What to me is the most dangerous aspect of nuclear proliferation is the use of the smaller nuclear states as cat's paws by the bigger ones. China uses North Korea in exactly this way against the USA, and has every interest in keeping North Korea a nuclear power hostile to the USA: Russia uses Iran in the same way, and the USA uses Israel in a similar fashion against the Arabs and Iran. It is all too easy for puppet nuclear states to be used to strike a first strike against a perceived enemy, while claiming that the principal power is blameless, and thus not having to be held responsible. China is playing this game exactly with North Korea--always stating for public consumption that North Korea must give up its nuclear arsenal and always finding ways of preventing this from happening. This will be how the next nuclear war starts, and there is no telling exactly which of the "big" powers will be the puppeteer behind the straw dog. China and Russia should realize that they are much closer to North Korea and Iran than the US is, and are thus susceptible to manipulation by those soon-to-be nuclear empowered states. The USA will have to accept responsibility if Israel decides to get froggy with the Islamic world. Everybody will have to decide if such a world as is coming is worth the risk to humanity. Governments themselves are increasingly becoming cabals of nuclear gangsters who hold their own populations hostage to the nukes which are controlled by the few. Who is saying anything about that? Not Kissinger, who is one of the nuclear gangsters.

Why these superpowers show double standards on the issue of nuclear proliferation? they help their selcted allies in obtaining nuclear weapons but prevent others to do so for their safeguard.

    the next headline
we were unable to publish new york times as the whole of eastern board vanished when two american nuclear submarines collided with an iceberg pretending to be titanic

the recent submarine accident in atlantic shows it is nato who is more likely to lead to a global nuclear disaster and all the iran pakistan talk becomes irrelevant
people living in stone houses need not to throw stones at others
america should bother about the seriousness of its 2 allies colliding in the mother ocean with two huge nuke arsenals -what a nightmare
    what says MR KISSINGER

The USA, and H.Kissinger with his bloody hands, are they ready to give up their nuclear weapons completely also with the option that Russia and China keep her nuclear weapons.

If No why do the USA require that Iran does not develop any nuclear weapons, nevertheless that Israel, the self professed opponent of Iran, such has and develops further.

The USA are not a neutral and objective arbitrator. The object of the USA is to dominate the Middle East and to control the Oil production.

    How about Israel Mr. Kissenger

  • Posted By: Rufusd @ 02/11/2009 12:41:46 PM

Come now Henry, you have mentioned Iran, South Korea, Pakistan and India. What about Israel. What about Israel's threat of the Samson Option. Let's face it, mollycoddling of Israel by the United States is the only threat that the world faces today. Israel may be an ineradicable fact of life today and may it prosper. But it should be forced to accept the concept of live and let live vis a vis its Palestinian neighbours as a sine qua non of its very existence.

Your an idiot and I hope a palastinian rocket lands in your lap. All those fancy words and you still sound like a complete moron when your argument is one sided

mr kissinger should recall america has already caused a nuke disaster by being the first terrorist nation to use it on civilians

as you sow so shall you reap as the bible says

i also recall him saying something about grass and pakistan in past
he is a failed beaureaucrat and a dismal and totally inane analyst
he is throwing some more aroows in the dark and it is surprising to see this space being wasted totally on behalf of a zionist who is a terrorist himself

Thanks for your racist propoganda. That must be some long extension cord on your computer to reach the outlet from the cave you live in.
Sorry I didn't mean to assume you may have upgraded to a tent

i think if iran really wanted a bomb it would have had it years ago from the central asian soviet republics who will sell their mother to anyone paying a few bucks
so stop your crap and tell israel to stop piling up its nukes as they might go off one day without warning turning it into sodom and gomoraah

  • Posted By: NeoPoliticus @ 02/11/2009 1:46:03 AM

Anyone who says Iran and doesn't put the word in quotes is a fool. Just which "Iran" are you going to negotiate with? The unstable President? The fanatic Imams? Or the Republican Guard who are the real power?

  • Posted By: johnnydawson @ 02/10/2009 6:16:04 PM

Isn't it strange how the one country that Kissinger neglects to mention is Israel? Should one suppose that the fact has something to do with his role in their acquiring the bomb? Although Kissinger, under Nixon, had a statutory responsibillity to reign in nuclear proliferation, he acquiesced and stalled until Israel got the bomb. He dalyed and obfuscated and gave them the time they needed. And thanks to that the United States has no moral authority to speak to Iran on the matter of proliferation.

There is a word for Kissinsger's fiddle faddling, without which Israel never would have gotten the bomb. It is called treason.

It is too late to put the genie back in the bottle. Nations - not organizations or businesses, but actual national governments - with the ability to safely research and develop nuclear power for any purpose, be it power or defense, should be allowed to pursue that technology. However, they should also be held ultimately accountable for every microgram of radioactive material produced, and should any material find it's way to another nations shores, the source nation will pay a price. Welcome to the club, Iran, Pakistan, India, and North Korea. It's 11 o'clock. Do you know where your fissile material is? With great power comes...

The best thing that we can do to convince Iran to give up its independent nuclear development program is to send in UN investigators into Israel. Force Israel to give up its nuclear capability, and require Israel to have the same UN scrutiny that we want for Iran. Then, no one can complain about unfair treatment. Imagine, an object US policy for the Middle East. That will shock to world!

  • Posted By: Nick - Hampstead @ 02/10/2009 5:34:40 PM

If Mr. Kissenger has specific, verifiable, information about Iran's nuclear weapons, then he should send that to the UN. It is interesting that he is silent on Israel's nuclear program...

a world free of nukes is a pipe dream. any nation claiming to be nuke-free would just be lying, always keeping a few up its sleeve.

The fundamental problem is that the US has lost the moral high ground, no longer a bastion of Christian principles, each nation is now willing to protect its own soveirgnty without the steady guiding hand of a morally compelled America. No longer can nations look at what has been achieved in the US and marvel, we have become no different that the animals of the jungle, so why would anyone want to emulate or lead. There exists no poiotical solution to our current dilema because we have conceded to the law of the jungle. Thee is no vision of the future and where there is no vision the people perish. you can make lofty assertions that we can negotiate a reduction in nuclear weapons by talking to the world and getting there agreement...But the reality is knowledge is power and with everyone holding a gun to each others head the first guy to put down his gun gets a bullet to the Head. Dr. Kissinger should be reminded of his failure in negotiations in Vietnam, it wasn't until his boss Richard Nixon authorized the wholesale pummeling of North Vietnam with the linebacker strikes did this repressive regime acquiesce to our demands and negotiate. In a world of bad guys you negotiate from a position of strength not weakness, you don't put down your arms first and hope your blood thirsty enemies who have sworn to kill you and your allies have a change of heart. I wonder Dr Kissinger if you are just hard headed or dillusional in your view of the new world order. Your policies didn't work in the 60's and 70's and they most certainly won't work in the 00's. I am actually quite shocked anyone listens to you at all.

Hard to credit the man most resposible for the Christmas Bombing and the creation of conditions leading to the Killing Fields with having anything useful to say. Nuclear weapons are dangerous and pervasive, but the threat of Iran having nukes must not be used to justify another foreign adventure by neoconservative elements.

Do you think the Arab world would let Isreal exist if Israel didn't have nuclear weapons as a fall back position? Muslims would love for Israel to have its nuclear weapons taken away. If that happened every Arab country would join together to invade Israel and finish what Hitler started. I wish nuclear weapons didn't exist. I also wish that peoples weren't bent on the annihilation of others just because they aren't quite the same.
