It's an occupation in which Israel is systematically destroying the land and the people it occupy's. Then uses propaganda to make the meek and helpless look like the aggressors. Anyone who says otherwise is as guilty as the ones killing the people of Gaza. Using dead children as bait for their parents trying to recover bodies being eating by dogs, how much more savage can the IDF get. Shooting small children and women holding white flags please count the bodies and then see who is to blame.

Eighty percent of the Gaza Strip???s 1.5 million residents are refugees or their descendents, driven from their Palestinian homes by the creation of Israel in 1948, or during the 1967 Arab-Israeli Six-Day War.

After Israeli settlements vacated Gaza, Palestine in 2005, Israel essentially sealed the borders. Crops raised for international markets rotted in place and Israel maintained total control over the land, sea and air. Periodically, Israel prevents all food, fuel, and medicine from entering, and Israeli F-16s and ships fire on the population at will. Hundreds have died from these measures. According to international law, Israel still occupies Gaza and therefore maintains sovereignty. Many compare Gaza???s open air prison to the Warsaw Ghetto which preceded the attempted extermination of the Jewish people, a.k.a. the Holocaust.

Hamas offers resistance to Israeli aggression, strangulation and expansion by firing unguided, homemade rockets into Southern Israel which rarely kill or injure, but terrify. (Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto also violently resisted.) In the months leading up to the present assault, (which killed 1300 Palestinians and wounded thousands more) the United Nations was frequently prohibited from delivering food, fuel and medicines to Gaza. As the occupier, Israel is legally bound to care for and safeguard the population. Instead, under Israeli Occupation, hunger, starvation, disease and lethal assault by land, sea and air are the norm. Gaza residents believe resistance is their only hope. But, the only real hope for both Israel and Palestine is to end the violence by ending the Occupation.

That is the biggest point there. Stop the occupation and peace will prevail.

The status quo has failed. American policy toward Israel and Palestine has done nothing except prolong the suffering of the Palestinian people and enable Israel to keep an iron grip on the West Bank while at the same time sealing off Gaza and it's 1.5 million residents.
We desperately need a new American approach that is unbiased and gives equal considerations to both sides. Only then will Israel find the courage needed to make the hard decisions that will, ultimately, need to be made.

There will never be peace between Arabs and Jews until the fools on both sides stop, listen, and obey the words of Jesus Christ, mankind???s only savior, who said in Matthew
5: 43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.???

THE WHOLE SITUATION IN GAZA WAS CAUSED BY HAMAS! THE BLOOD OF THE CIVILIAN DEATHS IN GAZA HAS STAINED THE HANDS OF THE SCUM DOGS OF HAMAS, NOT ISRAEL! SO HAMAS WANTED TO GAIN WORLD ATTENTION TO THE BORDER CLOSINGS BY LAUNCHING ROCKETS AT ISRAEL, HOW STUPID CAN THOSE BUTTHOLES BE! HAMAS WILL NEVER GIVE UP CONTROL OF GAZA NOW THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN CONTROL. THE PEOPLE OF GAZA ARE JUST PAWNS USED BY HAMAS FOR THEIR DIRTY GAME OF DEATH WITH ISRAEL. SO THE DIRTY HAMAS COWARDS GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED.... A BIG OLD FASHIONED "BUTT CUTTIN" BY ISRAEL.

It's amazing that this is one of the first articles to truly show the perfidity, and callous disregard for all innocent life that Hamas shows. However, the author seems to still want to somehow equate what Israel and Hamas are doing. She (intentionally?) leaves out that independent Palestinian(!) eyewitnesses corroborated the IDF account that just outside the walls of the UN school, contrary to the claims made by the UN rep. that there was no enemy fire coming from the area, mortarmen fired on IDF troops and that they were just returning fire. Nor does it mention that the civilians were killed by secondary explosions from munitions (possibly boody-traps) in or around the school that were triggered by the incoming IDF rounds. But, hey, at least the author has done more to get people to understand the enemy Israel (and the rest of the world) is fighting

WE ALLKNOW WHO IS RESPONIBLE FOR THE CIVILIAN DEATHS IN GAZA, IT'S THOSE DIRTY SCUM DOGS OF HAMAS. NO IF'S, ANDS, OF BUTS ABOUT IT! ANYONE WHO DOESN'T BELEIVE THIS AS FACT, MUST BE IGNORANT ABOUT THE WHOLE AFFAIR BETWEEN HAMAS AND ISREAL. HAMAS STARTED THIS MESS AND ISRAEL KICKED THEIR BUTTS!

