Insanity like that evidenced by Deborah Ritter is why I feel a sense of fear everytime Pres Obama is out in public. The loonies like Ritter are still out there believing the hate garbage being fed to them daily by the likes of Hannity, Limbaugh , and Coulter. Its very sad but very scary as well. Lets all hope and pray thet President elect Obama stays safe from these nut jobs.

Where are Iraq's WMD you ask?

The answer is not "Iraq's WMD program ceased to exist after the Gulf War",no the answer is "Iraq's WMD has been moved to Syria."

Now it would be easy to write off this thread as another attack on a "radical islamic state", but the facts speak for themselves.

Why did we catch Uday and Qusay? Because they were expelled from Syria back into Iraq

If Syria is willing to transport human cargo out of Iraq what would stop them from taking on the WMD of the former regime.

This is not a crackpot theory but a well documented event.

Nizar Nayuf (Nayyouf-Nayyuf), a Syrian journalist who recently defected from Syria to Western Europe and is known for bravely challenging the Syrian regime, said in a letter Monday, January 5, to Dutch newspaper ???De Telegraaf,??? that he knows the three sites where Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) are kept. The storage places are:

1- Tunnels dug under the town of al-Baida near the city of Hama in northern Syria. These tunnels are an integral part of an underground factory, built by the North Koreans, for producing Syrian Scud missiles. Iraqi chemical weapons and long-range missiles are stored in these tunnels.

-2- The village of Tal Snan, north of the town of Salamija, where there is a big Syrian air force camp. Vital parts of Iraq's WMD are stored there.

-3-. The city of Sjinsjar on the Syrian border with the Lebanon, south of Homs city.

Nayouf writes that the transfer of Iraqi WMD to Syria was organized by the commanders of Saddam Hussein's Special Republican Guard, including General Shalish, with the help of Assif Shoakat , Bashar Assad's cousin. Shoakat is the CEO of Bhaha, an import/export company owned by the Assad family.

In February 2003, a month before America's invasion in Iraq, very few are aware about the efforts to bring the Weapons of Mass Destruction from Iraq to Syria, and the personal involvement of Bashar Assad and his family in the operation.
Nayouf, who has won prizes for journalistic integrity, says he wrote his letter because he has terminal cancer.

Now I am not advocating nation building in Syria

I have made this thread to defend the reasons we have deposed a despot capable of not only killing millions of his own people but who has endangered and destroyed the lives of Iranians, Israelis, Kuwaitis and Saudis. There is no question that Iraq is better without Saddam and that Asnar al Islam has been disrupted without a terror friendly base. The WMD existed before and after our invasion and not an overblown threat.

Whether you find yourself a Republican, Democrat, or Independent you must realize that the war in Iraq has clear purpose and justifaction and it is wrong to condemn it as "Haliburtons Escapade".

  • Posted By: rioguy @ 01/18/2009 10:44:58 PM

Wow the Conservative revisionist history writers are full steam ahead. Either that or it shows how brainwashed the Conservative base really is. One brainwashed person on this board goes so far as to say that the Iraq mission was to take down Sadaam Hussein and liberate the Iraqi people. I distinctly remember the mission being to root out the WMDs that Hussein absolutely had because Bush and Co. knew for a fact that Hussein had a connection to the Al Queida terrorist who hit the WTC. The truth was that there were no WMDs and no connection to Al Quieda. So after murdering hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians in the name of a lie Conservatives want to look back and say; "What a Victory"! What Sadaam Hussein did with his people were his business and certainly not cause for the U.S. to overstep its boundaries and assasinate the man. How would America have felt if during the 40s, 50s, and 60,s other countries looked at the horrendous treatment of Blacks at the hands of Whites and decided to assasinate our president at the time to spread freedom to the millions of people being mistreated. As if the American Government does not torture and murder its citizens. There is a World Court to handle the decision of whether or not to remove a dictator. Its not for the USA to make that decision. If Bush had said he was going to destroy Iraq just to go after Sadaam Hussein he would never have gotten the support of the senate or congress which is why he fabricated the WMD intelligence and then claimed ignorance(his only truth). Yes other countries may have been fooled by the faulty intelligence but only one president vigorously pushed for a full scale invasion. Bush the Murderer.

