It will not distract the fact that Obama is failing miserably with his financial non-stimulus spending bills with thousands of pork. Look at the stock market and GM. They are going down fast which means that Obama is incompetent and the stock market have no confidence in Obama. Let's blame Bush again. Obama,Pelosi and Murtha wanted the US troops in Iraq to fail and surrender the white flag. They even tried to withold funding of our US troops in Iraq endangering their safety and lives. Pelosi,Murtha and Obama should tried for treason and executed by a firing squad of the US military.

"They are going down fast which means that Obama is incompetent "

I was unaware that Obama was the CEO of GM.

And what does this have to do with a congressional investigation for improper firings?

What Bush should have done is declare martial law and imprison all dissidents in the US. Then this problem wouldn't exist!! You have sympathy for murderers and terrorists then he could have sent you all to Tehran and you could be part of the jihad against America. Maybe there are a few Men out there that understand total warfare and see the wussification of the US. We could move to Russia, you know where you stand with Putin, and you cross the Russians and they come after you. Just like us when we had a backbone!!!

When you can't argue facts argue the law, when you can't argue law berate your opponent. Classic Republican defense tactic.

Get out of my country, Stalinist.

You should move to Saudi Arabia - or maybe, North Korea. You'd fit right in. (I seriously think you're a secret Putin fan, aren't you? And don't you just LOVE Joe Stalin?

Hmmm, Congress claims their offices are exempt from investigation by the FBI but anything in thew White House is open for their review. Talk about hypocrites! This is just white wash in an attempt to cover up the fact they are laddling pork instead of stimulus in the most recent "stimulus" bill.

    • Posted By: basedrum777 @ 03/05/2009 4:35:12 PM

Yeah I'm sure following-up on a subpoena from over a year ago is definitely a planned method to "cover-up" a bill passed in the last 10 days. idiot.

Isn't this like Himmler trying Hitler for war crimes?

    • Posted By: History 101 @ 03/05/2009 10:35:42 AM

You are comparing apples to oranges here buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Posted By: Berserker @ 03/05/2009 10:37:35 AM

But you have to admit in this case both fruits are rotten.

        • Posted By: Osama Bin Login @ 03/05/2009 11:55:03 AM

Not with respect to this case. Obama and his crowd had nothing to do with the improper firings.

          • Posted By: Berserker @ 03/05/2009 3:03:06 PM

My comparison is with regard to types of politicians...ALL of whom deserve to be in jail.

            • Posted By: Osama Bin Login @ 03/05/2009 4:27:17 PM

But if everyone is too corrupt to investigate anyone, as has been claimed, then how do you do that?

  • Posted By: md22mdrx @ 03/05/2009 10:50:41 AM

Yay republicans. Who else would cheer criminal behavior AND the covering up of criminal behavior? Only republicans and other criminals!

    • Posted By: bpp1603 @ 03/05/2009 2:26:57 PM

So, you as a demicrate agree that Sandy Berger should have been hung out to dry when he was caught stealing classified documents? Oh wait, he inadvertantly shoved them down the legs of his pants. That was what was reported so it must be true.

Compaired to a president letting US attorneys go while they served at his pleasure.

  • Posted By: Vote Now @ 03/05/2009 2:06:47 PM

The reason it was illegal to fire them was that bush and rove tried to make them prosecute democrats they couldnt beat in elections. they also were using the justice dept to steal elections in other ways by filing bogus voter fraud charges.
In one case they even locked up a govenor for 9 months that rove had lost 2 in
3 elections. they locked him up one month before the election and the first court that looked at it once let him out the same day and said he committed no crime.
So thats why those attorney were fired it was because they refused to break the law for these bush team.
So let teach these people a lesson you have to win a election
you cant just steal it useing the justice dept as a weapon.

    • Posted By: bpp1603 @ 03/05/2009 2:12:16 PM

Really, you have to be kidding.

