Pakistan is never going to get kashmir. So if the pakistanis take the position that nothing will change till kashmir is resolved to their satisfaction, that should be taken by everyone else to mean that the pakistanis are never going to change and what they do in the region is never going to change. SO everybody should accept that this is a problem thats not going away as long as Pakistan exists.

I think Pressler amendment and its effects on Pakistan are still there. More importantly, after the USSR collapse, the way US ditched Pakistan is something which Pakistanis will remember for a long time. It is true that Pakistan has received billions of USD but on the other hand it is also true that Pakistan is the only country who has received thousands of dead bodies in the War against terror.

The root cause of war against terror in the region is again pointing at Kashmir- the biggest recruitment reason in the region. Unless you resolve Kashmir, you cannot bring peace to the region, more importantly to Afghanistan. This is something which is rightly highlighted by President elect Obama on his well deserved road to oval office. His comments has rightly sent shivers to India who is blatantly abusing Human Rights and ignoring the right of self determination in Kashmir. The brutalities committed by Indian Armed forces in Kashmir is on record, unprecedented and may be comparable to what is happening in Gaza. It doesn???t come as surprise as Indian intelligence and Israel counter parts are working very closely since ages- why would their modous-operandi be any different. It is ironic, that at one hand India has taken the issue of Mumbai attacks to UN, on other hand willfully refusing to recognize the UN mandate which calls for a plebiscite in Kashmir. The credit goes to the powerful Indian media, they have been very successful in hiding the truth from the world.

It is about time, world should recognize the importance of Pakistan in the war against terror. It is working as a buffer zone , protecting US and more importantly India from attacks. Imagine for a while, had there been no Pakistan in between, India would have been devastated by now- just like Pakistan. In other words, world and more importantly India should be thankful to Pakistan rather giving threats of a military action.

I miss in all opinions about Pakistand and her problems any mention of the catastrophic inequality in land ownership. That we seperate us from them for 12 years is euqally catastrophic. I have worked with many Pakistanis in the Middle East and many of them wer so positive towards us from their experience with our military people.
