There are enemies in our country. They work continuously for the downfall of the United States. They are usually called Liberals,
This country is only saved by the prayers of the righteous (as well as our actions for the good).
Atheism, the Gay movement, abortions for the sake of convenience, irreverance oward God: these are some of the things that carry this country toward the edge.

":This country is only saved by the prayers of the righteous "

Well, then, why are we spending all that money on a military? All we have to do is pray to Baby Jesus, and we're fine.

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 01/15/2009 12:53:50 PM

      Don't forget rednecks like you!

Haha, yeah I said it!!! People like you are the real downfall of this country.

      To tropicalwaters:
Open your eyes and start using your brain. You are just repeating the lies you have been told over and over. Just because people make mistakes on both liberal and conservative camps should not prevent you from seeing the lying and immorality of Cheney and his accomplice, GW. You obviously prefer to keep your head in the sand. Sadly, that's exactly where the Haliburton crowd wants you to leave it.

      • Posted By: YashBudini @ 01/15/2009 10:39:06 AM

"You are just repeating the lies you have been told over and over."

That's why it's called brain washing. No thinking involved.

    • Posted By: Texas Jake @ 01/15/2009 8:04:43 AM

Now here is a perfect example of a typical zombie sheeple. Brainwashed beyond recovery. This guy sits in a dark room and talks to his invisible friend... And calls it activism. Totally pathetic. Yes, I'm judging.

Are you serious? What about the 8 years Clinton had. The CIA had Bin Laden in their sights 3 times and Clinton let him walk. Now your boy wants Hilliary to be Chief of Staff while Bill collects millions in contributions from foriegn nations.

Actually, I am no fan of Obama, Bush, or McCain and I certainly think that most of the press are a bunch of ignorant and pompous blowhards. But Obama wants Hillary to be Secretary of State. Of course, Rahm Emmanuel will be the Chief of Staff. Now Rahm was a Clintonite. Of course he is a Chicagoan (Gotta love those Windy City folks) as well.

Terrorists will do whatever it takes to achieve their goal. They will torture, maim and murder anyone and everyone who stands in the way. They do not understand mercy and democracy. To tie the hands of our law enforcement officials to "do whatever it takes" to bring them down and protect our nation and its people from harm is criminal in and of itself. But frankly, sleep deprivation and waterboarding seem meek compared to slitting innocents throats live on the web. Secrets need to be kept in order to protect those that protect us. Congress is a political organization and in many cases has had loose lips to further a political agenda. I don't blame the Busch/Cheney administration for keeping secrets. We have thwarted the terrorists so far, but if we loosen the controls, how long will that last? I am not advocating sadism, but I am an advocate for protecting those trying to protect us. I for one am glad that there are those willing to put their lives on the line to protect me and everyone else in this great country. How hypocritical that you would even suggest another country do what we ourselves are not willing to do. Terrorists are common thugs and should not fall under the protection of the Geneva convention and certainly not be treated as equals to an American citizen under American law. I wish people would worry more about solving world hunger, cancer or AIDS, than protecting the rights of a terrorist. The media needs to shoulder the blame for how our government is portrayed, instead of trying to belittle it all the time. Where is the patriotism and support irregardless of political affiliation? Will it take another terrorist attack to bring everyone together again? That thought saddens me to no end.

    • Posted By: eumu1 @ 01/15/2009 11:18:44 PM

My firend, you are really confused, are you not? I am saying this because of the inconsistency I read from your comment. You say for the terrorists the means justify the end, but you want to get rid of them "whatever it takes"?
In other words, your self-righteousness seems to be following the same priciple you despise against the "terrorists" who might have a good cause that might have been only exposed to a prejudicial treatment, which they have to live as if it were their own, like all of us do, of course with a few exceptions who are able to think about our own bias and prejudice, not to get rid of them but to ferment them for the order of life...

