How can anyone of else judge the job of any president based on reporting of the media? As a common citizen, we have no idea of what goes on behind closed doors, and frankly I believe that if the American citizens knew some of what really happens, this country would be in an even bigger state of panic. Economic problems do not start overnight, and this current economic crisis can be partly linked to the policies set forth under the Clinton administration. The man (Bush) has his faults, but I for one am glad he was President during this time in our history. He made tough decisions, some of them have proven to be wrong, but at least he had the guts to make them at the time they needed to be made. He was not a perfect president, none of them have been, but the future will tell the whole story on what has happened over the last eight years. Until the entire book is written, we should withhold our judgement.

Typical Newsweek/US News/NY Times trash; One phrase of fact, then a paragraph of opinion. One verifiable fact, and then 'othr experts' (always unnamed) give several contravening opinions. It's not news; it's a FOR-PROFIT OPINION PURVEYING BUSINESS. Joseph Goebels would be proud of you guys!

Truly ignorance has played a role in the minds of Americans across this great nation. Not only has it been the cool thing to hate Bush but people also neglect to see the background view rather than the one the media has spun for them. Bush may have had mistakes but he has owned up to them. When looking at him though you can see he has done more for Africa than any other nation or President of the U.S. with the billions he sent in AIDS support as well as the dramatic relief he gave as far as reducing Malaria by a rough estimate of 70%. You can also see the tax break he gave on stocks to encourage people to invest more after the fall of silicon valley. Or perhaps we can see the tax breaks he gave to tax payers that Obama plans to NOT renew in 2010. You can also note that Bush began to investigate the negligence of loan companies before being persuaded by a few democrats to discontinue his investigation. (I forget the names at this point.) Before a person says Bush was all wrong, perhaps we should see him for the good he has done and the tough decisions he truly did have to face. Either way he did not turn his back. He faced them for us. Show some appreciation and perhaps do not skew your view by what is "hip" to think these days.

Once more we will be subjected to the bold nerve of this sociopathic man as he tries to BS his way into the hearts of the Americans he ignored, neglected, lied to, used and exploited. Lately there seems a concerted effort, mainly by those co-responsible, to sell GWBush (& Cheney) as an imperfect but honest and conscientious president and now he is going to give it another try himself. He is trying hard to overcome the strong negative feelings that he has created and is trying to do it the same way he has always done everything, by arrogantly and belligerently doing whatever he wants and then just spouting rhetoric, with cocky abandon, aimed to manipulate public opinion. It seems doubtful that this spoiled man has ever had a sincere thought for other than himself or ever even a conscience that inhibited him and now he is rightly stuck with the reputation he earned. It would have been better had he just gracefully disappeared but in any case, he should not be easily forgotten. The sympathy and forgiveness he doesn???t have the strength of character to ask for should never be his, as all who come after and those who supported him should know well that his style will never be tolerated again and GWBush should now live with the knowledge that he is thought to be ???the worst president ever???.

  • Posted By: AngelaMM @ 01/15/2009 1:38:44 PM

It is so sad to see America blame one person, and one person only, for where our country is going. Did President Bush. Americans blame Bush for the bad economy. Did Bush force thousands of people to buy homes they couldn't afford? Did he tell CEOs of mult-million dollar companies to waste their resources and mismanage millions and millions of dollars? Did he tell big firms to rip people off? Did he have anything to do with people making bad investmentts in the stock market? All these are decesions are ours, and out of of his control, yet we insist on blaming one person for our own mistakes. I'm sorry but the economy is bad because WE made mistakes. But I guess it's easier to find one person to blame, but NOT ourselves, righ?

It is interesting that the media is saying President Bush will be remembered as a loser. We have not been attacked since 9/11; the democrates, with their free money polices...starting with Carter and expanded by Clinton dug the hole we are currently in. The fun part is that now that they are in power they have to figure out how to pull the country out of this mess they created. I don't think any of them have a clue as to how to turn things around. I did not vote for Obama, but I am rooting for him that he will be strong enough to withstand the leftest onslaught against the great country...USA. President Bush did what he thought would keep this country safe and succeeded. We will now see what the democrates that have done nothing for the over two years they have held a majority in congress will do? They can point their fingers all they want but the plate of problems, piled high, is on their table and if I were President Bush I would retire to Texas and enjoy the show. I don't think he gives a damm about public opinion. He has done his job with little no help from either party as they mainly filled their and their friends pockets with taxpayer money and continue to do so. I am a twice retired executive of two fortune 100 companies and I have yet to see the tranparent view of those taking taxpayer money, or congress knowing where it went. I think those taking the handouts are a lot smarter than those doling out the money. If things were truely tranparent we would know how our money is being spent, the results of same and how much of it ended back int he PAC of those running for office again and again and again to stay in power.

I think until we know all of the truth we can't seat here and judge. Only histoty will tell. As for Obama let's not give him a free pass on mistakes becuse he is black or democarat. We should hold him tio the same standard as we did with Bush.
Saddly that's not going to happen.

  • Posted By: grappler @ 01/15/2009 1:35:03 PM

The argument that Bush and his associates lied to us is ridiculous. Everyone thought he had WMD including Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Hillary, and the rest of the world. It wasn't until we were actually there they we found out he didn't. Then people changed their minds. To late to pull out and let the radicals take over with millions dying. He made the righ call.

  • Posted By: NeitherLeftNorRight @ 01/13/2009 3:13:13 PM

All this talk about Bush keeping us safe cracks me up. We were attacked while he was the President! How is that "keeping us safe"? If he's responsible for the fact that they haven't attacked us since, why are you not giving him the responsibility for them attacking us in the first place?

