Newsweek thinks W is the worst president ever. Now that is a real shocker.

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:36:00 PM

I know, they are getting it right this time... I would disagree though on teh point that Cheney was the real president fo 6 of the 8 years...

Newsweek thinks W is the worst president ever. What a shocker. Unbelievable!

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 2:48:21 PM

Yes, how could they ever think that?!

      • Posted By: Arch Card @ 01/15/2009 3:15:20 PM

Probably the same folks who told us Al Quaeda was not in Iraq.

        • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:34:49 PM

They were not in Iraq. That was not initially Al Qaida. I thought everybody already knew that like years ago.,..

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 3:37:44 PM

Al Qaeda had far more presence in Iraq after the invasion.

  • Posted By: jmsglr @ 01/15/2009 2:44:46 PM

Freddie and fannie F-d up the economy and congress didn't have to support the war in Iraq, I still think Bush was the lesser evil...................Gore would of been worse, he would of bankrupt the country to get his Green Power agenda going to line his pockets, just goes to show what party politics can do to a country and the foolish who support party politics.

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:33:06 PM

a, bush is the lesser of 2 evils, Bush and Cheney...

  • Posted By: Lehialan @ 01/15/2009 2:48:13 PM

You Clinton supporters seem to forget that he lied under oath. It doesn't matter what Bush or anyone esle did. Clinton lied and that is a fact. I doubt that many of you allow your children to lie just because someone else did the samt thing or worse. Think about it!

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:32:02 PM

Wow, that is teh lamest excuse for incompetence in the Cheney/Bush presidency I have ever heard. Do you value accountability??? It appears not...

You went to Clinton... Whikle i never supported Clinton, Bush is a pimple on his a$$... Pull your head out of Bush's a$$, maybe go ask the GOP party how they are doing with regards to following that Poser in office Bush...

      Jesus Christ!

    • Posted By: BillyShears67 @ 01/15/2009 3:13:17 PM

Lied about what? Something far less consequential than invading a country. So he had dalliances with an intern, so what? Is that justification enough for you to focus the country's intelligence community on who called who how many times and who was in the Oval Office when?

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 2:54:48 PM

Never was a Clinton supporter, but even with that perjury, he was never nearly as bad as Bush.

  • Posted By: callasisee @ 01/15/2009 2:54:14 PM

It's easy to be an arm chair quarterback after the game. Truth is, we do not and will not know what Bush knew on, before or after 9/11 but his actions made this American proud. Attack us and we retaliate. Take the shoe throwing incident; if Bush had gone after the guy who threw it and beat the hell out of him, I would have been proud! America needs to stand for strength through peace yet when attacked, retaliate without hesitation and attcks will soon stop on our homeland. Our soldiers are fighting for someone else's freedom and those people hate us for helping them. That is a "defining" moment!

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:29:11 PM

So why the fuc then did we attack Iraq???

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 01/15/2009 5:00:11 PM

I'm sorry I'm such a cold, callous, SOB but fighting for freedom is a poor reason to go to war...unless you're fighting for your own. Whose freedom are we fighting for? MORE IMPORTANTLY, do "they" even WANT our version of freedom (liberal democracy)?

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 3:00:16 PM

We know he had a memo that said Al Qaeda what determined to attack on U.S. soil.

  • Posted By: mrmullis @ 01/15/2009 1:41:54 PM

Bush is great!!! I cannot believe the scapegoat he has become. If Obama could be half of the true leader Bush is it would be a wonder

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:16:56 PM

A relic of a person. One of the last of the Bush supporters. You wonder if they will ever pull their head out of his a$$ long enough to see the world as it erally is, and understand what a true patriot is, or a real hero is, or what true values and character and integrity are.

Bush supporters seem to not understand the meanings of those things. They just make lame excuses we laugh about and say, Jesus Christ!

This was such a horrible and bias peace of writing that isn't even worthy of being published. If you have not forgotten President Bush did win a second term. He did an outstanding job and will be missed by many. Now all we have to look forward to is a very inexperienced person that we do not even know yet about to run our great country. Who will be behind President Elect Obama's decisions for we know that it will not be his own.

    • Posted By: Boston Irish @ 01/15/2009 1:49:40 PM

I agree 100%. I hope Obama gets bashed by everyone when they realize he's not perfect. Bush did not always do what should be done, but this is all in retrospect. He did what needed to be done ASAP. Maybe if he took a few days and really thought about what should be done, it would be too late for anything to be done. Then, he would get bashed for not doing something, anything.

      • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 6:11:00 PM

Wow! Bush isn't getting 'bashed', the truth is coming out, and people are sick of hearing about how great this incompetent Cheney puppet was. He was a god damn disaster for this country, and the guy who picks up my garbage on Monday would have performed way beyond what Cheney/Bush did...

Are you in the wilderness with the GOP??? How is it out there?? Don't compare Bush to Obama or any other president repub or democrat. He was not our leader, he was a poser, with little to no integrity, or values, and the moral equivilent of a grade school bully punk sittig at home playing with his father's guns...

We don't need a coalition, we're the United States of America. It's a reckless attitude that has had a negative impact on the world stage. He knew the info was shady on WMDs. He should have stayed focused on Afghanistan and we would have a better situation but nnnoooooo, he had to go and push it.

I love how the Bush backers only have ONE single accomplishment they can cling to. Isn't one catastrophic attack enough to justify the complete failure and utter ineptitude of Bush? How many more blunders have to take place? He cannot be out of office fast enough for myself, the country, the whole world.

    • Posted By: Gooser @ 01/15/2009 1:57:56 PM

The attack that was Clinton's fault? OBL wanted to get back at Clinton for cruise missle attacks against AQ, THAT was the reason for 9/11, not anything Bush did. Are you people slow, or something?

      • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 5:51:43 PM

Actually OBL said it was for us infidels setting foot in Iraq...

  • Posted By: pro2be @ 01/15/2009 1:56:08 PM

Very sad to see such a narrow and biased view make the front page. The same accoutnts that the author describes as a negative, you can turn another way. History will show that Bush was instrumental in removing one of the worst killers in history, Saddam. This economy and 9/11were set in motion and the responsibility of Bill Clinton...The true worst president. Bush was absolute in his decisions and did not allow people who did not know or understand all the facts to sway the decision of the greatest good. It takes great and courageous leadership to make hard decisions for the betterment of man kind.

    • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/15/2009 5:47:57 PM

Ya, you have to project out into teh future because there is nothing sane for you to justify Bush's incompetence with in real time. We already have 8 years of history. And hopefully yes, we will clean up the mess he made and much of his stain on this gerat country may be forgotten. But most of us will never forget how grossely low his supporters set the bar. They talk about values and character, and I found that they have not the capacity to judge those things, that is why they supported a parking lot attendent for president...

Right now Bush is one of the biggest failures and the fact that Cheney ran the office for 6 years shows how truly sad the last 8 years were. Total lack of integrity, toatl lack of good judgement, total lack of character, lacking in sanity, very insecure, a kid with a badge and a gun.

As far as history is concerned, he will go down as truly an inspiration to people that cannot hold themsleves accountable, cannot tell the truth,, adn do not understand the values of this great country...

Bush's warnings that another attack is Obama's biggest worry may well be actual THREATS to orchestrate such an attack
Bush is the devil -- only Sarah Palin could possibly be worse for freedom, for America and for the world

Not only was Bush a disaster on every level, I believe the war in Iraq was started so he could run for a second term as a "war President." No sitting President has ever lost an election when our country was at war. His father did not go to Baghdad in the first Gulf Coast war because he knew it would involve years of occupation and that is precisely why 43 did. The redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the very rich is why our economy is in such poor shape. The middle class is the engine that drives our economy. This was clearly evident during the Clinton years. Bush 43 may not be the worst President ever (Hoover, Grant), but we won't know for awhile whether the "mistakes" were due to incompetance, naivete, manipulation, or greed and graft. It seems likely a combination thereof. Even gross incompetance could not explain all the mistakes, though Bush 43 was obviously grossly incompetant.

    • Posted By: Zale-Bay-Hah @ 01/15/2009 2:03:41 PM

You know, it really doesn't matter what people think... who are they, and who are you...? Of course, there were mistakes made, but no one is perfect; did you vote...? Are you for what is popular...? Are you for what fits Your Agenda...? The Word of God says, There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. In other words, What really matters is what GOD thinks, and only his opinion matters. When you die and stand before the judgement seat, do you think GOD will be interested of this topic? NO! What will matter is , "What did you do with Your Life"? My Son, JESUS died upon that wretched cross and as the nails were being driven into his hands and feet, YOU were on HIS Mind, what have you done? Will you hear,"Well Done thy Good and Faithful servent! or Depart from me you worker of iniquity, I never knew you...

