A Fence Can’t Stop the Future

It all comes down to one thing and one thing only...who has the babies. Whoever has the babies will be the majority of America and the majority of young America. Whites have been refusing to have kids for years now. We need people in the country to work and contribute to the success of the country; latino's and other immigrants will provide the future workforce.

oh & atleast understanding & speaking basic English should be a prerequisit for being in America and receiving any services no matter what country you are from. This is an ENGLISH speaking nation do not expect us to conform to yours. I can stand it !

I think this whole "learn english or fail" is pretty bizarre and, quite frankly, overused. "Hey Mexican, learn English and forget Spanish. BTW, to graduate high school and college you have to take some courses in a foreign language." Contradicting? As a first generation American son here with Mexican parents I can tell you that if you think all Cubans learn English quickly and succeed, try going down to NYC or Havana Pequena in FL. If you think you need to master English to live in America, try going down to various parts of the south and forget the colloquial dictionary, just ask them to write things down or say it slowly. I'm from the LA area so I know about illegal immigrants' integration into American society. Also, I served honorably in the armed forces after 9/11 and deployed to Iraq. Many of my fellow brothers in arms have similar stories. Take that for integration. You can't teach the pope to pray here. Furthermore, the very dynamic about American culture is the fact its so diverse with a land so great. Go to the South and you'll feel a world away from NYC or LA. So what exactly is American culture? It's what you make it. Stop being ass clowns.

The immigration laws must be changed. The future of our economy rest on the shoulders of our latino freinds. If we added just the Mexicans to our economy today, imagine what a boost to our tax base.

Who cares about such a silly filler article? We, everyone, are the keys to the success of this Nation. *Not* one grooup, not one race, not one ethinic group and not one religion. I get so tired of those know-it-alls who talk about coming together and then out of the other side of their bottoms, they always talk about this group or that group being "key". More white Americans voted for Obama than Hispanics and black people comnined. Move on.... next relevant topic... PLEASE.

As an African American who believes in the American dream I think anyone who believes "illegal" Latinos should be backed and sent home have missed the point of this country. There is only a very small number of people who can claim to be Native Americans. Most of us have ancestors who came here or were brought here. We are Americans, a collection of every race, religion, creed and culture from every corner of the Earth. That is the point. No one should be shut out or rejected.

I believe this social genecide of hispanic Inmigrants got to stop. This neonazy prejudize movement has injected so much venon to the point that has intoxicated the life of many good americans, do not be desive. this demon in this country has to die.
Just like you treated the Jewish people, history is repeting here in the USA. Asult thier dignity, starve them, devide their families and dehumanize them. The world comunity is washing you. You preach democrasy and justice for all. The haters of this country are doing what they can to devide the masses with bline agendas that only hurt our image across the world. their greed and prejudism is getting in tolerable to the point of provocation.
Guess what middle class the secret societies running this country will love to see devisions in our home land.
They careless if you turn purple on your fase blaming hispanics, blacks or whites for domestic issues.

The America our fathers fought and died for is on a fast road to ruin. We are being invaded as sure as Pearl Harbor was bombed. The mexicans will rule in ten years. why do some folks use the past, right or wrong, as a tool to make folks alive today to feel guilty. we that are here now have the right to disagree with what is going on in the land we live in. you say it was your land in the past however you were not alive then nore was i. i am not saying that every one from mexico is a burden. but the huge influx of the south Americas into the mid americas at this rate will cause problems and has for we are getting your bad ones as well and we have enough of that ourselves. Mexico has been taking over the United States for a while now without declaring war or firing a shot unless you count the thousands that marched all over the country in may to show Americans that they were here and we couldnt do a thing about it.......and we didnt. we were to busy watching with our jaw dropped. so.......now what???

Sutibu: You and a lot of folks seem to think that all Latinos are immigrants. Look at your history. The Spaniards, the forefathers of the present Latinos were in the US, from Florida to Califorania long before the English landed on the eastern seashore. The mixture of Spanish and Indian blood spawned the Latinos who were the first to settle the southwest long before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. The white folks didn't come to Texas until Moses Austin got permission from the Mexican government to bring in white settlers. Those were the first immigrants to Texas!

WOW!! I am surprised at how many ignorant people actually read Newsweek! I am the daughter of Mexican immigrants...between my sisters and I we hold 8 college degrees. We have good jobs and pay taxes....all while being Latinas!! Not all Latinos are illegal; there is such a thing as legal immigration. For those Latinos that are illegal, they do pay taxes. Latinos, both legal and illegal pay sales tax, gas tax, etc. For those using illegal Social Security numbers, they are paying into the social security system and will never receive those benefits. Healthcare and education should be accessible for ALL!!

It is nothing short of pathetic that we are allowing Latin America to hijack the U.S., especially since the first thing the vast majority has done was to commit a felony entering the country. But as long as the wealthy contine to profit from this practice, and this includes both sides of the political divide, it will continue at the expense of the U.S. future. America will soon be just another third world country, laggin behind China and the rest of the world!
