To President Bush:
Dear Sir,
I voted for you and I prayed for you. But like so many others, I stopped supporting you long ago. Maybe you would like to know why? I stopped supporting you when you changed the objective. It is called "scope creep". You told me that we would go into Iraq, punish Saddam and check for WMD. I agreed to that. I never agreed to stay there for all these years. Bringing democracy to them was something else that I never agreed to. Those were your goals, not mine. We never agreed to that. You did what you wanted and didn???t care what I thought about it.
Saddam was dead, so were his sons. Gladly, we found no WMD. There then was no more reason to stay. Numerous lost elections and steady polls revealed what you didn't want to hear. Perhaps refusing to hear would be more accurate. And in refusing to hear "our" will, you chose to do what you wanted to do, not what we wanted to do. That sir, is not democracy.
I think you are a nice guy and I wish you well. However, I think history will view your presidency at odds with the American people, and thus at odds with democracy. You confused listening with pandering to polls like Bill Clinton. Clinton overdid it. You went to the other extreme.
By not listening to us, you felt your were adhering to principles. You thought you were being a good leader. We did not agree. And sir, I don't think history will either.