Hopefully the Gazans will get tired of their elected officials and do something about it. I wonder when is the next election and if it will be free - I've heard nothing about it. It would be nice to hear Gaza got leaders who liked Gaza more than they hate someone else - perhaps then the region would be productive for all the world to see - they certainly have shown their true colors (Hamas green) since Israel left in 2005..

Hamas and Fatah have been bitter rivals since June 2007, when Hamas launched a bloody coup against the government of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, killing about 400 Fatah supporters and maiming many others.

Gaza residents said Hamas had commandeered schools and other public buildings as temporary detention centers, where prisoners were being systematically tortured.

The Fatah members and eyewitnesses said the detainees were being held in school buildings and hospitals that Hamas had turned into make-shift interrogation centers.

The eyewitnesses said that a children's hospital and a mental health center in Gaza City, as well as a number of school buildings in Khan Yunis and Rafah, were among the places that Hamas had turned into "torture centers."

A Fatah activist in Gaza City claimed that as many as 80 members of his faction were either shot in the legs or had their hands broken for allegedly defying Hamas's house-arrest orders.

"What's happening in the Gaza Strip is a new massacre that is being carried out by Hamas against Fatah," he said. "Where were these [Hamas] cowards when the Israeli army was here?"

A Fatah official in Ramallah told the Post that at least 100 of his men had been killed or wounded as a result of the massive Hamas crackdown. Some had been brutally tortured, he added.

Relatives of Abed al-Gharabli, a Fatah security officer who spent 12 years in an Israeli prison, said he was kidnapped by a group of Hamas militiamen who shot him in both legs after severely torturing him.

At the start of the Israeli bombing campaign, several Fatah prisoners taken to the Shifa Hospital in Gaza were executed as they lay in their beds.

Hamas is a well known social charity organization, building the destiny of the Palestinian people: to be slaughtered for the glory of their leaders on well remunerated orders from Teheran.

Sign a petition to end the Middle East OIl wars including the Gaza War which will start again, and maybe the real reason is the Gaza off shore gas reserves. Enough death and suffering. If no one provides the money or weapons, there will be no wars. Consider signing the petition.

Regardless of who is to blame for local civilian casualties, there is a bigger concern for World casualties.

Hamas, for example, can only fire rockets locally (25 km at the most). Israel, however, can deliver a fatal blow to any country 4,500 kilometers away...

    Who are Israel's enemies?

Israel can strike and wipe out any country within a 4,500 kilometers radius from Tel Aviv.
In a few more years, it maybe able to devastate any country on Earth.

    Damascus, Syria 321.19 Kilometers
    Istanbul, Turkey 1,121.54 Kilometers
    Riyadh, Saudi A 1,421.47 Kilometers
    Teheran, Iran 1,587.43 Kilometers
    Moscow, Russia 2,642.92 Kilometers
    Paris, France 2,907.73 Kilometers
    Berlin, Germany 3,109.25 Kilometers
    London, England 3,555.76 Kilometers
    Mumbai, India 4,061.01 Kilometers

Israel has an inalienable right to defend itself, and the whole world agrees.
But who, exactly, are Israel's enemies?
    Syria?, Iran? Turkey? Egypt?

Does Israel also feel threatened by Russia, France, Germany, and England by virtue of its history of persecution in these countries, where one of them nearly wiped it off the face of the Earth?
If not, why have the capability to deliver devastation to these countries as well?

Is Israel showing signs of persecution complex? Delusion disorder? Does Israel consider the whole World its enemy? Is it Israel against the World?

We should take notice and act because Israel has the ability to unleash Hiroshima and Nagasaki a thousand fold more devastating on any country within its radius.

The fact the Gaza citizens fear reprisal from their own "government", speaks volumes. If this is a "glorious Hamas victory", as they claim, I would hate to see what a simple defeat would be. Bottom line, Hamas goaded Israel into this conflict by launching rockets across the border for years, like poking a mean dog with a stick. It will eventually bite. The Gaza people are ill-served by a regime that is little more than religious extremists who are happy to act as proxy for Iran and Hexbollah and every other nutball Islamofacist. It only gives credibility to a heavy-handed Israel in the process. Only until moderate voices can speak without fear can anything be accomplished. And the so-called leaders (mostly kings and dictators) of the Middle East are as much to blame for the Palestinian misery as anyone. Guility as Bush, even more so. Bottom line. Religious extremism and one party rule only breed ignorance, hate, racism, facism and well, more of the same.