  • Posted By: derbysailor @ 01/15/2009 10:30:40 PM

When I read a comment that in every other sentence contains a reference to "liberals" I tune it out, as do most americans. But I do not hate these authors. They are of what they are. I am a veteran of vietnam. I did my job, came home, and got a life. I'm not weathy, but I am not suffering. These idealogues create some real angst however. This administration declaird it self above the common decencies of what his great county was founded upon. They should just go away and let us recover. It will will not be a short journey nor an easy one. Because all Americans, despite thier inate ability of reason, makes the whole that we are. God bless us all.

Listen, don't worry about your kind of dilemma which seems only half baked and corrupted by pursuasive purpose. First because you are dealing with a President who is known to many of his friends as a superb dialectician for the first time in the US history. For a dialectician, as for Obama, his presidency without dilemma, without conflict or paradox would be like eating a boilded egg without salt, or by virtue of dilemmas or subtle conflicting moments they say men are in love with life and want the passion to a biter end.

For example, Obama has already passed the first phase of dialectical approach, in regard to his relationship with Rev. Wright, because the real point of the concern was how to keep his negation of Jeremiah out of the whole context, just as his philosophy that "No child[man] is left behind in isolation," the isolation any reasonable dialectics abhors.

Nevertheless, the point is that once you get the contradiction of the subject matter, the issue essentially is over and done, because virtually everything else will turn clear and distinct, precisely with the pursuit of contradiction with the same aggression as in pursuit of individual happiness, which may be too subjective to bring about the moment of objective despiar in the mode of dialectical happiness.

    • Posted By: eumu1 @ 01/15/2009 10:27:19 PM

Listen my friend, you will get your idea clear when someone else intervenes and interacts with the same level of energy and motivation as you do with your own idea. However, you must provide some basics free of errors in your comment, if you really mean to represent your thoughts, since errors such as "Pursuasive" or "boilded" are very distractive and in fact, they may take away the already weakened attention of the readers from the soul of your comment, which is in this case the dialectician of Obama. But i am suspicioujs that you seem to trust the spirit of dialectics rather than the person, the President-elect you elected. Is this not true?

Trying to strengthen the powers of the president and vice-president sound like such a swell idea when the republicans were in power. They never stopped to think ahead to what it might be like for them when the shoe was on the other foot. Wasn't it Roves' idea to keep the republicans in power FOREVER? Never occured to them it might backfire.

  • Posted By: trex @ 01/13/2009 3:21:52 PM

America was founded with high ideals. It is only when we transgress those ideals that we run into trouble. If our immigration standards are sufficiently high, anyone who gets through them and lands in the United States should be subject to the same laws as everyone else. It is hipocritcial to have one standard for group A and a different standard for group B. The real challenge is keeping the terrorists out, not what to do with him once he is in.

In regard to the comment by Al Holmgren, one might point out that, because of the Allied abuse toward the Middle East after World War 1, the Arabs aligned with the Nazis during World War II

Back in 1953, (I wasn't alive then incidentally) I read that Harry Truman's poll numbers were very low because we had been in Korea and it was dragging out and he was largely blamed for the war. I don't know if his numbers were as low as Bush's, but 56 years history has been kinder to Truman. In 1969, LBJ left office after lying to America about the Gulf of Tonkin and by the time we pulled out of Vietnam in 1973 over 58,000 Americans had been killed. Now LBJ probably still bears alot of the ugly stain of Vietnam, but many have since praised LBJ for many reforms made under the "Great Society." My rambling point is that many of you want Bush tarred and feathered because of Iraq.He went into Iraq and no WMDs were found and the war has dragged out for nearly six years. But years from now how do we know how history will judge GW. I am no real fan of GW and I am also no real fan of Obama. And certainly we should all be glad that we have the freedom to get on here and post whatever we wish, but for those of you who think that W is terrrible that's fine, but history might be kinder in years to come. Likewise, to those of you who have been quick to say that Obama would be a lousy President (I have been ione of those) lets wait and see. No doubt Obama is stepping into alot of problems and I don't envy him. The only thing that I guess that I got tired of is that most of the press fawned all over Obama and that got tiresome. I realize that this was not his fault.

