Well, there certainly is a lot of celebrating going on. Here's a site I came across about hosting your own Bush Bashing party:

My dear fellow Americans, (including those ignorants):
Let me remind you that the Congress has to vote and approve a war, therefore, it was the dominated Democrat Congress that agreed and approved the war in Irak, whether your like it or not. As for the economy, let me also remind you that it moves by itself and it's cyclical. President Bush warned the Congress about the possible fall down on mortgages early in his second term, and got no support; instead, our wonderful "Robin Hood" Democrats, insisted that every American had their dream home, proposing very unreal loans and making them available to "all" the American people, who later paid the price and lost their "dream home" because they couldn't make their mortgage payments. With respect to the war on terror and the "torture" techniques used at Guantanamo Bay, I ask you this: What do you American people expect? Offer a cup of coffe to the suspects ans ask them nicely why they bombed the towers in New York killing thousands of innocent people? Please, American people, wake up!! After 9-11 , we have been probably the safest country in the world. Do you want again to welcome nicely to any foreigner and teach them how to fly planes again? President Bush will pass to history as the most understated President, and maybe in 20 years, people will understand his legacy. We have yet to see what our wonderful Obama Robin Hood has to do. One thing I can tell you: he will not fix the economy, he will not stop terrorism, and he will get your money in taxes as much as he can.

    • Posted By: BillyShears67 @ 01/15/2009 2:33:43 PM

Which is it, does the economy move by itself, or is it at the behest of Congress? And by the rest of your posts tone, can I assume that you don't want the economy fixed, or terrorism stopped? Have you ever wondered why were there no FBI agents concerning themselves with middle-eastern men who wanted to learn how to fly and not land? Might it have been because they were too busy with the Republican obsession with Clinton's sex life? As for torture, it seems like people that are o.k. with torturing are the people that would rat out their own mothers if it meant some reward for themselves. The parties that wish to do America(ns) harm are willing to die for their cause. Do you really think that any information obtained from them can be trusted?

      • Posted By: egrep40 @ 01/15/2009 9:58:20 PM

        Dear Little Grasshopper:
I'm not going to go deep into the fact that while President Clinton was having oral sex at the most respected work place of this country: the oval office, and his FBI agents were doing God knows what, the 9-11 atackers mean while were busy taking lessons on how to fly a plane and not land it, as you said. No, I'm not going to even go any further. But the fact that our President-elect Obama listened for years to his Pastor condemning the United States in all its means and promoting anti-US ideologies, and Obama without saying a word, and now this guy will represent my country, this fact makes me SICK.

        • Posted By: BillyShears67 @ 01/16/2009 10:49:35 AM

THAT is what is making you sick? You seem to part of the "America can do no wrong" crowd. Unless there's a Democrat in the White House that is. Don't you get it? The whole Wright "controversy" is a non-story used to rile up simpletons. It looks like it worked.

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 10:35:42 PM

While were at it, we might as recognize that Dubya got a memo that said Al Qaeda was determined to attack imminently on U.S. soil, and he did nothing.

    • Posted By: deeahardy @ 01/15/2009 2:33:32 PM

I truly believe getting rid of Bush will do more to get rid of terrorism than Bush ever did. No thanks to you. You voted for him and that vote alone has hurt us more than the so called terrorist. They wanted to hurt the financial community and Americans individually. Believe this, they succeeded. We are in a world of Zhit because Bush focused on the wrong people (Americans). And you were not excluded, you just think you were. Big Ben declared war on our economics and what a war it has been. America still has not realized who we should have been fighting. But, I understand because the enemy was hidden behind the Bushes.

Please, no partison crp. This is serious and is not about democrats or republicans. They both failed us big time. This is about holding our leaders accountable, and they should be held accountable not have somebody spinning their historic failures. Step up and support America and it's values, not some partison bullsht spin...

If you routinely surround yourself with like minded advisors, and make it clear through your actions dissenters will be fired; can you actually claim to consider a wider view in decision making? The answer is no.
Any thought that Bush was manipulated is ludicrous, he is not just the "Decider" but also the manipulator.
He installed like minded people through out the Government, the most news worthy being in the Justice department.
Bush accomplished exactly what he intended to accomplish with the possible exception of privatizing Social Security, and we can thank our lucky stars and congress for that,

The problem is Bush is totally devoid of any real empathy for Main Street or any real concern for America at large, and the best anyone can expect is his oft statement, "America will recover" Yes we will but it will be in spite of him and what we have to recover from is what he has done to America.
Bush had more than enough opportunities to be a great President the most significant was the world wide support America had just after 9/11 quickly squandered in favor of invading Iraq as Alan Greenspan noted in his book "For Oil"

In view of the fact Bush has accomplished exactly what he intended to accomplish. No doubt the reason he has difficulty finding fault with his term in office or admitting any missteps is simply because in his mind there are none.
Incompetence falls short of accurately describing GW Bush.