    Short recap of the story:

    Best Moments
    1. AIDS in Africa- $20 billion, "largest health effort ever mounted by one country to combat a disease."
    2. The Surge- opponents argued security had deteriorated. fact: "violence was reduced in the region".
The Surge was deemed a success
    3. Election in Iraq- "60% of the country voted" in a FREE election and were given a voice
    4. Re-election
    5. Capturing Saddam- "a dark and painful" dictatorship was over.
    6. The Aftermath of 9/11- "I can hear you" and they "will hear us". Despite attempts there have not been
more attacks on the US since.
    Worst Moments
    1. The Economy- the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was a result of the loosening regulations
President Clinton implemented during his presidency, not Bush.
    2. US Attorney Firings- a story that connected Bush to this controversy was manufactured and never
proven to be based on any facts.
    3. Katrina- Should it had been handled better, yes. I'll give you this one
    4. Abu Ghraib- Humiliating Iraqi prisoner pictures. how is this Bush's fault? Don't know, but the media
    sure made it his fault.
    5. Mission Accomplished- the mission was to remove a cruel dictatorship from power and give the
people a democratic government...wait, isn't that exactly what happened.
Sounds like "mission accomplished" to me.
    6. A Flawed Speech on Iraq- To quote what has been misquoted thousands of times; Bush said, "The
British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought
significant quantities of uranium from Africa." British agencies later said this
was based on faulty intelligence. Last I checked Bush didn't work for any
British agencies and he is not in charge of gathering intelligence. He makes
decisions with what is presented to him.

After reading it the only thing I can think to myself is how easily the media has tarnished this man's presidency with no concrete evidence or reason. This is a classic case of the media spinning anything and everything he did in the direction they wanted. Is that the best you got NEWSWEEK? Are those 6 worst moments the best evidence you have to make Bush out to be the worst President ever?

While I don't agree with every decision Bush made I do know I would not have wanted anybody else as President during the past 8 years.
He kept us safe during a dangerous time.

Nice job in recapping the best and worst moments but please add another section titled ???What has changed in the last 8 years??? For starters how about:
      1) National Debt increase of 16 Trillion
      2) Unemployment up 7%
      3) 200,000 shoulders in Iraq and Afghanistan
      4) Housing and financial crisis

You???re not judged on how you find the office but how you leave it. In this case it was a failure.

        • Posted By: John Dough @ 08/11/2009 10:31:44 PM

The national debt was ten trillion when Bush left office - it will be 16 trillion at the endo of Obama's first term and over twenty trillion if he is re-electedUnemployment was at about 5>5% when Bush left office while Obama's transition team was in place since November.
The dems blocked evry attempt by Bush for financial reform including bloocking Bush's efforts to rein in Fannie and Freddie due to suspect loans (see NYT 09-11-03. Mc Cain sounded a srrong alrm in 05 and again was shot down by the dems.
On the wars Bush got usi nto Iraq with suspect intel that dated back years. But he did displace an evil dictator who tortured and murdered 500,000 of his citizens, gassed 5000 Kurds to death, used chemical weapons against us and Iran, supported terrorism globally and was an SOB of the worst kind. In Afghanistan he took the war to the terroristsand we did not have any other terror attacks after 9/11 on his watch. In fact he stopped 18 and his AIDS policy in Africa gave life to 1 million infected with AIDS by giving them lifesaving care. Yeah he was a devil!!! I wish he were back based on what I've seen of this new group of mopes. TERM LIMITS PLEASE.

George W. Bush and the Neo-Cons. The phrase itself tells the real truth. Neo means new. There was NOTHING new about this administration. Most of this cast of characters go back to either the Nixon days or the Regan era. George W. Bush is the ONLY person in the whole world who can make Richard Nixon look like an honest man. I hope I don't have to explain that statment !! As for Ronlad Regan, this is the guy who " couldn't remember trading arms for hostages " . Cheney and Rumsfeld felt so bad about how these two "retards" were treated in office that they both vowed to never let a Republican President be treated like that again. Thus, they came up with the concept of the " Presidential Signing". You know, where after the President signs a bill into law, he then creates a " Presidential Signing" which means the President does not have to abide by the " Law " that he just signed into law. I could be mistaken, but I think George W. Bush's count for presidential signings is 135. Some people may remember back to World War 2. The United States almost single handedly ( you can argue about the amount of help we really had from other countries) defeated Japan, Germany and Italy in less time and with less money than it has taken to deal with those responcable for 9/11. Of course, this is partly because for the first five years we were so focused on Iraq, and Saddam Hussein and not Afghanistan and Osama Bin Laddin. Both of whom were " Friends " of the United States and of George W. Bush's father. And both were on the payrole of the CIA at one point in time.
Now for the "Con" portion of "Neo-Con". Anybody in the law enforcment field can tell you what "Con" means. It means confidence. But not in the normal way. It means to lie. That is where the Bush Administration really shines. There has never been an administration that could tell more or bigger lies than that of George W. Bush. And none could do it with such a straight face. They say you can easily tell if George W. Bush, or someone in his administration is telling a lie. All you have to do is check to see if their mouth is moving. However, I do not blame George W. Bush for all of this. I blame the "Religious Right". They felt so offended that Bill Clinton actually got a blow-job from someone other than his wife while in office, that they had to screw the entire country. And the penius they used was George W. Bush. Fotunately for Mr. Bush, he will never have to worry about the legal ramifications of his actions. As we all know, anybody with such severely deminished mental capacity as that suffored by Mr. Bush would be free from prosecution under our legal system. Of course this is only my opinion.

    • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 01/18/2009 7:34:36 PM

You are a complete twit, because your basic premise is flawed. Con stands for conservative, Einstein. And I bet you were so proud of this drivel, too!

      • Posted By: pupuserver @ 01/18/2009 10:02:30 PM

Remember the opposite of pro is con therefore the opposite of progress is congress: the same people that write the laws the president signs and don't forget alot of the laws Bush signed are crap congress promised for years but never delivered until Bush signed on when they thought he would veto them

    Make that genius (,genius).

  • Posted By: JerryG1 @ 01/18/2009 3:40:57 PM

    Curious:

When General Eric Shinseki said, during the lead-up to the Iraq invasion, that many more ground troops (a couple hundred thousand more) were required, he was dissed by The Neocons, eventually dismissed by Rumsfeld.

How is it that after the invasion and AFTER the ensuing disastrous chaos and insurgencies and deaths, that the Surge of 20,000 more troops was claimed by Bush, McCain and the neocons as genious - one of their BEST?

  • Posted By: cschene @ 01/18/2009 11:11:29 AM

Bush and the Neocons have made such a mess of the country, Obama has no where to go but up.

Bush???s speech showed once again his dishonesty and denial of responsibility for the disaster he, the GOP and the neocons left us.

Acted in the best interests of the country? Ha! What a load of crap. He surrounded himself with dishonest business men, unscrupulous investors, ignored the wishes and interests of the American people to give the vast majority of the economic benefits and goodies to his rich buddies. He allowed and even encouraged the banks to fleece the ignorant and poor through deceptive credit and banking practices, he appoints do nothing regulators who are essentially partners with business rather than representatives of the public. He passed tax laws that discriminate against wage earners in favor of capital holders. His liberation of IRAQ resulted in LESS religious freedom for the people than they had before and he made Iran, our greatest threat, a regional super power and mischief maker by removing Sadaam.

Good riddance to this unmitigated and self deceptive disaster of a president.

President-elect Obama is letting his outline for economic recovery dribble out into the media ever so slowly. But from what we've seen, the plan seems less like stimulus and more like redistribution. If Obama is serious about getting the economy going again, he could do a number of things ??? and right away, not years from now, as with the $675 billion to $775 billion he plans to spend on infrastructure and imaginary "green jobs." These steps would include: 1. Cutting corporate tax rates. 2. Slashing capital gains tax rates. 3. Not raising taxes on the rich. This would be hard to do, given Obama's rhetoric on the stump. But those with incomes over $250,000 a year are the most likely to save and invest. And already they pay nearly 48% of all taxes, while 44 million middle- and lower-income households pay no taxes at all. If Obama wants to help business create millions of jobs, putting a target on the backs of entrepreneurs won't help.

??? But those with incomes over $250,000 a year are the most likely to save and invest. And already they pay nearly 48% of all taxes, while 44 million middle- and lower-income households pay no taxes at all???

Another intellectual midget who spins the tax issues by focusing ONLY on federal income tax and ignores FICA tax and other federal taxes Americans pay. I and my wife pay almost exactly the same percentage of our taxable income as GW, the difference being that most of what GW pays is federal income tax and our payment is 50% FICA and 50% income tax. Overall, our federal income based taxes are virtually identical. This pattern is true for DINC middle class families I n our income rangte.

      You???re an idiot!