Gee Whiz... Sounds like Obama will be so busy cleaning up the terrible mess that the Republicans have gotten us into, he may not have time or room on his plate for current and future problems. Not to worry! Obama is such a good talker, he'll just explain them away - besides.. most of them originated with poor George anyway..Right? It's a good thinkg he won't have to use leadership, because he didn't get issued when they were handing him his opinions.

and why when he was told about the attack while reading a book to elementary school kids did he not even skip a beat, he just went on reading like nothing happened? didnt care enough to quickly address a terrorist attack of national importance that killed thousands of people in the biggest city in the nation?

yea, he did great. just like he did great with the katrina disaster. yup, he sure is leaving a great legacy behind him. 23% approval rating, 2 wars, natural disasters, and an economic meltdown that affected the entire world... golly, what good decisions has this man NOT made... he sure will go down in history as one of the best presidents weve ever had. he was also a gifted speaker....bwuhahaha!! sorry, couldnt keep a straight face for that one...

I see nothing has changed. The righties still yelling "FEAR!! FEAR!! BE AFRAID LIKE US!! FEAR THE (n-word)!! HE's IN THE WHITE HOUSE! OH .. DEAR .. GOD .. NOOOOOO!!!!! and they're still warning of an apocolyps all due to the N*****R IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!

Geez, their prejudicial fear and hatred is so transparent ... everything Obama ever does will be WORNG!! And everything he's responsible for will be EVIL!!! And then the arrogant righties will all be able to say SEE!! GOD TOLD YOU, HE RIGHTED THIS WRONG OF THE N****R IN THE WHITE HOUSE. NEVER!! NOT HERE IN THE CHRISTIAN GOD'S AMERICA!!!

These freaks yell "Marxist" and Communist" like they actually know what the heck either of those doctrines embodies. They scream "WITCH!! DAMN THE WITCH!! OBAMA IS A WITCH!!" and they all gather up their pitchforks and torches and head out for a good old time Lynchin'!

I'm a former conservative. When the conservatives began actually acting like the sister-lusting f***tards that they are stereotyped as being, I left .. no RAN from the party and the ideal.

I'm an American. Red, White and Blue blooded. And I've never been more ashamed to say that in my entire 48 years of being alive. This country and it's administrative supporters have allowed themselves to be led around by the nose, manipulated by FEAR to do the bidding of Shrub and his boys. And I am damned ashamed to say that I was once a supporter of this ideal and doctrine. Until I woke up and smelled the coffee. There is nothing worse than having the freedom to break away from "the crowd" (right wing lemmings I speak of) and think on your own and then NOT DO IT!

You right wing lemmings ... you have the freedom and the ability to break free from the obvious unlawful, UNGODLY actions of this current body of thinking .. yet you do nothing in the manner of excersizing that freedom. You simply sit there and let the world pass you by. Your God is not happy, nor impressed (btw, I'm a Christian as well.)

Have fun with that. Me and the rest of the world are moving on. You can either come along ..... or (to use words that might ring true with you) you can be LEFT BEHIND! :)

    • Posted By: YashBudini @ 01/14/2009 9:45:41 PM

If one examines the true definition of a conservative it actually makes a lot of sense. What doesn't make sense is that the RNC is doing, running the US as a corporate-ocracy. That's the real problem, and the sheeple who follow them regardless of what they do.

    • Posted By: NoMoreKoolAid @ 01/14/2009 9:57:31 PM

Far as I can tell, you are the only one saying that. I guess no red lenses doesn't mean no red face! Just because the majority on this post happen to believe that protection by any and all means of our country is paramount and you don't happen to believe that, you accuse and turn to scream prejudice. Maybe if you could hold a meaningful discussion other than resorting to name calling people just might want to hear what you have to say!

Swing and a miss. You don't get it. I'm not calling the names here ... I'm MOCKING the name callers. I'm not the one who's all about "labels" and "pidgeonholing" people.
