I ususally do not blog or make comments to anything, but when I read the article, I was so thrilled to know that I wasn't the only one thinking on the same level . WhenI heard about the Electric Company coming back on , I was so excited. I was hoping that it would catch on the this generation of children. My eight year old just loves it. and I quote" Silent i "E"s a Ninja" He goes around singing that amongst other catchy jingles. Today's T.V. has nothing on it that can help educate and broaden our our children of today minds. I grew up watching the show and thought that this would be a great experience for my child. Whoever thought of the idea of bringing back "retro" with a modern day twist, kudos to them. i high five you >>>>^5 <<<

Sorry, PBS, but if you're going to change the basic premise of a show, do us all a favor and have the guts to call it something else. What is proposed here is NOT "The Electric Company." If you're not "going to remake a Beatles' album," then why would you insult us by calling it "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band?!?"

Oh, Tim, you are totally right! I forgot about that show. I grew up with 3-2-1 Contact, Mr. Rogers, Elec Co and Sesame Street and I loved them all. I too wish for the Sesame Street of old, my daughter will NOT sit still to watch the new one, it is too boring to her. I am most upset over Cookie Monster becoming more "healthy". For heavens sake, they have the fruit salad making segment from however many years ago that they can run (obviously effective as I still remember it and I am 34)--but that was the point, BALANCE, some fun stuff, some mopre devoted to education stuff. Cookie Monsters eat cookies. It's fun. Remember that, everybody, when everything did not have to deliver a "message" of some sort? I wonder how much of kids TV today my kid will remember when she is my age and smile.

I suppose you're right, but maybe you're wrong.

I think the Bloodhound Gang appeared on "3-2-1 Contact" (another Children's Television Workshop production), rather than the Electric Company.

Don't hold your breath. The new issue of an old favorite might pale in comparison. The new and improved Sesame street is a dismal showing compared to the original (we sooo miss Jim Hensen). The old show was full of creativity and knew not to take itself too seriously. The new Sesame Street is so busy being politically correct they've lost their sense of humor and their sens of fun--two things kids see right through. Who doesn't miss the Yips, the psychedelic invisible Snuffy, and all those crazy monsters running around? The songs today are nothing to buy an album over, nothing to sing along to, and certainly nothing to remember. We showed our kids clips from YouTube of the original, and even rented some, and they were like "whey can't they make it like that again? This isn't boring at all! This is funny!". In trying to make TV safe and secure for all kids, and trying not to step on anyone's toes, they are stereotypically droning on daily about the same issues, and no one wants to tune into THAT.

I loved that show. That's what's wrong with children programming. They can share with the best of them but can't read or do simple math. Big ups to Sesame Street as well.

Bravo to PBS for bringing an educational show back. Sadly, it's also an indictment of our failed public school system. Something needs to happen to bring this ship around. Maybe between PBS and home schools we can make a dent!
