Aren't these the *** that were dancing in the streets on 9/11? This is what happens when you mess with America!

Why are we in Afghanistan if we don't care about the people. The Russians terriorized them, and then they were mass murdered. Along came the Taliban.
They have not only helped afghanistan but they now they are helping US troops, by killing them too. But by all means, Afghanistan is a great place to live!

The human toll? Do US and NATO know the meaning of Humanity ? Dubious.

The photo speaks all. The rugged terrain is protecting the Taliban, providing them with impenetrable sanctuaries.

The coalition is fighting a losing war, have the leaders not learnt any lesson?

Please, quit NOW to save lives and money, lest it is too late.

Why? Why do we humans continue to act like barbarians killing, maiming, raping, bombing, hitting and abusing our fellow human beings? When will we grow up? When will we complete our development as human beings and then as mature human beings repect other human beings, other species, Planet Earth?

When will we break out of our stupor and see the insanity of brutalizing others?

    Why? When?

when we quitting sitting around complaining & get out and do something. when enough people can agree on peace. But you know there's always going to be those few people who stir up trouble & then others who stupidly follow, getting angry & making hasty decisions without realizing the cost of their actions.

It's a good question. Unfortunately the answer is terrorists are barbarians that cannot be reasoned with. The only option we have is defense, and the only thing they understand is over whelming force. Ugly, but necessary if we are to survive.

I will never apologize, and nor should our president, for defending our nation. Conversely, I have yet to see an Arab leader apologize for 9/11.

No, ,this is NOT how they lived for years! This is how they live after Russia destroyed half the country and then the U.S. destroyed the other half. Wake up, people, like it or not, the U.S. is the worst nation on earth right now, with the sole possible exception of Israel. We're worse than Israel because we spread death and destruction around the globe and no one can stop us, at least, not yet. Unless we change our ways, they will find a method of destroying us. It's a pity but if you read the explanations of our own local "terrorists, they were right! Kiminiski, the Unabomber, the guy who blew up the Murray building, and even bin Ladin. We are the most destructive force in the world. Having good intentions isn't' sufficient when you kill a couple hundred thousand people for no good reason!

    • Posted By: Midori1 @ 07/28/2009 12:22:23 AM

"Having good intentions isn't' sufficient when you kill a couple hundred thousand people" <-- I agree with that part

I don't think the US is a bad nation though. I think it's a very good country where mostly do everything they can to help others. I lived in other countries & I still admire the US the most.

      You are an idiot.

    • Posted By: Montelivision @ 02/02/2009 7:40:51 PM

Robert1234 I'll tell you the same thing I tell ev eryone else: If you don't like it, no one is STOPPING you from leaving the USA and going to Afghanistan, or Iraq, or even stopping you from going to Israel (maybe you caqn do something to make a difference there about your complaints, because you sure didn't bother listing anything you've done in the USA to make changes. I'll tell you what, old son, I don't know ANYONE who thinks the USA is "the worst country in the world" and is still living here. I DO know that what we've done is nothing short of responding to a PROVOKED attack by an out of country terrorist group, and we responded in what our president, military, and myself was an appropriate manner. Killing terrorist groups who have killed in our country -- or, at least, keeping them on the run from our military in Afghanistan disrupts the terrorists' lives. They are unable to plan, prepare, train, or acquire the malicious instruments to continue terrorist activities in the United States, or other countries. Now, tell me, what's your opinion on THAT?

    • Posted By: rowhite @ 02/02/2009 4:11:56 PM

Though I don't necessarily agree with your characterization of the US, I whole-heartedly agree that Americans failed to appreciate the latent and tertiary effects of war. A democratic Iraq and/or Afghanistan has diminished value to a orphan or widow. I struggle to find ideological consistency with the Republican positions on war ( and capital punishment) and abortion. Pro-life should be constant, not contextual.

