No, No, No... I look forward to "24" all year long then spend an hour afterwards with my soninlaw going over the show again. Dull? Sure, sometimes, (last year was a bummy season) there is a sleepy moment, but, OMG, I am soooo tired of reality shows and stupidity on television. I am 65, my husband 74. What do we do? We stay home a lot and watch television. What do the 18 to 49's do, go out to play, soccer games, little league, etc.... No, not watching television. We old , old, old people watch it and also, SURPRISE, we buy things, we spend our money, SO stop with the dumb shows and leave a few on for us!!!!

    Superman wears Jack Bauer pajamas.

Ha, what did you expect? Sorry you don't enjoy it as much as you used to, but what gives you the right to say it's no longer worthwhile? What's happened to journalism? I used to want to be a writer, now I think I would be ashamed.

I am a dedicated watcher of Jack Bauer and 24 and have been since it's start. It is funny that even the new presidents press secretary should refer to Jack in his first press conferrence. May, Joshua, you are more enthralled by the stupid reality shows that watse tv air time.

I found this article boring and predictable. Maybe Joshua Alston should get a new job, seriously, newsweek is all about negative things. So to show Josh what to do when things get this way, I'm never coming back to Newsweek.

    Hey Genius,
If you are tired of wishing you could be like Jack Bauer then change the channel and leave everyone else alone, Honestly, can you think of something better to replace it with? You might be tired of it, I became tired of it a couple of years ago, but I found something else to watch. Now I watch NATGEOI, History, Military, and TruTV to zone out on, there doesn't seem to be anything that keeps me watching more than 5 min. It's all remakes and airhead shows with cussing and nudity to some degree - no substaniance.

Are you kidding... it was and is STILL GREAT!!!! It's not a reality show, it is exciting and interesting. I watch very few shows now religiously EXCEPT 24...

So glad you THINK you know what you are talking about........you are way off here!!!!!! I would much rather watch this show than any reallity show on the air.

You're nuts. I love "24" and Jack Bauer. Perhaps part of the reason I love it is the consistency. When they strayed in Season 6, everyone said it was their worst season. I'd rather watch Jack in action any time than the endless parade of vapid doctors and lawyers.

There's very few shows I watch on TV anymore, but '24' is one of them. I find 95% of 'reality' TV to be about as 'real' as my grandma's teeth, not that I think this much drama goes on in our government (ever watch C-Span?) But '24' remains interesting season after season.

I stopped last season. Now I'm all about Supernatural. Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erlnF7Xq45M it's hilarious.

Joshua, you have lost your marbles!

Apparently Mr. Alston is the only one bored by "24". I find it as exciting and riveting as in years past. The reason you know what's going to happen is because this show has been on the air. It's the same as knowing which isle you need in the grocery store - familiarity. There's nothing boring about this show but I found your article a real snooze!

This article is based on the assumption that 24 viewers are looking for something new and innovative in the show, and this assumption could not be more flawed. Sure the plots are formulaic, I'll admit that. But do I care? Hell no. Of course there's gonna be terrorist threats, conspiracy, etc... What would 24 be without it? The reason we keep coming back to watch 24 is so that we can indulge ourselves in an hour of adrenaline packed plot twists and action on an otherwise vapid Monday night. We don't want 24 to change, we like it the way it is. Thats why we watch it in the first place. So stop whining, sit back, and watch Jack Bauer kick some terrorist ass.

Are you crazy, man? I, and am sure many other hundreds, found the long-awaited return of "24" absolutely fantastic and well worth the wait!! Jack is back with a vengeance and the new cast, new storylines, etc. were as good as any movies I've seen lately (and that is a large number). I guess we'll see who agrees with whom when the ratings are out although I thought it was pretty low to run it against The Golden Globes (boring!!) which always gets a huge viewership. I, for one, along with my husband and tons of friends can't wait until tonight to see the next two hours.
