I do not pretend to understand fully the perplexities of problems of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Concomitantly, I am objective in my views of that conflict in that I feel no particular allegiance to either the Israelis or the Palestinian peoples, except that I wish they would find resolution to their outstanding problems, whatever those problems are that are outstanding.
I do know this fact clearly, though; I am fed up with what appears to me to be Palestinian support for terrorist aggression against Israel. If someone is slapping me in the face and I repeatedly ask them to stop, and they continue to slap me and I continue to ask them to stop, then how can they protest when I finally ???slug??? them. Am I suppose to turn around and slap them back, or allow myself to use fully my physical force to end those repeated slaps that I continue to receive even though I ask for them to stop?
During the current conflict, I see an outcry from the Arab world over ???innocent??? Palestinians caught up in the war; but where is that outcry from the Arab community over Palestinians who strap bombs on themselves and blow up innocent Israeli civilians? It also perplexes me that the Palestinian people, who say they want peace with Israel, turned around and voted into power Hamas representatives to run the Palestianian government when Hamas has gone on record saying it wanted to destroy Israel. It is like me voting for George Bush or for the Republican neo-conservatives who want to use war to spread democracy in the Middle East when I am against the Iraq war and am against having American troops in that country and then later I complain about the United States' involvement in that war and having the presence of military troops in that country. If I voted for George Bush and the neo-conservatives then I pretty much can expect them to be aggressive in that part of the world, even using war as a tool of choice.
I know this fact. I am fed up with the majority of my life spent reading about and listening to the problems of that part of the world that seems to want Israel as a nation, destroyed. Perhaps I am missing needed understanding of the complexities of the Palestinians??? complaints, or they have done a poor job of explaining their grievances to me. From my perspective, Israel has a right to defend itself and to defend itself ???disproportionately??? to the continued slaps they get from Hamas and all the terrorist groups that the Palestinian folk seem to support.
