Yeah, I'm really looking forward to having the country run by left-wing liberals and popularity polls. Which ever way those winds blow, that's how Obama is going to lean...

I am tired of the politics of fear and comments below show it has worked. I think everyone should just watch what politicians do, not the rhetoric. Who is safe on this planet? Was it Cheney who kept us safe or was it others quietly working behind the scenes? Bush and Cheney are responsible for the deaths of young soldiers while they sleep in their beds and count their oil money. Countless Iraqi civilians are dead as well...there is a tribal conflict in Iraq, which we unleashed. By the way, how DO Cheney Bush and their ilk sleep?

You see all this bad talk about Bus???just wait a few month and you will wishe Bush was back....

the libral media can say anything they want about bush and cheney.
but what ever covert stuff they did or didnt do the one thing i do know is
i havent seen anymore planes flying into buildings!!

That's because they havent flew anymore into the buildings....everyone know who was behine this, this was the only way the could justify going to war, and especially a country that did not attack us, so if they where so concern with flying airplane into building, why did they not fly to Afghanistan and attack them like they did NY...Why !

And one more thing. Why is it that we cheer for '24' but when it comes to real life we think that playing nice to the people who want nothing more than to kill us because we do not live under Sharia Law is the way to go?! Death to the Infidels is not just a fun thing to put on a protest poster gang, it is a WAR CRY! We have got to hit them where it hurts to get what we need to save ourselves...what don't we get here? Cheney's right, Obama better think before implementing all of his campaign promises. It will happen again and sooner rather than later.

For me the article just appears to be one more of late trying to provide a historical 'make over' for probably the worst and most incompetent presidency in history. No one ever wants to mention that the 9/11 attack happened on Bush's watch in the first place. All these investigations and new laws were just to cover up their own incompetencies in the first place. Now they want to slap hand that no further attacks have taken place. 9/11 should have never taken place. Incompetence at it deadliest.

This is a tough one to comment on. Mainly because the intelligence community won't tell me anything.

Second paragraph second sentence, partial attempt at explaining (not approving, certainly)--"high fives" means hand slapping it is a gesture of agreed friendship and togetherness in a very existential sense of "welcome" to the cause, or congratulations. In this case, likely, Congratulations. "Spooks" is a mysterious term of probable sarcasm against the CIA who are spies and possibly in this event, maybe retirees, so they use a newly coined word, maybe, for retired spies? Moving on from the terminology, to the import of the sentence....it is interesting, whether the author is being seriously sarcastic and wanting the reader to complain vociferously for what is a scathing, possibly statement as much as Moore's "Stupid White Men" introductory paragraph that spoke of aging white men wearing dickies and drinking martini's at 5:00 PM, and, in that paragraph, Michael Moore was saying "this country is under seige" and we are captive to old men who are obviously drinking and evading proper responsibility of their deeds. To me, this sentence might be trying to use such sarcasm about men on their way OUT the DOOR, but enjoying their DEEDS (the high fives given is that enjoyment without shame as if success), and escaping without any contest, from accountability. So, they love the supposed approval of this country as if we did it. If we allow it, did we do it? Or did they do it? What, to me, is certain, is that it must not continue. A new election was supposed to restore both democracy and proper law and order, but I SAY the media refused the opportunity required by the November general election where the public should have had the opportunity to choose on the MERITS instead of believing the media hype of pretended American PURPLE status that we belong to the two corrupt parties willinglky. I do not. I am a registered independent and am NOT "undecided" between the two parties who have held power. I would welcome the REAL CHANGE and voted for NADER but knew the majority did not see the proper FAIR and OBJECTIVE CONTEST DUE for the honest government leader selected results. The public didn't mind? Maybe. Because they think all this isn't really happening and we still have a government even though 89% said OFF TRACK not ON TRACK during this election's campaign. Military is not the how to maintain peace. Proper respect for law and order is. And, a budget in the black on track.

I wonder why?
They have on an ongoing basis, given away American secrets, they have voted their releection chances, in almost every instance, not, what, is good for Americaa, but, what, will get me reelected.
I'm, also having some trouble, understanding recent Supreme Court Decisions.
The Supreme Court hs ruled that, the "State" has an overriding concern, in ruling that Americans can be forced to waear seat belts, allowing police officrs to come to you home and examine your children, on the basis of an anonymous telephone call, They have ruled the state can require you sell your home to the state, that you may be stopped in the pursuit of your lawful business, at roadblocks, as long as all parties are stopped.
The same Supreme Court, now rules, that we can't subject enemy terriorist to loud noise and sleep deprivation..
It seeems, to me that if there is a situation, where the "State" has an overriding interest, that would be it.
There is no question in my mind, that some of the people at Guantanamo Bay are going to be released to conduct heir affairs.
There is also, no doubt in my mind, that, there will be American citizens, that die as a reslt of that decision.
I can hope, only, that some of them are the people, that made the decision to release them.

I think Bush had a difficult job to face when he took office and the job just more difficult. There has not been a president that did everything perfect and Obama won't be any different. Obama may have some changes, they may be good and then again they may not be either. We all just need to see what he will do before we think he is the "cream of the crop". Obama is a politician like everyone else. We need to remember they are not a savior. Each Presient has had to make difficult choices in office and "We the People" don't see all the intel and not privy to private meetings. Obama won't be any different. I am not saying Obama will be better or worse. I am just saying just wait an see. ALL of America should support the President that is in office. We elected them!!! The world is changing and there is nothing one person can do (Obama). It will take the country to unite. Do you honestly think the US will be better? It will get better when ALL of us stand up for what is right. Not what is going to offend someone. The country was built on freedom. The freedom to choose to your religion, the freedom to make your OWN CHOICE. When we make a choice we should not lay blame. We put our officials in office and we are ar at fault too. Do you honestly think that Obama or another president can change the economy? We should all look at where the corporations are sending the jobs. It is not here! Do you think an official can change that unless we stand up. We put money in other countries and we can't completely control what they do with the money. I wish the world was clean of all terrorism, but there is always going to be a bully. You can't keep letting the bully do whatever they want just because some let them. I am more than positive that Bush, Obama, Reagan, Lincoln, Washington and whoever would not keep letting the terrorists do whatever they want. Would you? You can't fault any one president for handling a terrorist. We might not like what they do, but have we seen the full picture from beginning to end. It takes many reasons, choices, mistakes and actions on both sides. Yes, I would love to see peace in the world, but that won't happen until we fight for it. Just remember the soldiers, government officials and veterans who have had to make those difficult decisions. And just remember Obama won't be any different! There will be at time where Obama will have to make a decision that we don't agree with. The President (whoever he is) is only HUMAN - not GOD!

Just brace yourselves for Biden's "inevitability" my fellow American's, because you should be sure it is coming. That and a whole lot more HOGWASH like a record $150 MILLION on Inaugeration Celebrations when 300 million plus homes have been lost to foreclosure and a record layoff year. That's where his heart is folks. Half of us knew it, unfortunately the half that occupied the major cities did not....
