Dear President Obama,
When my family found out you were elected president, we were jumping like kangaroos. I would like for you to bring the people from war back home to their family. I would like for you to give poor people a place to live where they can stay until they can be responsible enough to get a job and take care of themselves. I hope your family enjoys being in the history of the White House. Congratulations on being the president of the United States. I also thank you for running to become our president. I appreciate that.

Love,

This is a proud moment in time for everyone in the world. We are so happy that you are president of the United States.

Our class is proud to be a part of this generation to see how Dr. Martin Luther King's dream has come true through you. We believe in you.

Sincerely,

    Dear Mr President,

Please expand welfare, medicaid, and every other program you can think of so we don't have to work so hard when we grow up. Oh and thanks for shutting down that awful prison down south. We are so much safer letting the terrorists go back to their home countries to get back to business as usual.

Thank you so much for these kind words to Barack Obama. He is himself a great man of letters. By sending him these letters, we do him tribute. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream and as one student writes, it has come true. Whether this statement is true or not, it is a touching sentiment and it is right that we compare these two great men, while acknowledging that the latter still has yet to prove himself in office. But he has certainly done a good deal in the right direction.