  • Posted By: bpp1603 @ 03/05/2009 2:10:02 PM

United States Attorneys are appointed by, and serve at the discretion of, the President of the United States

With that said, what are they hoping to prove? Move on, solve real problems rather then creating ones that don't exist.

  • Posted By: sarahfalcon @ 03/05/2009 2:04:20 PM

It's just too bad that the US public (who paid these official's salaries) are being kept in the dark. As National Coalition Against Censorship Executive Director Joan Bertin writes "We all have a right to know what public officials have been doing on our dime and in our name."

    http://ncacblog.wordpress.com/2009/03/05/the-right-to-know-what-karl-rove-harriet-miers-did-on-our-dime-and-in-our-name/

  • Posted By: bpp1603 @ 03/05/2009 1:56:54 PM

Maybe we should be asking ourself's what the purpose of this is. From my understanding the US attorneys serve by the will of the president. So, if president Bush decided he no longer wanted these people serving as US attorneys, for whatever reason, he had the right to let them go. It may not have been the moral thing to do but it was within his rights.
Why are they wasting time on this? Is there not enough other things for them to spend their time on?
Maybe they should go back and take a look at the likes of Sandy Berger stuffing classified documents down his pants legs to sneak them out never to be seen again. But that would satisfy their base. And that's what this is really all about, just a witch hunt trying to make something out of nothing.

Let it go, move on and address the problems we face today with our economy, our security and the war if Afganistan.

Let???s all forget about being liberal or conservative for a minute and simply ask ourselves, is it proper to dismiss a professional from their position for their political beliefs?

Is that acceptable behavior? Is it the ???right??? thing to do?

Bush convinced us that he was a patriot, but his administration put the good of the GOP before the good of the USA.

I pray to GOD our current president and all that follow never make that mistake again.

We hire our representatives to Congress to carefully consider legislation that is for the good of the whole country. Granted, around presidential campaign time they play hoioky a lot, but this is the beginning of what could be the best chance the Democrats have of really shining and achieving their very ambitious agenda.

But if they continue with their time-consuming tilting at windmills, they will hve time for nothing else but sitting on long tables, yelling at "Bush"'s acolytes. No new agenda, and everything will just stay the was it is.

Wait a minute! No time for anything but television lights! ... Yes, hang that Rove, Get to Harriet, investigate and grill those evil traitorous dogs! Take dix months -- We want them embarassed to the souls of their shoes and probably thrown into those empty jail cells in Guantanamo where they will forced to endure the inhuman brutality of listening to loud rock music.

Yes, take right up until the next election cycle!

Either the government is responsible for its actions, or it isn't.

      Choose.

I am sick of this whole pissing contest. It's my understanding from various press reports, that the people (who were fired) are in the class "that serves at the pleasure of the President". If this is their status, what's the big deal ? Also reported was that Bill Clinton fired all of the people in these positions, shortly after taking office. With all of the problems that we have, that need to be resolved ASAP, this is surely a waste of time and resources!

  • Posted By: Berserker @ 03/05/2009 10:06:54 AM

This hanging idea is alright...but it doesn't go far enough. Consider that Congress exempted themselves from application of the RICO statutes; consider that Social Security would be prosecuted as a Ponzi Scheme if done by anyone other than the government; consider that Congress passed multiple laws that take our money without their having actually read said laws. Take all of the politicians, both Congress and the Administration (past and present) out back and hang all of them. They are all thieves. We would be harmed less if every office was left vacant. IF we are going to have a hanging...lets do it right and get all of them.

