GOP is the party of Hoovernomics - the party of NO thanks us rich white bigots are doing fine - the party of let the huddled masses eat cardboard - after 8 years and 12 trillion in givaways to the billionairs while falsely invading countries at the whim of "patriotism" - they are the party of no solutions - nothing but lies to enrich themselves...the GOP is RIP and let's all hope that in 2012 the ticket will be Palin/Limbaugh - going down with the ship..

After this bill passes, the Democrats will have spent 1.5 billion dollars just in the last 4 months. The first 700 billion did nothing and this bill contains virtually nothing in the way of jobs creation. The Republicans spent too many years playing politics at the expense of sound economic policy. If the Democrats want to spend us into bankruptcy, let them do it without Republican help. The next step for the Democrats after this bill passes will be to either dramatically raise taxes or start printing money (which their already talking about). Laugh now, have your fun, but believe me, 5 or 6 years from now the George Bush years will be seen as the good ol' days.

      Ebtes,
Way to pay attention. The first 700 billion hasn't been spent yet, it was proposed and mismanaged by a Republican, and the stimulus plan coming up is has large chucks as tax breaks. Go listen to more conservative radio before you get tainted with pesky facts and get kicked out of the delusional people club.

So anyone who opposes legislation based on their principles, when those principles do not line up with President Obama has and anti-Obama strategy? How arrogant of you! Shouldn't our representatives represent the principles of their constituants?

Eleanor Clift is a third-rate liberal hack. A shrewish, shrieking ineffectual feminist and perfect example of the hypocrisy of the left. Three or four people in Washington read her.

It sounds like Eleanor Cliff is a mouthpeice for the Democratic Party. Why doesn't she admit it and then we can go from there. Did she honestly expect the Republican Party to roll over and vote just because the democrats think that he is the great savior? Newsweek used to be a good magazine.....

I'm no fan of biased media coverage. We all know that dollars drive this business, whether it's CNN or Rush . Aren't you tired of being whipped into an emotional frenzy by these media manipulators? Aren't you tired of the worship of abstract ideology over common sense solutions? I am. Cyber posses and hate mongering do not put bread on the table. ENOUGH. I elected you guys. And I expect you to work together. I expect compromise. You represent ME. Not AIG, no ACORN, not Rush. ME.

The Republican solidarity was NOT directed at President Obama. It was directed at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for their obstinance in including so much pork-barrel spending in the House Bill. Time will tell, but I have to tell you, a solid reduction in payroll withholding taxes would have been a much better mechanism for stimulating consumer spending and creating jobs in businesses.

I'm not a fan of media right now. It's all gonna dry up, and coverage is driven by profit, not objectivity. Fomenting dissenion and drama creates dollars - just ask Rush or Hilary or CNN. This is nothing new. But to allow ourselves to be districated by this fabricated nonsense is pointless, no matter who pubublishes it. We have GOT to pull together on this. Without compromise, we will all fall. There is serious %($*# going on and I'm not interested in what separates us in abstract ideology - I want concrete solutions. So elected representatives, democrat and republican - get together and figure it out. You represent ME. Not Wall Street. Not Rush. Not AIG. Not Acorn. ME. That's right folks, it's all about ME and YOU.

Newsweek articles are all fluff and have no substance. Instead of rhetoric, try facts and logical thinking and maybe you wouldn't be going out of business. Perhaps, just perhaps, the republicans in congress voted against the current version of the stimulus because only $26 billion of it would be made available this year. So even if the republicans bought into the idea to spend instead of cut taxes, what difference does it make since only 3% will make it into the economy this year anyway? That's 1/3 of the AIG bailout. Then there is the issue of the kind of jobs that are created. They must be crazy! They must be partisan! I thought the economy was in peril (like CNN would have us believe with the planet also)and we need immediate action. Does anyone else see the similarities to the Democrat's global warming arguement?

On a totally different note, I really have no idea how you can say that Obama is a popular president. He is a popular man who is president. Time and policy will tell whether he becomes a popular president. Maybe you meant "popular" like in the high school class president kind of way instead of like in the "popular" Ronald Reagan kind of way.