Simplicimuss; of course you don't understand the adoration going out to President Elect Obama because the country has not felt this kind of joy and hope towards an incoming president not only from Americans of every walk of life but also from the entire world in a long, long time. This is the joy you see when one of the worst presidents in history exits out the back door. I remember Bush's last inauguration. He could not even walk down Pennsylvania avenue because people were pelting his car with eggs. Get used to this. Its called admiration and respect. Something Bush never received whether in the United States or abroad and sadly something he didn't deserve.

President Bush didn't deregulate banks, that happened under a fellow who's wife is now Secretary of State, God help us.
There is now a Middle Eastern state that is a free Deomcracy, no longer a threat to peace in the region and will prove to be a strong allly of the US over time.
The President inherited a flawed FEMA and fixed it. Hence the lack of fallout after last summers floods.
Aids prevention in Africa has enabled millions of African's to live better lives. What'd the previous administration do besides ignore the problem?
American education is improved because of the leadership provided by a president who cares about the welfare of American children's future, What'd the previous administration do besides ignore the problem?
A 30% approval rating is stellar when you consider how stupid most Americans are. Always ready to blame someone else for their difficulties and ignore the fact that this President inherited a Federal Buracracy that had done nothiing but wallow in popular opinion polls for the previous 8 years.
Stupid legislation under Bill Clinton's Democrats caused the banking industry to collapse. May God help us.

In the real post-9/11 world, however, our new president may very well find himself confronted with the same choice that faced the U.S. government after the Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. It can be summed up as follows: Will Obama get as tough as possible with terrorist detainees who have information that will foil plots and save thousands, even millions, of lives ??? even to the extent of taking them to foreign locations and doing unsavory things to them? Or will he act always as if an ACLU lawyer is looking over his shoulder and thus risk the tragedy of another terrorist attack against the US homeland? President-elect Obama appears to be sincerely dedicated to protecting America. But is he appointing an attorney general who will pull an Elliot Richardson on him when the president is told that getting a little medieval on a high-ranking terrorist prisoner will save countless lives? Liberals may be overjoyed to hear Attorney General nominee Eric Holder unequivocally declare waterboarding to be torture. But will he refuse to let his president prevent terrorism?

The man is an extreme sociopathic personality, a manipulator personified, a con-artist without any conscience. For eight years George W. Bush has stood before the American people, the world, and simply lied without hesitation or reservation to justify and rationalize most every position he has ever taken and then thumbed his nose at everyone as if to say it was his right and something everyone should just put up with. Now he has the complete nerve to play-act humble and to recruit his co-conspirators to talk him up as a genuine quality person of conscientious and concerned character. Not only is all of that ridiculous but it is also a lot of arrogant boldness that is totally offensive. George W. Bush (& DCheney) has spent the last eight years arrogantly and belligerently pursuing a private agenda for the sole benefit of Special Interests and a select few who have both overtly and covertly supported him, contributed to his campaigns and given him promises for after office compensation (???kickbacks???) all while he has given the average American only apathy, the costs and an abundance of subterfuge. To now allow history to be colored in order to say otherwise would be a real twisting of the truth and an insult to all who suffer as a result of his dishonest, irresponsible and self-serving behavior. He literally is the worst president this country has ever seen and now he is trying to coerce history, even as we are surrounded with all of the proof to the contrary. He manipulated public opinion in 2000, again in 2004, often in-route and now he is trying once more in 2009. The man is simply disgusting!

In the 11 weeks of the transition, President-elect Obama has demonstrated that he is a sensible man. He has indicated that much of the liberal campaign rhetoric he employed in his underdog contest against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination was more an appeal for liberal votes than a peek at what he had up his sleeve. Starting Tuesday, Obama will be getting that same daily national security briefing that led his predecessor to take the most extraordinary steps in protecting the US homeland from further attack. A frequent Obama catchphrase has been that Iraq is a "dumb war." But one of the keys to the success of Bush's surge and the Anbar Awakening was that the Iraq people and many of their tribal leaders saw proof that the U.S. was acting in their interests. The smart long-term approach to taming the Middle East is making liberty and prosperity a rival to Islamist extremism. Complete success in Iraq during the Obama administration is an imperative. As Obama pores over the same intelligence that Bush saw, he will hopefully come to a realization: America has a far greater chance of standing if this new Democratic president embraces an alternative to the foreign policy ideology of his party's left wing. George W. Bush's administration achieved what few believed possible after 9/11, which is a perfect record of keeping America safe. Will President Obama keep the streak going?