Bush and Cheney are criminals and should be held accountable for what they did to our economy and to the worlds economy. Americans have never been as hated as we are now and as Americans we are responsible for allowing someone so incompetent to run our country. He wasn't qualified to run any of the large business's, and he would have been fired as soon as the accounting showed such large losses due to his incompetency. Lesser criminals serve years in prision, and these two and their cronnies not only go free, but have profitted from our losses. Americans who voted for him have gotten what they deserve, but the rest of us have to suffer as well. What he did to this country is criminal and he should have to pay for his crimes.

    • Posted By: wilder @ 01/15/2009 2:06:43 PM

What did he do? Kept us safe, retaliated for the killing of innocent civilians on 9-11, lowered taxes and created jobs, kept us out of a recession that started on Clinton's watch, amde schools accountable for tax payer money? What did he do that was criminal?

How about the Democratic congress, what have they done since 2006? Ran up trillion dollar deficits, and now they are going to sign a blank check for more? That's criminal!

40Year, the reply won't respond below... good question, but yes I think they volunteer, knowing there's no draft, for a reason. If they felt as some do on this board, they would never enlist knowing they were going to fight a war they didn't believe in.

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 12:02:19 AM

Hey Vypurr, Good to talk. There will never be any difference between us regarding the unyeilding commitment, patriotism, and unquestioning willingness to execute orders of our military personnel. A successful military could not be constructed any other way.

he other questions I had in mind when asking the question included whether, considering the debacle that has ocurred, that serious consideration should be given to the earliest practicable extraction from the danger they volunteered to expose themselves to.

      • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 12:17:28 AM

I'm sure many do leave the military when their duty is up, but a good number re enlist, as our family member did. He did not re up again because he wanted to spend more time with family. You and I talked about this once before I think... I along with so many others wish this war had not happened, but we're there, and they are trying to finish the job. I want to let them. Good seeing you.

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 12:35:18 AM

We agree that all worthwhile and attainable jobs should be completed. I think I used the word 'practicable' to mean that, or..... that's what I meant....

Letting them finish the job should only as defined by superiors. We have a willing military. I hope our leaders can find a way to finish what can be done, and then get those heroes out of harm's way.

          • Posted By: Vypurr @ 01/15/2009 7:26:00 AM

Patraeus is on line with Obama in that they both want the war over as quickly as possible. Obama trusts him, as he would not have left him in place if he didn't. Leaving the military to do its job, rather than continually remind them how much Bush is hated and everything they're fighting for is to line the pockets of Halliburtion only undermines their efforts. We need to let Patraeus do his job.... it is the best answer to get this over with asap.

            • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/15/2009 12:14:55 PM

I agree. Petraeus knows the most about the conditions and how best to deal with them. Obama seems to have legitimately sought knowledgeable people who will give it to him straight. Obama is a good listener and a good assimilator. This occupation is literally a conundrum. How to proceed from here does not appear to have a clear, straightforward, only-one-right solution. Fortunately, I do believe we have a wise leader who will try to guide us through this thicket taking into account the counsel of knowledgeable advisors. That's about the best we can hope for now.

I'n not done whuppin' up on Bush, Cheney, the neocons or Halliburton though.

40Y, as usual, you seem to spend most of your time at NW getting the mule out of the ditch, rather than screaming at it and beating it because it's there. It obviously makes more sense to support the Iraq effort and try to get the war over as soon as we can.

Thanks for your comments 40. Now lemme see, your Millie, that makes me Vanillie.... lol : )

Once more we will be subjected to the bold nerve of this sociopathic man as he tries to BS his way into the hearts of the American people he ignored, neglected, lied to, used and exploited. Lately there seems a concerted effort, mainly by those co-responsible, to sell GWBush (& Cheney) as an imperfect but honest and conscientious presidency and now tonight he is going to give it another try himself. He is trying hard to overcome the strong negative feelings that he has created and is trying to do it the same way he has always done everything, by arrogantly and belligerently doing whatever he wants and then just spouting rhetoric, with cocky abandon, aimed to manipulate public opinion. It seems doubtful that this spoiled man has ever had a sincere thought for any other than himself or ever even a conscience that inhibited him and now he is rightly stuck with the reputation he has earned. It would have been better had he just gracefully disappeared but in any case, he should not be easily forgotten. The sympathy and forgiveness he doesn???t have the strength of character to ask for should never be his, as all who come after and those who supported him should know well that his style can???t ever be tolerated again and GWBush should now live with the knowledge that he is identified as ???the worst president ever???. His (& Cheney???s) legacy is literally our pain, his irresponsible and arrogant self-indulgence that is being paid for continually by the average American and now he wants everyone to give him esteem, how utterly ridiculous!