We're hurting too. Our husbands and brothers and sons are dying and being hurt there. But still the war continues. Why? Because places outside of Iraq & Afghanistan were being attacked, people were being hurt and killed, and we want it to stop. No one in America wants for the people in the Middle East to be hurt or killed. The fighting has to stop though in order for the Americans, British, & other soldiers to leave. Until then, this will probably continue for 5+ years.
I understand that religion is important. It is important to me & I also want to live a good and pure life. However, killing other people is not the right way to do it. It wasn't right for the Chirstians to to do that during the Crusades, and it isn't right for the Muslims to do that now. *Note that not all Chirstians and not all Muslims take part in these extreme and hateful actions.

I would not pin all the blame on the United States as to why Afghanistan is suffering so much. Corruption within it's own government along with its alliances with warlords and harboring terrorists is why the Afghans suffer so much. As an early comment stated, we have areas in our own country where the poorest of the poor live. Our people suffer too, our people die too. Corruption happens as a result of very bad, selfish, amoral, decisions made out of self-interest & greed & power mongering & just plain negligence. Karzai should focus on rooting out corruption, not acting like nothing is his fault and his hands are completely clean. If he did that, and invested money into his country's infrastructure/economy/education the Afghan people would live better lives. The U.S. is not at fault for every single thing that goes wrong in this world. Individual leaders of individual countries are responsible for their own people.

Davidschulze,I think these pictures tell the truth. Its easy to say that this was how the civilians lived for many years but has anyone asked what they wanted. What Saddam and Bin Laden did was not right but this unnecessary war made it even worse. Just google in civilian casualty in Afghanistan and you'll know what these pictures really talk about. Its not about poverty. Its about fear for one's life and their loved ones.

    • Posted By: davidschulze @ 02/03/2009 9:13:25 AM

      Katege,
As I stated I just came from there. The pictures may tell how things are but the words are not how it really is. I bet I could find similiar pictures right here in our own country. We have more civilain deaths in our own country each day. In April of 08 there were 45 deaths in Chicago--at least that were reported. That was the same number of American troops killed in Iraq. The war is not causing Afghanistan to suffer. The greed and coruption in the Afghanistan leadership has more to do with the suffering in Afghanistan than the war. Suffering is just a part of the world we live in. Look at South Africa if you want a true example of a continent torn by war.

  • Posted By: katege @ 02/02/2009 11:43:20 PM

Of course its our fault! We've been bombing their country for years. Killed thousands of civilians. Now how are we making their lives better?

    • Posted By: Forty4 @ 02/03/2009 8:32:11 AM

It's our fault? Uhhh, the Tali Ban sponsored and protected the Al Queda terrorists that killed over three thousand innocent people on 9/11. We wouldn't be in Afghanistan if they hadn't done that. Had we not taken out the Tali Ban and completely disrupted Al Queda, would would surely have been attacked again.

Go ahead and sympathize with the terrorists and their sponsors.... however when you apologize for America claiming it's our fault, just remember you only speak for yourself.

Afghanistan has been among the 10 poorest countries in the world for decades...now it's America's fault? Are you kidding?. Write some real journalism, not this convenient pandering, blame-America misinformation campaign. This does a disservice to both countries.

Afghanistan has been among the 10 poorest countries in the world for decades...long before America had anything to do with the place. Why is this now America's fault? Write a real story and stop spreading this misinformation campaign and hate-America speech.

Pictures from 10 or 20 years ago would have looked the same. Afghanistan has been in a state of perpetual war for decades, but don't tell that to the the idiot America haters in this comment section.

My God, these are our brothers and sisters, I know that the majority of them want a good life and are not involved in behavior that has created this problem. The so called leaders are the real culprits in this sad sad situation. They hurt thier own by brain washing the young to be human bomb, they infiltrate country after country on the pretense of thier religion. They are the real infildals, they do not follow thier own religious doct, they kill and mame, they block progress when it is possible. If I was muslem, I wouild seek out protector of the religion and there and only there would I stamp out. People like Osama and his cronies are not the protector they are devils in sheep clothing. This is the reason that there will never be lasting peace in that part of the world, moreover, and more and more we see thier influence spreading from country to country. We need to practice the Star Trek answer. Build a force field to surround them
