I ALSO AGREE THAT WEE= NEED TO SEND EVERYSIINGLE ILLEGAL ALIEN BACK TO THE CONTRY THEY CAME FROM AND PROSECUTE THE EMPLOYERS WHO HIRE THEM TO THE FULLEST, SO THEY WONT HIRE THEM ANYMORE. THEY WHETHER THE LATINS HERE LEGALLY WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT, ARE THE SINGLE BIGGEST DRAIN ON OUR ECONOMY AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH. THESE PEOPLE TRY AND SAY THE ILLEGALS DO ALL THE JOBS REAL AMERICANS DONT WANT TO DO BUT THATS NOT TRUE , WHAT IS, IS THAT THE EMPLOYERS WHO HIRE THE ILLEGALS PAY THEM LESS THEN MINIMUM WAGE AND KEEP THE PROFITS IF THE STRAWBERRY FARMERS HERE IN FLORIDA WERE PAYING 8 OR 1O BUCKS AN HOUR LIKE THEY SHOULD BE THEYD HAVE AMERICANS LINING UP TO PICK EVERY SEASON, BUT THE FACT IS THEY DONT, THEY PAY SOME ILLEGAL 4 DOLLARS A DAY AND THEY SEND 3 OF IT BACK TO ECUADOR OR MEXICO. NOT TO MENTION I CANT FIND A CONSTRUCTION JOB ANYWHERE BUT THERE WERE FOUR OR FIVE CREWS OF ILLEALS BUILDING THE HOUSES ACROSS THE STREET FROM MINE, DO YOU THINK THERE ARENT ANY AMERICANS THAT WANT TO HANG DRYWALL OR SOFFIT AND FASCIA, YOUR ALL FULL OF IT? ILLEGAL ALIENS PROVIDE NO BENEFIT TO OUR SOCIETY Y IMPORTING THE DRUG SMUGGLING AND GANGS THAT ARE SO PREVELANT IN THEIR HOME LANDS, NOT TO MENTION THE TRANSIENT AND CRIMINAL NATURE OF THIER CULTURE. THEY ALL USE FAKE NAMES, BIRTHDATES AND PAPERS STEAL SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS ETC. THEY ALL DO THESE THINGS WITH THE FULL KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY ARE ILLEGAL AND IN MOST CASES FELONIES. AMNESTY IS NOT AN OPTION

THE NEW DEAL DIDNT BRING US OUT OF THE DEPRESSION IT ONLY MADE IT WORSE, DURING AND AFTER WORLD WAR 2 WE WERE THE ONLY COUNTRY THAT HADNT HAD ITS FACTORIES BOMBED SO WE WERE THE ONES MAKING EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE WAR WHEN WE LITERALLY MADE EVERYTHING. THAT IS WHAT BROUGHT THE ECONOMY BACK UP, THE WAR SPENDING MENTIONED BY THE BLEEDING HEART. I THINK THE FACT NEWSWEEK WANTS SO BADLY TO ASSOCIATE OBAMA WITH FDR AND THE NEW DEAL LIKE HE WAS THERE, ALL HAIL THE MESSIAH THE GREAT OBAMA

what is the deal only to reinforce federal buildings, and getbetter they selfs?......

Yes the "New Deal" put people to work and prevented starvation. The depression lasted from 1928 until 1942. the "New Deal" did nothing to restart the United State economy. The cure for the depression was WWII. the United States was just starting the industrial age when the depression hit. Most of the labor done was by hand, not highly technical machines. Today the average amenrican worker is physically unable to work like they did back then. Obama current plan based upon the "new deal" might save jobs but it will not create new jobs because one skilled worker with modern construction equiptment can do what it took 500 people to do during the 1920's.

So, you'd be happy for the nation to build weaponry en-masse to jump start the economy, but building infrastructure and new technology is a big no no?

      Are conservatives really just destructionists?
Only support war spending, and screw the nation?

The new deal was a complete failure and is about to bankrupt our great nation. What we need is for the federal government to adopt gold and silver as money. To eliminate the federal reserve's money monopoly.

The idea that WWII cured the Great Depression doesn't hold up well against the facts. Check out the graph of annual changes in real GDP since 1930 at http://seekingalpha.com/article/118349-real-gdp-since-1930. In 1932 (Hoover's last year) real GDP growth was -12%. In 1933, the start of the New Deal, the contraction shrank to around -1% followed by 1934 11%, 1935 9%, 1936 13% 1937 5%, 1938 -4%, 1939 8%, 1940 9% and 1941 17%. I don't think that you can attribute much of the 17% 1941 real GDP growth rate to a war that started on 12/07/1941.

You could argue that the 1939-1941 figures were the result of the pre-war production shifts brought about by increased foreign and domestic purchases of armaments, but then you still have to explain 1933 - 1939.

Many buildings still stand today built through public works projects. Quite a few cornerstones in high schools, elementaries and libraries serve as proud tributes to the New Deal. The times are much different now. Most of the manual labor pool is served by the more transient labor from other countries. In many ways, they tend to 'guard' their turf to be able to make real money for their families back home. They do not want Americans to take their jobs away from them here in the states. More building projects will attract even more undocumented workers who will come here to attempt to find work. If the jobs are contracted (which they will be)...the workforce will be managed by a contractor with the means to furnish paperwork anyway. No one will really know the nationality of workers actually being paid to fill those jobs. It may not be right but it happens. In other words, keep your day job! Those who come here for work/a better life want to keep *their* day job in this country too.

I'd like to take this time in history to build a real national railway. The federal government could build and maintaine the rails and the signaling while private rail companies could operate passenger trains over the rails. Rail traffic is often more reliable in storms and during certain tragic events plus they are far more enviromentally friendly than airplanes. High speed passenger rail service should be a part of our transportation infastructure. Passenger rail will not replace the need for highways or airports but deserves to be a part of the equation.

Never mind this for a moment. Its been days since KY was crippled by the ice storm, and unlike Hurricanes, another shot of aortic air is on the way. WHERE IS THE MEDIA COVERAGE ON THE INADEQUACY OF THE RESPONSE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO HELP THESE FOLKS IN THE COLD???? WHERE IS THE COVERAGE ABOUT WHY POWER HAS NOT BEEN RESTORED????? When it was Bagdad or New Orleans, the media were losing their minds. Where are they now???

If it weren't for the illegals who would do all that work? If they weren't needed they wouldn't be here to begin with.

The New Deal, just like the Old Deal, is doomed to failure. Your god Obama can't solve his way out of paperbag. He may look good for awhile but in the end he will stink. And he will bring down the world with him. He is a wimp. Iran can see that and will do whatever they please. Fortunately God loves Israel and will not let Israel be harmed. These are great and interesting times to be alive --- since the end of the world as we know it is around the corner.

Oh Canada! You're absolutely right. Unfortunately, most Americans are too dumb to do anything about it. They continue to elect candidates from both major parties that won't do anything about it. But unfortunately, you really shoud care about the USA as our economy has an effect on the entire world.

I live in Canada so i don't really care too much about the U.S.A, especially considering that Canada's economy is still in excellent shape compared to everyone else, but since you guys are looking so desperatley for jobs how about you start but deporting your 10 Million illegal immigrants??? I bet 10 Million non-taxpayers can sure suck up a lot of jobs that legal tax paying citizens could desperatley use. Just my suggestion feel free to ignore it and let the illegals send billions back to Mexico while you guys sit their wondering were all the jobs are going.
