Imagine landing that job though. Anyone who might be interested in chef jobs out there should defiantly give http://www.chefcrossing.com a try. It is a good source of jobs because it only shows you jobs from employer websites and every other job board out there. The site also has quite a few more jobs than any other website I've tried. All in all this is a good way to track down jobs because these jobs are often not advertised. Jobs include private chef jobs , chef jobs abroad , cook jobs , and sous chef jobs .

I have been a certified chef for 42 years. My first cirtification was May, 1967 and my most recent certification was September 2007.
I am both amazed and appalled that the picture accompanying Holly Bailey's article shows not only Chef Cristeta Comerford but also an assistant handling food without the use of food-handling protective gloves!
I also note that with the exception of Chef Comerford, the other persons present in the food preparation area are not wearing a hair restraint.
These are two (2) major breaches in proper food-handling.
Is there no sanitation check for the handling of food which is to be served to our Chief Executive?
I prepare and serve food to only "John Q. Public"; however, I follow, and insist that my staff follow, the rules and guidelines that govern our trade.
I would thing that "Newsweek" might try to be a little more informed before publishing a picture.

Yes we can all benefit from a healthy diet, but pushing organic foods over the perfectly healthy stuff we can buy for half the price is downright dumb. Should President Obama announce that federal standards for toxins are inadequate, and that trace amounts of natural toxins are harmless while trace amounts of man-made ones can kill you? And perhaps the president should let the world know that food irradiation is totally harmless and would probably prevent some of the potentially food-borne bacteria like Ecoli from hurting you. Let's get some real science on the table and get rid of some urban myths.

Who cares we already know how much money they make.

I realize this may not seem important in the face of economic and security issues. However, there is certainly a health crisis going on as well in this country - isn't heart disease one of the biggest preventable killers of people in this country? The fact that the vast majority of folks commenting think that this is not an important issue is probably part of the problem. Food is a comfort item and people generally continue to eat what they've always eaten - it is VERY difficult to make changes in your eating habits, despite what several people said about people having freedom to choose their food and knowing what is good and bad for them. They may know, but it is a whole other story to actually make those changes. Although the methods of the person in this article were rude and ignorant; I certainly do think that any support or role models for healthy eating that affects people's food choices is a positive change for this country. If you deal only with the major crises, the rest of the issues will be in crisis by the time you get around to them. I don't think the president should be required to reveal what he is eating; however, if he chooses to do so, and it has a positive impact on people's health - thank goodness!

Obama took on a big job. He works. He gets paid. We don't own him body and soul. He, like all other Americans has the freedom to worship as he chooses and the freedom to eat as he chooses. Some people want him to be a new kind of slave. No thanks. The Obamas eat healthfully and encourage their children to do the same, but they aren't so rigid that they never allow themselves a scoop of ice cream. They eat healthy at home but when they go to a fair, they eat stuff on a stick. They're Americans. They may be more faithful about their usual diet and exercise programs than most of us, but they aren't over the top. If they told what they ate at every meal then there would be continual pressure and controversy. Bush mentioned that he didn't care for broccoli and it was nearly the end of the world according to broccoli growers. Beef producers would call 911 if they ate tofu and vegetarians would yell cruelty if they ate pork and PETA would picket the White House on the days they ate chicken. Strawberry growers would have something to say as would dairy producers and vegans. Leave the Obamas alone to enjoy their dinner with their own family and set all the examples you want with your own family. Good luck. Setting examples tends to curdle everybody's stomach and make your kids hate you.

At least the messiah Obama won't need a special adviser on wines, he'll supposedly just make it himself out of water. All of you morons who foolishly bought into the propaganda and decided to worship this false idol will make all of us pay for your ignorance. It's been a good run for the United States, but I guess all good things must come to an end.

• Posted By: thinkTwice @ 01/19/2009 12:25:37 PM

Good run for the US? Go crawl back into the stone you were under for the last 8 years.

Just accept the fact that you are retards like your dubya. Elected him twice too and still are yet to get whats happening. Validation of one Idiot in Chief by idiots like you really helps Dubya's cause

ooooh ... high class momma. You must be one of the retarded 30% of the country

you people who bash Bush will one day be thanking him for keeoing us safe from the evil doers. Also get over it. when Obama does some of the things he claim he will do be ready for the worst years fo your life unless you feel others should support you and yours. I work for what i have and don't take anything for free.

• Posted By: thinkTwice @ 01/19/2009 12:19:34 PM

Did you forget that Clinton kept us safe for 8 years.
If you have a beef with that fact then consider this ... you are safe from the terrorists cos they are regrouping and will strike when they find it most suitable. Its not because of anything any pres does. For people who arent afraid to kill themselves for the 72 virgins nothing anyone does will stop them. So stop singing the fake tune "at least he kept us safe". Wnat dubya did was to create generations and generations of enemies when it could have not been the case.

