How many did clintons fire when they got in office? If I remember correctly it was twice as many, but then its always correct for liberals to be held to a lower standard isnt it?

The difference is simple and quite stark. Clinton as did many administrations brought in new people with him at the beginning. Common practice. Bush fired the attorneys for not using their office for political purposes.

Not lower standards, that applies that they even have standards. The correct answer is NO standards, that was there can be no accountability.

I believe I am truely ashamed to be an American these days. Is the media and the wackos going to continue to dog President Bush? If so, why not open some of the long forgotten files of President Clinton?...hmmmm...does being a former Democratic President have anything to do with a forgotten past??

Clinton did go before congress. Why not Bush and friends? Draw your own conclusions.

  • Posted By: bobbie6679 @ 01/30/2009 8:00:39 AM

OH NO YOU DID NOT GO THERE!!! You said Clinton fired every U.S. Attorney. The Attorney Generals (all three of them) during Bush's terms were so corrupt, they had to resign. That is unpresedented. That just does not happen. The entire administration was corrupt, from firing U.S. attorneys that did not agree with the administration to illegally wire tapping ordinary folks. Need I go on, I don't think so.

Let's cut through all this "uncharted territory" nonsense and cut to the chase. Comply or go to jail. We don't seem to have any problem with jailing reporters who refuse to divulge their sources. As gold standards go, politicians barely hang onto the last rung on that ladder.

Talk about stonewall........ Bush was in a corner and decided to do whatever he could to shut up anyone that knows anything.Scooter was granted a 'partial pardon' so he wouldn't have to talk, Alberto Gonzales was thrown under the bus for Rove, now W is throwing everything he has to keep Rove out of the front of investigators.
So what is Rove protecting? BUSH AND CHENEY!!!! Rove knows everything, and until we can get him to talk, they will get away with everything.

Seems to me that Bush is just trying to protect himself from due process of law. We all know that executive privilege is not an ability to be above the law of the land. Congress needs to go after BUSH for his abuses of power. Make everthing he ever did that was illegal, immoral, or unethical PUBLIC RECORD. Anything, even hearsay needs to be put up for public scrutiny. Maybe then he will be more forthright and come forward to defend himself. Maybe then we will get the truth.

aw,they don't have to talk.let's just put them all in prison and throw away the key,.case closed.

  • Posted By: senseandnonsense @ 01/30/2009 7:48:36 AM

As Obama has said, "We have only one President at a time." He's now President. George is not. How, I ask, can George assert a executive privilege when he's no longer the executive permitted to assert the privilege? It's facetious. It's done! He's got no privilege to assert any more than I do as a private citizen.

See Dick smirk. Look at Rove's eyes. Would you buy a car from either of them?

  • Posted By: wildfyre @ 01/30/2009 7:46:49 AM

So if Meirs has already been held in "contempt of Congress", why isnt she in jail. What good is a charge like that if they don't send people to jail for it until they talk. Hey, even local judges put you in jail if you refuse to testify to a supoena. Just please send them all to real jail and not some country club.

Really scary to think such a slimeball was almost a Supreme Court Justice...

Liars, perjurers, criminals; that is the Bush Cheney cast of characters

The shame we all feel when we think of the last eight years will never go away

  • Posted By: NoTimeLikeNow @ 01/30/2009 7:43:26 AM

The Bush administration over-stepped its bounds immeasurably during their tenure, and now wish to continue thier illegal and unprecedented circumvention of our laws. I pray the courts compel each of these deceitful people to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. Let's get the truth out there and on the record. It's a bit late to be trying to cover your own butt at this point.

They should just develope the same ailment that Reagan and Bush senior developed while in office. "I do not recall"-itis. Heck they could even claim ignorance like Clinton did when he acted like he didn't know what sex was. And Yes Mr. Clinton, a blow-job is widely concidered to be a sexual act. Republicans have no monopoly on scandal. The Executive branch doesn't either. The whole realm of politics seems to me to be one big smoke and mirrors act. He said, she said, I got to catch them before they catch me. Start a war to gain ratings, bomb a milk factory to get attention off how ignorant he is about sex, etc, etc. After watching all this, I have learned how to become a Billion-aire. Waste a lot of other peoples money making yourself rich, and let the government bail you out. They will surely do it, because it makes them look good. HELLO! We aren't stupid! It's just more of the sme thing, rich people watching the back of other rich people. I know how China can get out of their slump, start making some really big soup pots, and a lot more of those blue tents, we're going to need them

Should this 'lawyer', this rogue in fact, not be barred from practice and prosecuted for contempt of Congress?

    • Posted By: Sober from Liberalism @ 01/30/2009 7:26:52 AM

Not sure if that would matter. It didn't seem to bother Clinton when he was barred for 10 years for perjuring himself.

i do not think that it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that the previousl administration was the most corrupt ,under handed ,under the table and behind close doors )CHENEY) influenced money robbing ,laundering, offshore bank accounts enrichments ! from oil profits and corporate lobbying money . if you have to ask why and how and for what purpose then you must be living in a world called (perfect) and DICK CHENEY AND EX-PRESIDENT BUSH walk on water ? one can get all the answers on the internet on you tube and craigs list, my space and other blogs such as mother jones, etc, etc, some try to hide there origins and primary sources but if you follow and track the trail you will be surprise to to learn the person saying and talking about what actually went on in the white house and who all was involved in the issued orders that were administerd to whom and why and the threats given if those orders were not followed? yes! UNCLE BUSH HAS SO MUCH TO ANSWER TOO AND SO DOES (THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS) CHENEY you must start with MR .COLLIN POWELL, DONALD RUMSFELD, KARL ROVE, these are the primary individuals who will lead you to the answers you are seeking and you will not like the truth that you will hear!
