‘Uncle Bernie’ And the Jews

Were I one of his victims I doubt that him being a Jew would have anything to do with my rage.

Mr. Epstein-It would have been a good idea to have dismounted your high horse and reread your offensive opinions and unsubstantiated generalizations before submitting them for publication. Exactly what reseach supports your off-the-wall statements that American Jews are swimming in trust funds hence the reason they can play all that golf? As a Jew, you surely know that this Madoff affair and the continued mention of his Jewishness is very disturbing and upsetting to our community. If you still consider yourself a member of the "tribe," cut the schtick. A Proud Jew.

How convienient for Mr. Epstein that Mr. Madof{scumbag} came along so he could villify American Jewry. We lve in a free country where we can name our children and play the games we want to play as we wish. The chances are great that Mackenzie, Kelly and Tyler Rosenberg would have gone to gas chamber along with Chana and Rebecca. Being born in Germany in 1935 my parents did not have the luxury of choosing my, it came from an Aryan list. We ure have problems as American Jewry but Mr. Madoff had nothing to do with it.

How fortunate for Mr.Epstein that Uncle Bernie(the scumbag) came along so that he could vent hiss anger against modern Jewry. No doubt there is a lot to complain about but I can assure Mr. Epstein that Kelly, Mackenzie and Tyler would not have been spared by Hitler for their names, nor their parents for the games they played. Don't group all jews with this scum bag. Why do jews all of the sudden need to loose their pretige because of one looser. Do the Jews stop respecting all non-jews when cheaters like Bernie Ebbers and Jeffrey Skilling are arrested.

Being a Jew is not simply a choice of religion. The author and many commentators forgot that. Outside the US, Jew is an ethnic group with a unique religion, similar to Chinese with Confucium or Japanese with Shinto.

I feel that what ever consequnces that he may get for this crime he deserves. No one should get away with stuff like this. All it is doing is destroying our ecocmy and its not fare for the rest of us to suffer,

I feel tht once you have committed a crime like that you should really be punished for it. All a fraud is doing is helping the country to go through more of a economy.

Put Madoff in Ashkelon. Then suddenly the mainstream media will be concerned about the safety of Jews being attacked by terrorists on a daily basis and in favor of obliterating Hamas instead of coddling them.

Madoff seems to almost be proud of his swindle. A real psycopath if you ask me.
What I really don't understand... How the courts could allow him to live in his appartment. He admitted to the crime. The possability of flight is HIGH. And they agree for him to hire his own guards? Sounds like the judge is crooked for sure. Mark my words, he has already moved the majority of his assets where we can't touch them. And if he hasn't he will shortly.

Actually, does it matter if he is a Jew? I didn't know it before, and it doesn't matter now. Fact is Madoff is a criminal. He deserves punishment befitting the crime. Based on the magnitude, I'd say life in prison isn't long enough. He impacted not just the rich. His crime hit the poor too.

I say give him life at hard labor. AND for crying out loud, put him in jail NOW.

I have to say, I find everything about this article, including many of the comments, hilarious. Thanks, my fellow tribesmen. But in the letters, I keep looking for one from Alan Dershowitz. He wrote a little book, called "Chutzpah" about a decade (or more) ago, in which he exhorted Jews to quit acting like guests in their own country. By this, he meant that the sins o f a Madoff, or a Boesky, or a Milken are the sins of the person, not the religion. The rest of us need not cower in a corner, worried about what the Episcopalians will think. Good advice. And Mr. Epstein provides an interesting twist.

I'm not worried. I cashed in my CREF retiremnt a while back and got about a third of my student loan payed off.
