I am very interested in Kindle, but am still waiting for these books to be DRM free. It's just so much easier and "thought-free" when I don't have to worry about DRM and how I use something. The higher the resolution, the better it is too. We are nowhere near true 300-dpi but that's a technical limitation at this point.

Speaking of DRM-free, Amazon does have an awesome MP3 store that is DRM-free with a large selection and often good prices. It would be nice if they had the same thing with books.

On the note about Amazon, I recently came across an interesting table that details the discounts on Amazon at
    http://www.uberi.com

Maybe someone will find it useful too.

Anyway, Amazon appears to be quite serious this time. We will probably see faster advancements in this area in the near future as competition heats up.

So, I'm supposed to take my $350 e-book reader to the pool, to the beach, or use it in the bath tub?

Am I supposed to loan my e-book reader to my mom so that she can read the book I just finished, or is she supposed to buy her own e-book reader and buy her own copy of the e-book, so that I can read something else on my reader?

I suppose I'll be able to make notes in the margins and highlight parts of the text in my e-textbook?

I think we're a LONG way from e-books being usable by most people. Don't invest quite yet. Early adopters are going to get burned on this one.

I have not gotten any of the E Books as yet, I am still waiting. As a Disabled Vet on a very limited Income I am waiting for a better model. I just hope there is a way to increase the type size. I really do love the idea of being able to download books directly to the E Book instead of trying to get to a local library which is small and not well stocked with books.

I own an original Kindle and I love it. I live out of the country and can not get my English language literature locally. I have had my kindle for a 7 months and have over 2GB of books loaded. I find that I have increased the amount of books I purchase and read has increased over this time. With over 2000 books and articles loaded I find that it now is catching up to my print library of over 3000 books in my home. I have read ebooks on my palm devises over the years but this is so much better. Since January 1, 2009 I have read over 30 books on my kindle. I am now looking to buy the new Kindle and converting my 1st unit into a children literature library for my young daughters.