Nice post, clueless. What most people (because they are either too ignorant or too blind and stupid) fail to realize is that many problems we face today are not within the President's power to control. He cannot declare war, Congress has to do that. He cannot set the pace for the economy either. Has President George W. Bush made some mistakes, yes, but name one person in that office who hasn't. I am saddened to see him go.

• Posted By: scieszka @ 01/18/2009 9:59:55 AM

Thank you englishteacher. One of the first posts I've read that actually explained to the public where the true blame lies. CONGRESS.. the power is in the hand of Congress. That is how our government was structured so that no one individual could have all supreme power and decision making. BTW.. Obama in one of the debates made a large mistake in this area... he stated as President he would go line by line on the budget and make cuts. That's a great idea only the President can't do it.. no line item veto power.

Could OHTeacher please inform us on how he/she knows what Michelle Obama ate on the campaign trail. If he/she is learnt this crucial fact from an email that was circulating during the campaign. Please, Please check out snopes. This was a false email. If people would start investigating half the emails they would receive the would know they are bogus.

• Posted By: OHTeacher @ 01/18/2009 2:39:21 PM

The report about Michelle Obama's lavish meals was buried in the back pages of the New York Times. They received the information from a staff member at a hotel in New York. The Times looked into it at other stops along the campaign trail and confirmed it. However, it stopped there. The media was too busy looking at Sarah Palin's personal appearance expenses. I did try to find the resource on the NY Times website, but couldn't find it. Hmm

• Posted By: thinkTwice @ 01/19/2009 12:09:01 PM

They can afford to eat lavish meals. Theirs is a 2 income family with both of them having havard law degrees unlike the retarded alaskan couple.

It's too bad that Bush wasn't invited on fluff shows like Ellen, Oprah and The View to talk about his diet...

• Posted By: thinkTwice @ 01/19/2009 12:06:48 PM

They dont invite morons

You dumb asses need to get over this stupid love affair for Obama, he isn't in office yet has done absolutley nothing significant yet all the liberals have this biased BS love affair of president elect BO. For christ sake if the media and green people would have cut Bush as much slack as Obama he would have been hailed a hero. His diet is nothing important to us what is important is what he does.

• Posted By: thinkTwice @ 01/19/2009 12:05:43 PM

Bush had a 6 year slack. And all dubya did was squander it away like every thing else. He's good for nothing and so are you for still not getting it.

The Executive Chef didnt even finish her college FROM PHILIPPINES. So the fashionable NEW YORK TRIO thought that all she can do are hamburgers and hotdogs. All those ego bouncing around because they thought she is from a third world country educated by third world university. Those "third world" people are in you hospitals, your accounting firms, your aerospace companies and they seldom talk about themselves. If everyone would be like them, this would be a more peaceful place. Enough of the noise.

EAT THAT!!! :)

What are these Star chefs think that chef who cooks for Head of States, Diplomats, affluent clientele do not know about the different cooking trends or ethnics cuisine!... I am disturb that these so call Star Chefs who have books and other media attentions think that chef like Comerford was not aware about Organic food that they had to propose a kitchen cabinet for Elected President Obama. That is absurd and insulting Chef Comerford intelligence to go behind her back and think that the White House Chef is that unaware of Organic Foods. She definitely on top of her game. Has a past French diplomatic chef for 10 years for the US ambassador in Bern Switzerland and knowing a great deal about cooking for diplomat families, affluent clientele you have to always in alert of what is going on in the food trends. In addition, preparing meal for a private family is much more complex them cooking in a restaurant. Thank news week for bring up this issue.

I bet you when these so-called food gurus make the rounds of TV shows, they would brag about how they have convinced the Obamas to eat healthy & organic when in fact, the Obamas might not even have heard of them. & since they are keeping the Bushes' chef, this week they should ask her to cook some pancit, lumpia or adobo & shake up some leche flan for dessert. YUMYUMYUM!!!!!!!

With all the problems we have is this what folks concern themselves with? Next thing they will want to know is if the Obama family eats whole grains cereal for breakfast. Who cares about such trivia!

IF you ever notice the "food scolds", they have a tofu burger in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Talk about hippocracy. When they finish with the tofu burger, they pick up a glass of alcohol and light up another cigarette.. It's not healthy eating that offends me. It's the arrogance of the hippocrits that gaul me and everyone else. When they get cancer, it's not blamed on their smoking or alcohol. It's blamed on plastic bottles or the environment. The same environment that the rest of the free world lives in and doesn't get cancer. They never take responsibility for their own bad habits, but have no problem scolding the world in regard to their food religion. Get a life. My grandmother would call them "know-it-all briggidy-britches". The kind of people everyone runs from and can't stand to be around.

Likewise, Obama, the closet cigarette/pot smoker. And they're worried about organic food???? My point exactly.
