Wait, aren't you the Daniel Lyons who wrote books and posted in blogs and faked you were Steve Jobs to help your career? Aren't you the Daniel Lyons who said it "knocked the wind out of you" after using Steve Jobs's name and likeness to forward your own carreer to see how sick he was in person in July 2008? i guess you got enough wind back to write this shameless hit piece on Steve will he may be dying. Using him to further your career wasn't enough? Now you need to attempt to put down one of the founders fathers of the computer industry? You're quite a man Daniel. You and newsweek should be really proud of yourself.

Aside from the fact that your article demonstrates you know nothing about the PC industry, which was created by Steve Job's visit to Xerox's PARC and creating the first PC with Woz, forcing Microsoft and IBM's to follow, you probably have a device in your pocket pioneered by Apple (Newton), it's unbelievable you would speak that way you did about somebody who is battling a life-threatening illnes. Your article is the most distasteful thing I have ever read. P.S. Do you think people don't notice the PMSNBC partner link at the top of the page. Sheesh, get a life.

Hey Dan, welcome back, thought Newsweek muzzled you for good! Real life does sucks, ignore those pip-squeak Apple fanboys, hope they weep milk white chocolate duds when Steve does go.

Well Daniel??? Are you going to refute our comments? We're waiting...

Berkshire Hathaway has never said who will succeed Warren Buffet and he is certainly more important to his company than Jobs is to Apple yet you don't chide BH.

By the way while Microsoft was known for Gates, Gates never contributed to any innovation. And reall Ballmer y, do you feel better having at the Helm? Having the position vacant would be an improvement. ("Apple has no chance of being successful with a phone, no chance" - Steve Balmer)

And while Jobs has a high opinion of himself it ain't braggin if you can actually do it. As opposed to being a hack writer for a little read magazine and while lacking imagination to be creative resorts to personal attacks

"Ironically, it is Gates, his archnemesis, who will likely go down in history as the classy one: the one who knew how to exit gracefully, the one who is devoting the later years of his life, and all of his billions, to helping the world's poorest people???and not clinging to his CEO job while he insults reporters and plays petty cat-and-mouse games with Apple shareholders and fanboys."

OK, I'm really starting to think that Lyons is really just trolling, because it's hard to imagine even Monkey Boy himself saying such things. If you are trolling, Lyons, my hat's off to you, but if you're not, then my hat for your next meal.

Well Daniel. What you haven't considered is how badly Gates' successor has done at Microsoft. Almost daily we're seeing articles detailing how Ballmer keeps putting his foot in his mouth and his lack of vision and execution for Microsoft's faltering future. I wonder if Steve is watching this and looking more carefully at who his successor might be?

Talk about lack of class. This is the least classiest article that I have ever read. Say what you will, Steve Jobs has two of the intangibles that can't be faked or bought... class and integrity. Mr. Lyons, perhaps you could learn a thing or two from Mr. Jobs.

Initially, I intended to dissect this lame excuse for journalism, then I came to my senses. No need to waste much time on ineptness, especially noting that this drivel comes from NewswEAk. Bottom line, this article is asinine, idiotic, cretinous and equates to whale poop at the bottom of the ocean. Keep it up Daniel Lyons. Your contributions certainly lend themselves to the scum produced by this magazine (translate: kitty litter box liner.)

Lyons says, "The real issue here, and the one that Apple has failed to address in any meaningful way, is the question of succession. Who is the heir apparent? No one knows. And that's a problem."

Please, in todays world is this the best that he can come up with. Apple is charging forward while everyone else is trying to figure out what to try and copy (and poorly at that). As Lyons is a Microsoft lover from way back (I hear that Microsoft pays up to $15,000 for a great "positive" blog article ??) I guess I can see why he is always anti-Apple and pro-Microsoft. But that really calls into question his ability to write good articles vs just advertising for Microsoft.

Especially lately, all I read from him is this drivel. Newsweek, before you lose all creditability, tell this guy to get his act straight.

    Just a thought.

You are an ASS HAT, again!

    Stop it please.

Is this supposed to pass for journalism? Thoughtful analysis? Reasoned opinion? Daniel Lyons should be ashamed to write such drivel (and to work where an editor would allow it to be published). They say opinions are like *** - everyone has one. Newsweek certainly does.

Apple continues to be nothing short of impressive, with or without Steve. I don't see the point of the article.

    Dear Mr. Lyoons,

Just who do you think you are? A mere columnist, judging issues from the sidelines, creating nothing yourself. To refer to Mr. Jobs as "a petulant narcissist", who has made many people's lives more enjoyable using technology, is just abhorrent. I think you are just a frustrated wannabe, who can only gain attention by criticizing others.

You owe Mr. Jobs an apology.

Then just go away, or mend your ways.
