The New No. 3?
October 17, 2009

CLARIFICATION (published Nov. 2, 2009): This story cited an AP report saying that U.S. intelligence officials knew of indirect contact between alleged terrorist Najibullah Zazi and Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, a veteran Egyptian jihadist and Osama bin Laden associate (NEWSWEEK sources could not confirm the link). We subsequently learned that, after our print deadline, the AP retracted its story.

QUOTE FROM MIKE ISIKOFF
open quoteHow exactly can the name of a high-ranking Obama official be featured in a corporate advertising campaign? And does that really square with President Obama's commitment to prevent his administration from being tainted by the slightest whiff of corporate lobbying (much less federal ethics rules that forbid government officials from using their office "for the endorsement of any product, service, or enterprise"?)
