    It's THE LAWYERS STUPID! Why is there absolutely no mention to the biggest reason OUR health care costs so much. Ask your DR. (if he hasn't quit yet) Dr's are being sucked dry by the likes of John Edwards and other scum sucking lawyers that chase ambulances and just look for ways to make a fast buck at the expense of ALL OF US. Any real reform MUST include Dr's having the ability to do their job based on what is right, not fear of a John Edwards type attorney looking over their shoulder.

      Uh, I don't know where your info comes from, but last I heard, total cost of lawsuits were about 2-3% of all healthcare costs.

      As far as doctors and hospitals having people looking over their shoulders, there are some common practices indicating they should.
      Example: Many ER's are staffed by a resident and an intern that work up to 36 hours straight. This is just plain stupid on the part of hospitals. Do you really want to come into an ER and have a student that's been up for 30 hours make a snap diagnosis on you? If because of this situation, you suffer major functional loss or even death, its still ok with you if the state says your or your estates recourse to legal means of obtaining restitution is limited to real damages, no punitive damages allowed?

    in 2005 i had a lamineselctomy and spinal fusion. Prior to that i couldn't walk a block without extreme and debilitating pain. Now i can walk miles. A friend living in Northern Ireland has a similar problem. She has to wait over a year for an MRI. so she paid for it herself. But to get any surgery that's a huge wait. another relative in southern ireland had sever back problems but could not get them treated. He was in this early seventies and died of colon cancer which could have been caught by the routine colon screening. They don't do that there. Those so called advanced societies fail people on the periphery who have very treatable ailments. There only the rich can get the treatments and many come to the us. But then again Samuleson and the other elites would get it anyway.

    When you buy health ins. the first 6 months premium go to pay te person that sold you the policy. His sales manager has to be paid, his manager, office expence etc, etc. etc. Ask any Insurance agent. Most self insured change companies every 2 years. All we need to do is rechannel these moneys to health care instead of Insurance companies. Its a no brainer. And don't get me started on drug companies.