    Bush has done exactly

Four more days until history. F-O-U-R. Mark your calendars for a true changing of the guard. It's why the Constitution was written!!!!

What's with these reply buttons lately?

Vypurr, I agree on the Pres. Bush numerous unflattering photos on NW. Not fair.

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 9:38:25 PM

Hey Pia, how are you this lovely evening? Yep, dizt that she was, NW did the same thing with Palin. You'd never see a goofy, unflattering look from Obama or Michelle on Newsweek.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/15/2009 10:25:07 PM

Hi Vypurr. I'm very well thank you. Hope you are too.

Sarah Palin-difficult to make her look bad since she's very attractive. She even looked good squinting and winking..lol. I still dont like her though. My sister does..I need to smack that girl around!

Did you listen to the Pres. farewell speech? I listened to a few minutes only because all these farewell speeches make me tearful( go ahead Harley and others, yell at me!) no matter which Pres. leaves office! When they die, I cry for days! I really cried when Pres. Ford died. He was a really good man.

        • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 10:40:53 PM

          Hi again Pia,

I did not watch the farewell thing... I am not so much a Bush supporter as I am a "let's get on with it" type American. After all is said and done, I think Obama was the best choice for our president, and i support him. I think Sarah Palin will learn from the experience, but there isn't any way she was ready for VP. I hope the hate for Bush will die down in a year or two. I know I appear harsh with certain people here at NW, but I grow weary at the incessant nonsense regarding Iraq and Halliburton. If they can prove it, do so, if not, can it. The constant whining is more than annoying.

Anyway, always good to read you! BTW, I liked Ford also, a good man who served his country so well.

          • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/15/2009 11:09:20 PM

Good comment and I feel the same. Vypurr-you remind me so much of someone. Your posting style, your views, beliefs and opinions and you both live in the big D. Uncanny.

            • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 11:45:55 PM

I hope the I remind you of a good person! In the meantime, I have to get some sleep... I have a early morning flight and won't be back for a few days. Til then, take care and keep Harl in line! Lol! ; )

        • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/15/2009 10:41:28 PM

PS Vypurr- I have seen unflattering photos of both Michelle and Obama on NW. For one, the photo where he looked darker than his skin tone really is. I have also seen a couple of Michelle's and then of course no need to mention all the cruel and offensive comments made about her facial features, her body size and shape and feet by posters who hate her. One particular poster has referred to her as "monkey" a few times. Very cruel.

As time will reflect the history of Bush's administration and his supporters, Bush and Cheney, will hold a karmic debt of tremendous accountability of 2 terms that destabilized a nation in peace and prosperity. Hindsight tends towards 20/20 vision of a leadership deluded by superior wisdom and virtue. So many Americans have become homeless, died and/or injured as a result of a very expensive war, and been robbed by the allowance of rampant deregulation of banking, wall street, major corporations, insurance companies and so on. With more exposure of robber barons that emerged during his terms, it is no surprise that middle class Americans have lost their jobs and their homes. There is a question in anyone's mind that had Bush's team done the math before engaging in war, who were actually paid 10 billion a month for the war effort, major companies? And those that already benefitted from his administration felt that they needed to make a last ditch effort to ask for more billions before his term ended. Another question must be posed, should there be another family member in past presidencies be allowed for a presidential election? Are the American people promoting dynasties or democracies? Only time will tell. Hopefully, history does not repeat itself.

  • Posted By: pietas @ 01/16/2009 12:20:52 AM

"Did Bush's own innocence and incompetence drive his missteps? Or was it the people around him, primarily his vice president, who manipulated him into his major bad choices?"

This is a false choice. Both can be true, and probably are-- Because he was "innocent" or ignorant, anyway, and incompetent, he allowed others to manipulate him. Competent people don't allow others to manipulate them.

You're still trying that futile quest of trying to find something, anything, that means the MSM didn't utterly fail to describe while it was happening how utterly venal and corrupt this president was. So you call him "innocent"? He's a grown man. Whatever he is, he's chosen to do-- and you as a reporter also chose not to call him on it.

  • Posted By: Fideliz @ 01/16/2009 12:11:58 AM

So many have been wounded during the Bush's administration. The errors in judgment have cascaded catastrophically for the American people, probably down to the next generations. Some things just cannot be ignored as so much damage has been done and may not be totally undone. We can only hope that the following administrations can unravel and redirect efforts to peace and prosperity once again. As for Bush's legacy, it is totally shot to pieces as reflective of those he left dismantled, but not undefeated. All Americans during these difficult times have only to rise above from the ashes and eventually move forward towards target correction in preserving peace, multiplying our efforts and mindfulness in enriching and strengthening our people. "In God we trust."

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/15/2009 10:45:01 PM

Why is Al Gore an idiot? he did a pretty decent job as VP. In fact both he and Pres.Clinton did a good job those 8 years. Maybe it was coincidence, but still, things were good.