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/13/2009 6:57:51 PM

Or why do they not see the gap in between the first WTC bombing and 9/11. They just don't understand the timing. They look for any shred, any excuse. Bush has not only made us less safe but exascerbated the problem for the future. Now it is one huge cleanup effort.

      • Posted By: pbpace @ 01/14/2009 12:04:15 PM

Psst..the first WTC attack, the Cole incident, and the east African embassy bombings happened under Clinton's watch. If we follow your 'logic' then Clinton's on the hook. There's a lot of blame to go around here. It's amazing how the lefies and righties overlook info that makes their team look bad.

        • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/14/2009 12:38:18 PM

I obviously was talking about individuals using the fact that we had not been attacked again after 9/11 cannot be used to signify the safety that the Bush administration provided. I never blamed Bush or Clinton for the attacks. My point was that there was a huge gap between attacks on American soil and Bush was not keeping us safe then...

So don't use that Bush has kept us safe logic. He has created more terror recruitment around the world an more distrust of our motivations after attacking the wrong country...

          • Posted By: pbpace @ 01/15/2009 12:45:42 PM

Fair enough. My bad. To what factor(s) do you attribute the lack of mainland terrorism (OKC not withstanding) between '93 and '01?

            • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 1:10:45 PM

I attribute it to the time it takes to pull off sometiing big without being exposed. If they wanted to attack, a roadside bomb wouud be pretty simple to pull of. That is not where they are at. They will hit us where it hurts, and that takes time fo complacency to set in public.

        • Posted By: pbpace @ 01/14/2009 12:09:51 PM

          Lefties..not lefies. My bad.

      • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/13/2009 8:11:37 PM

Whatis, your full of bullshit. Spin this up any way your feeble mind wants to, but we haven't been attacked in over seven years. And that's a fact.

        • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/14/2009 12:43:37 PM

Mty point is facts, and the fact that you call that bullsht is typical of Bush supporters. Redefine the meaning of Patriot and hero, dumbing it down to something political.

Not righties, not lefties, just low hangers that really make excuses for incompetence.

I can'[t really debate a Bush supporter, for the most part they support a team that cheats it's way through life. Can't have integrity and character, then stack the deck with loyals who are unqualified.

You are a Bush supporteer so you are unqualified to even make a statement. You support a team that is a fraud, so what are you full of????

          • Posted By: libertyfirst @ 01/14/2009 12:58:21 PM

Just what the hell is your team? The anti-Bush league? Great...besides blaming Bush for everything not right in your world, what do you want to see happen?

            • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/14/2009 1:19:45 PM

I don't have a team... I support good judgement and integrity. I detest politicizing the Justice department, further destabilization of the middle east. Pre-emptively defending our country without absolute evidence, and using it as a cover for other motivations. There is so much that goes against the values of our country that was the Bush administration, and has set us back on so many fronts that I really can't stand to hear Bush apologists.

He will go down as a failure, and I for one am saddened that he was not seen for some of the good things he did or tried. He was just not qualified, adn got overrun by the man that put himself in charge, the VP.

            • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/14/2009 1:13:32 PM

I don't blame Bush for everything. In fact, I believe he did not have the capacity or strength to overrule Cheney. I think he lives in a world inside his head that is not the world that all of us live in.

What I want to see happen is for our leaders to have integrity and character and posesss the intelligence and good judgement. Okay, well that is going a bit far, but it would be nice to have "grownups" running the country and not undermining our values, and our integrity as a nation. Not undermining the foundations of our Justice department.

The thing to understand is I do not blame GWB for being who he is. He is who he is. I just erally do not want a seven-eleven night manager running our country any longer.

        • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/14/2009 12:50:47 PM

You don't like facts??? Here, Bush kept us so safe, oohhhh, I felt like I was in such good hands...

Now that he is gone, maybe this country can get down to business. I can tell you one thing, the neocons are toast and that crap wont happen again. Look back and shed a lttile tear... I just hope that we can clean up the mess in this generation. I hope this country is never embarassed and run into the ground again.

What a mess we have to clean up, OMG!

  • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 01/13/2009 5:26:46 PM

Bush keeps making a point of the surge as some act of brilliance, yet the fact is when it was pointed out more troops would be required in the lead up to and the early days of Iraq those who made that point were removed from the chain of command by Bush.
But he still thinks history can be written with a blind eye and your grand children will think he's been a great President...I don't think so, the only debate will be if he is the worst President or only the second worst

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/13/2009 7:01:32 PM

I agree that Bush's actions have made us less safe in the long run. The SYMPTOM: our needlessly antagonizing the Islamic world in general and the Arab world in particular. The DISEASE: Our unquestioning support of Israel. I believe it was one of the main reasons we invaded Iraq in the first place and it's obviously why we're viewed as complicit in the Gazan carnage.

you sound alot like bush actually, not listening, not caring, saying others are wrong and your right and that you dont want anything to do with or hear about anything that is against your PERSONAL opinions.

Some of us have integrity, and value character, and intelligence. Why don't you??? Is that the best your team can do? Attack the wrong country, spy on Americans, cerate the axis of evil, corrupt the department of Justice (the department of Justice, wow, how low can you go?) Should I continue?? Create more terrorists and people that hate us, put people into jobs that are loyal, though not competent (brownie, you are doing one heckuva job:) )

And be smug and ignorant, the emporor has no clothes and is insecure and is kinda puny. Let's give him a badge and a gun.

Should I go on?? I will stop, Mission Accomplished...

The rest of us??? MAybe you should work for the Bush department of Justice. All you have to do is bend over and grab your ankles and say you are a Conservative. Well, maybe not, that got uncovered too. Funny they have to stack the deck, which in the real world is cheating, or illegal.

Continue to support the incompetence, of the little yippe kay yay puppet.
