Back in the day, when there was no such thing as welfare, wic, or child support a woman had better be damn sure she new what she was doing if she got pregnant, because she was on her own (unless a husband was involved of course). Back then, if a woman had 14 children, it was because they needed a big family to work on the farm. If they didn't own a farm, they didn't have that many kids, because they couldn't SUPPORT THEM. It's as simple as that. I think we should go back to the old way of life. If someone wants to have that many kids, it should be up to them to take care of them financially. Other people shouldn't have to pay for a conceited, ignorant, naive, and unintelligent person's mistakes.

I have a simple solution to the problem. The doctor is the father, he put them there, let him support his kids.

My God I really cannot believe that a so called 'educated' person wrote this trash. It is obvious the recession has fried your brains dear. I think you should have a chat with Nadya Suleman about how to get back on track

We all sin, each with our own forms of evil. Yes, when we don't think we'd do the same kind of sin, we feel temporarily superior. But because we are so smart, we know better than to think we are better than anybody else. Just leave Ms. Suleman alone. I'm sure during her "alone time", she and God have had their own talks. We can only hope that the good from this will be revealed soon. We are looking forward to how we can help her in raising her 14 children. If I were in her shoes, I'd be happy to know that there are Christians that are happy to help me out too. We do not mind. God is doing His best in all of those who know Him in a generous and loving way. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Jeanne P. at Emmanuel Church, Paramount, CA

I think the media is obsessed with this story not the public. By the way there is a Great story of people adopting troubled kids in Possum Trot Texas that is not getting coverage but I guess the media is stuck on treating us to the bizzare, instead of the truly wholesome.

Why don't we start yelling about that, then, too? I'm not being facetious, either. I'm saying, it's bringing things like this, & the case you have cited, to light, that gets the attention it deserves -- in this case it deserves the negativity along with her attempts at proferring public sympathy. You should blog about the Texas case -- anything helps. Nothing achieves exactly that -- nothing. Kudos to anyone who can do good, who CAN do good. :)

ouch she already has enough problems with out the ugly comments. I agree I dont want to pay for the kids health care but that is a big problem.all over our country. My favorite comment is, people have more babies to get more state aid, it doesnt pay that well, they have more babies because lack of knowledge. Those people that make those comments have never been in need. We have to change the circle, there is more of a problem than her and all those babies

A fair way to deal with the cost of this litter of babies is to make the MD and the fertility clinic responsible. This birth event was not an act of God but of laboratory technique. Octomom is little more than an incubator. The babies that resulted are human, and as such demand love and care. Make the MD who fertilized the eggs and impregnated her responsible as the father for the cost of the birth and the child support. See if that doesn't change some of the policies of these clinics that think they shouldn't do any screening of applicants.

FYI: Jon & Kate both did have jobs. Kate is a registered nurse who worked in dialysis--she obviously had to take leave and be on bedrest prior to delivering the sextuplets, and I really cannot remember for the life of me what Jon does--something IT perhaps, but I know he has worked consistently. All I know is I distinctly remember Kate working every other weekend doing a 16 hr shift (nurses get bonuses for working on weekends--you'd be surprised how much money they can make with that schedule) after the sextuplets were born but had to quit working to take care of the kiddos. Mind you, they already had twins to support before the sextuplets came along and this was well before they were on TV.

The only reason for those lips are to be wrapped around a male's private member, they look disgusting.

The question is, " Why are YOU, the Media, so fascinated with this?

I think you should mind your own bees wax, and the doctor who did the deed should pay child support. It's that simple.

Raina Kelley, the author of this terrible article needs to be fired. I am sickened by the fact that someone from Newsweek even let her publish such trash. To blame us for the irresponsible decision Nadya Suleman has taken is absolutely sick and twisted. It supports everything good and decent. Who was responsible for the oversight of Raina Kelley? They need to be fired as well. With all the bright people out there unemployed, I am sure you can find someone quickly to fill both of their shoes

The only people intrigued by this sick lady is the media. If you stupid people wouldn't write EVERY SINGLE DAY about her, she would be forgotten. She is stupid, ignorant and can't support the children she already had. Welcome to the good old US of A. THE WELFARE STATE.

    1. so essentially you guys created and funded this problem.
    2. I fail to see why that point would make people hate her.
    3. Uhmm it's called adoption? Why knowingly risk the chance of biting off more than u can chew with no source of income.
    4. What does the offer being creepy have to do with why we hate her?

Snickering and feeling superior? Way to put your opinion on all of us. I personally don't feel that at all, i feel disgusted and sorry for the kids. The case of a terminally ill woman is in no way the same as this. How do u compare somebody that is going to die anyway, to a person bringing 14 lives into the path of death. Wut a crappy article.

I am not as appalled or angry as the folks who are writing here. Yes her situation is unfortunate and she probably has some mental issues but we should not turn our back on those children. Where are all those bible thumpin prolifers now?? I would much rather have my tax money going to clothe and feed her children than on the useless war in Iraq or in the pockets of greedy bankers. As for the 24/7 news on her every move ? That I believe we have begged for as a nation of superficial and unconcerned people. Why should the media offer us an interesting and imporatnt story of issues such as genocide ( Sudan) when we want to hear about Lindsay Lohan showing us her Brittany in a drunken stupor. So instead of sending death threats, try sending clothes or food to help the children. Otherwise go back to watching Jerry Springer. Come on you know you want to.

There are communities all around the country whre people have babies like rabbits - maybe one at a time but no less if the media put effot into this type of story I believe the findings would make us sick regarding the number of single mom families dependent on the welfare system. Sadly our media has sensationalized this and those of us who act responsibly find it shocking; and of course octuplets are nearly unheard of. Are pistons miss-firing in Nadya? Yes. Should she have had ANY more - No; but the fact is they are here. I hope Nadya chooses to address her emotional issues and in the mean time thse babies need care and while breaking up families is typically the worst case scenario I hope and pray that these babies are placed in situations where they receive not only "needs" but love and nurturing necessary to develop well-rounded adults.

i don't understand why she is getting too much media attention, there are far more people/kids in worse/serious situation than she is and yet don't get media attention they deserve.... it's a waste giving her this much publicity....

  • Posted By: spernesto724 @ 03/03/2009 9:14:53 PM

I think that this woman is crazy nutz and just plane stupid and all of us taxpayers are going to have to pay for this this is wrong and i think the state should takes those babies and give them to families who cant have a child thats what they need to do because she cant afford to support those babies even if she was to star in a porno or X-Rated movie .

kelly, although educated, is an idiot and her editor is a moron. this piece is not worthy of publication in any thing remotly serious about its journelastic standards. i am interested in this situation as it is another sign of a sick, disfunctional socioty.
moms celeberty status is a result of a media with no legitimite values.... another part of the sickness. that mom is unfit to raise these children is beyond question..... journelists and the state should do their job... properly, discretely and immeditly.

The medias is obsessed. Try not talking about her for 10 minutes and you'll see how fast we all forget about her...GLADLY! Newsasters, tv anchors, written press journalists, ALL should carry the blame for not being able to shut the f*** up about that octumoron and give real news for a change!