Newsweek Magazine and this propagandist (with all his baloney) are examples of the biased, and phony media. Newsweek is a joke of a magazine because they choose to publish used toilet paper like this, defiled by the hate mongers crap.
President Bush will go down in history as a great president - because he saved the USA from destruction by the terrorist Muslim extremists.
The spineless jellyfish -pacifists on the extreme left of the political spectrum (run in a large part by socialist/communists both inside the mass media and inside the Democratic party) have done more damage to the long term health of the USA as a nation by using the non-stop 24 hour news cycle and the internet to bombard the public toilets (publications) with crap-bombs; targeting President Bush, the U.S. Military, and the conservative supporters of responsible national Democracy in the United States of America.
May God Bless President Bush for his commitment to preserve and protect the Constitution and the U.S.A. from all the crap that morons like jacob weisberg throws. Weisberg should look in the mirror and thank God that President Bush stood up for 'him' and kicked him in the rear repeatedly in an attempt to help him pull his crap covered head out of his behind.

TO ANTHONY IN MANHATTAN AND ALL THE CRETINS WHO DEFEND BUSH.
HE DID S--T TO DEFEND US. NOT ONLY IS HE A DAMN DRAFT DODGER, HE SENT OTHER PEOPLE'S CHILDREN TO THEIR UNECESSARY DEATH (HARDLY HEROIC). HE CAUSED THOUSQADS UPON THOUSANDS OF OUR SOLDIERS TO BE MAIMED OR CRIPPLED AND THEN FAILED TO MAKE SURE THEY GOT PROPER MEDICAL TREWATMENT AND IN FACT CUT THEIR VETERAN BENEFITS.
AS FOR THE MEDIA, I'VE HEARD ENOUGH FROM THOSE SCUMBAGS, LUSH LIMBAUGH, LOUD MOUTH SEXUAL HARRASSER, O'RIELLY AND NINCOMPOOP HANNERITY.
INCIDENTALLY, SINCE YOU ARE SUCH A PATRIOT AND HERO, WHY DIDN'T YOU VOLUNTEER TO GO TO IRAQ?

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 9:47:49 PM

      Turn off the caps.

    • Posted By: pitolargo @ 01/15/2009 3:30:03 PM

Get your facts right. He wasn't a draft dodger. He was in the Texas Air National Guard. Sen.Lloyd Bentsen's (D) TX son was also in the unit. The Lib press forgot to mention that of course. While I agree they used their connections to avoid Vietnam they didn't dodge the draft Like Clinton and Cheney did. Bush has made many mistakes and he has upset me also but, I also have to give him credit for what he has also done right. You asked the other poster if he went to Iraq. Did you? Have you ever served? I also didn't go to Iraq but, I went to Nam in 70-71, Grenada 83, and Panama 89 during my 20 years in the Army.

  • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 8:59:51 PM

I always get a kick out of pictures Newsweek uses. You have Obama in flattering, black and white beautiful still pictures with captions such as "A Lion in Winter", while they have GWB in with goofy, shitty looks on his face. They do it over and over.

Please NW, just tell us your biased!

Jacob Weisberg is a traiter. He is full of hate and does not appreciate the freedom provided by democracy. Instead he uses this freedom to spue his erroneous views of Bush to the public. His ideas about George Bush are splattered with resentment and unadulterated misinformation. Weisbery would do better supporting Bin Laden and terrorism because his ideas are in line with the propaganda and hatred of evil people.

  • Posted By: idmrich @ 01/15/2009 8:28:18 PM

Jacob Weisberb is a traiter. His personal views of George Bush are fostered by hate. Weisberg would do well writing about Bin Laden and promoting the cause of terrorism. He is not a man who makes democracy a way of life to protect and foster. I find Weisberg to be a disgusting example of verbal diarrhea.

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:06:12 PM

It was such a cheap trick and I have a hard time even discussing Bush with his supporters, they seem so thick not to see the deception. They seem so blinded by whatever ideology, or whatever. Don't know what thier trip is, but they seem pretty happy about it all. They are either high or just really dense...

Wow, the Bush supporters cannot handle the truth... Denial, excuse after excuse, distraction after distraction... They were taught to think that way by a party stuck in the 50's and devoid of anything close to in touch with the facts on the ground.

They value party and ideology over truth and integrity. They value party over country, and would sell this country down a hole to save an incompetent impotent wannabe poser puppet.

I'm a right winger myself, because I never trusted communism nor socialism. If someone worked hard for their stuff, others should not simply take such stuff away from them. However, I think Bush has been a major disgrace for the right wing in general. Today, around the World, most young people admire Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong, as major heroic figures worth of imitating and following, which comes to show that a huge amount of people (if not the majority) today have totally positive views of communism. Something similar about Islamic radicals (emphasis in the word radicals, I'm setting apart a group). I think it all of this is largerly due to Bush's mis-achievements. Bush caused more damage to today's right wing sectors than all of the anti-right wingers combined.
