I've never seen an article display more undeserved pride of it's authors. There's a reason that some people are voted s president, some people live their lives and talk about it and some folks, as disgusting as this writer, choose to live their lives writing and trying to tell folks how to think. Interesting that everyone talks about "waterboarding" when the main intelligence gathering technique for our esteemed illegal combatants at Gitmo are various drugs. Remember that the torture debate was simply a smokescreen for the real methods. From the primitive drugs of WWII such as Scopolamine and Pentathol, to the new drugs that leave no traces, no memory and make a prisoner WANT to tell all he knows, torture is rarely used, except in Hollywood and the news media, which both have an unhealthy fixation on it. As for the inmates in Guantanamo, yes, we did break the rules of the GC's, as Article 3 requires the immediate execution of such combatants not found in uniform, on the battlefield. By capturing them, instead of simply shooting them, technically, that is a war crime. The GCs were made for exactly this type of event, where the enemy wears civilian clothing to hide and thus every enemy combatant was to be shot. No exceptions.

Also, for all of you pansys out there who have never served in the military a day in your life, there are much worse things we could do for information than waterboarding, and other nations do it. This never hurt these people. Getting punched in the face would hurt them more than waterboarding. If anything, it was a humiliating way to gain information. What is SO wrong with that?! Obama wants wars and then peace. He cannot have that. It is not Constitutional and it is not a change from Bush. Bailouts are tantamount to fraud. The budget that congress has authority to approve legally is the TAXES and nothing else. Oh yes, the people would RISE UP and scream against more taxes for UNWANTED WARS which Obama wants as his first action, and this article is trying to force as if WE WANT increased Presidential Offensives against Democracy and the Constitution. I would want him tried for treason and lying under oath, when IF he takes the OATH OF OFFICE his is REQUIRED to uphold the U.S. Constitutionally DEFINED duties which are those of a leader who is ABLE and, of course, it is very easily seen right now and was all along, he is NOT able, he is an incompetent incumbent with no sanity or safety or proper balance and no intent to UPHOLD the U.S. Constitution. He is required to do that in spite of his intentions to copy Bush offensives. BUSH should be impeached, and Obama needs to face his lies as SEEN CLEARLLY as intentional usurption of the Constitution. It is treason proclaimed in advance.

Coherent thought does not realize that principles "learned" in college do not quite translate so well in the real world. Would Kant have been able to persuade Al Quaeda to not cut someones head off?? I was able to goto an elite private liberal arts college but not be brain washed by it like you have. I hope Obama does free all the detainees and give them each 1 million US $ for every year they were detained. I hope these ex-enemy combatants move into the neighborhoods of the liberal elites with their new millions from the US gov. and then we'll see how these liberal Kant reading college grad mini philosophers feel then when one of these freed detainees commits a terrible act of terror.

This is obviously a right slanted article once again attempting to strike fear in the hearts of Americans. I am not afraid of the terrorists and do not believe we should be lured into joining them or their tactics. We are better than that, or at least used to be. My Grandfather fought in WWI and my Father in WWII and neither one of them had to torture anyone. We overwhemingly elected a man we believe will restore dignity to our country and honor to our people and flag. We, once again have someone in charge who is intelligent, capable of leading, who has the courage of his convictions and demonstrates enough creative thought to come up with more alternatives than this narrowly optioned article. For those of you who still want to purport blind and bull headed approaches to resolving today's complex world issues, go join another country who resolves their differences that way. For me and mine, I'll stay here and help create the change needed to restore the country I love to the example the world used to view as the pinnacle of the world. The world has always been more impressed by the power of our example and NOT by the example of our power.