    • Posted By: Berserker @ 03/05/2009 10:47:51 AM

Alright...I apologize in advance. My previous comment was based on annoyed cynicism. Now I am really angry. We need to hang all of them and hang them high. I have just reviewed how the senate (lower case...they don't deserve the honor of capitals) just defeated amendments that would have eliminated some of the earmarks on the appropriations bill for the remainder of this fiscal year. Earmarks are thefts in the middle of the night. They could and should have been eliminated, but the majority refused. And now, President Obama has indicated that he will sign the bill even if it has earmarks. I voted for change I could believe in. The President promised he would veto bills with earmarks. He is breaking his promise, and on something that would solidify his support across this country. Can you imagine the government shutting down because of a veto and the reaction to a congress that put their little "Porky" items (to quote Sen. Schumer) ahead of the the country? The President would be a hero, instead a King wearing an imaginary suit of clothes. If he signs this bill (it does, after all, fund THIS year), he has lost me.

Yay. republicans cheering about covering up criminal behavior. What a country we live in! It would be a better place without them.

I think any comment that includes accusations of Hitler or Satan, etc. should be stricken from the article.
Come on, people this isn't 'Top Rush' Day,it's a discussion among concerned equals tyring to noodle our way thru problems! Everyone else is as bright and enraged as you - you're not going to shout them down. You are just another dog taking his turn barking...
If anyone holds themselves above the law then the game becomes ' get me and mine exempt and keep my enemies from becoming exempt'.
If I was a U.S. enemy, I'd like you citizens to waste time on this struggle while you try to hide your destructive deeds from each other. Cheaper than any offensive efforts on my part - fight each other over your own rules!

    • Posted By: Berserker @ 03/05/2009 10:25:49 AM

Unfortunately, your suggestions are riddled with oxymoronic references: "firm foundation" in government; "rational discussion" in government; "keep the sneaks a little more honest" in government. Please. Government spends our money without even reading the bills that spend it. Government runs a Ponzi Scheme (that is what Social Security is, after all), and then prosecutes everybody else (I suspect they don't want the competition). If you actually find this world that I infer that you believe in, let us all know so we can apply of immigration (legal, of course) status.

Still, four documents directly linked to Bush about the US attorney firings are being withheld, again keeping the former despot shielded from any form of investigation. Why is the Obama administration bending over backwards to give Bush deferential treatment? Didn't they read those recently released memos!!!!!????? Bush has much to answer for. And it sickens me that Rove has to be made "comfortable" in order to testify after blatantly ignoring numerous Congressional subpoenas. Congress would've held any of We the People in Contempt of Congress and we'd no doubt be seeing big fines or jail cells.

Again, two standards of justice: the People's goverment holds itself above the law while We the People must abide by the rule of law. Those running our Government should brush up on the Declaration of Independence to understand why an investigation into the Executive Branch is not only warranted but should go forth post-haste, without special accommodations to either the former president or his inner circle. Government "derives its just powers from the consent of the Governed ,,, but when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them [the Governed] under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future. security." Jefferson explained that whenever any Form of Government no longer derives its powers from the consent of the People, that it is the People's right to alter or even "abolish it." Sixty percent of the American people want the Bush administration investigated. The response from our new government should be clear: justice will be served.

I think any reference to Hitler or Satan, etc. should automatically cause the comment to be deleted. Come on, people, this isn't 'top Rush' Day, it is supposed to be rational discussion to noodle our way thru problems, not shout down everyone else! They're as bright and motivated as you; they are not going to be barked into silence any more than one dog outbarks another. In the matter at hand - if the law is not enforced for all, then the game becomes 'who can get themselves exempt'? Want to waste time on that? Or else we set a firm foundation/precedent that NO ONE gets to waive off a subpoena and let the threat of sunlight keep the sneeks a little more honest. Not Republican sneeks, not Democrat sneeks - all sneeks.

A couple of previous comments are way over the top: "Off with their heads" and "hang 'em". The beheading thing would be "unusual" as defined by "cruel and unusual punishment". Hanging, although it might be appropriate for the nature of Bush & Co. crimes, would be just too ignominious an end for one who has held the office of president. No, Bush, Rove and cohorts should be afforded the much more dignified option of facing a simple military firing squad....blindfolds optional.
