacy, credibility, dignity--the list is shorter of what he kept.
