Now is not the time to be lecturing our fellow Americans on what they should have done, versus what they did. Yes, many got in over their heads, but none of us are without mistakes! Everyone needs to REALLY look at these pictures! These are the citizens of our once great country being put out on the street. Its devastating! And some of these people, such as the renter, did NOTHING wrong! Someone please tell me what mistake she made by paying her rent to her landlord every month, only to have him/her turn around and default on the mortgage! These photos make me want to cry! None of these people make a big enough mistake that they deserve to be left on the streets, cold, hungry and forgotten! And if you think they DO deserve this, then there is nothing ANYONE can say to change your mind, so I'm not even going to bother. I'm not happy that so many people bought more than they could afford, but the banks/lenders are more to blame than anyone! And theres nothing anyone can do about it now, except come together and lend a helping hand! You may be pissed because your neighbor couldn't afford the house next to you and now its being foreclosed, but they are still your neighbor, and they are still human, so stop treating these people like animals! Maybe we should all do a little more helping and a little less bitching! Okay, I'm done.....

well with the evictions is this. greed. the rents everybody is paying is absurd. what are we renting ? a palace? rents need to be low so that regular people can pay them, apartment owners never worked for them they got passed down to them by their ancestors. tehy have no idea what it means to live from paycheck to paycheck. now the greed is strangling them and tehy blame it on the renters, nice try. i wasnt born yesterday, ladies and gentlemen!

the evictions are rediculis. the big people mess up and they lash back on the regular population. the landlords are punishing the poeple who try to make a linving. the only way they got their property is from inheridancce. they got it from the realtive or family member (passed down) they didnt work for it. wake up! they are too lazy to work. they dont have to, and if they cant get any more money they blame the renters, well, reduce your rent the way i tjused to be, perhaps you can rent out again, greed doesnt pay it strangels you in the end,. they way rents are, what are we renting a palace?

the problem and the formula is greed. how in the world took it from a house years ago perhaps5-g years at the most to pay off your house and how in the world comes the price of a house a regular house from $30,000 to $ 200,000 300,000 and so on. i din,t know that after 30,000 comes 200,000 well, not when i went to school. maby i came from another planet whre aour mathskills are different, who knows, all i know is this. its the banks and the lenders fault. and dont come to me with this phrase, well, we make more money. humbug!! we dont .the buying power went way down.the best thing is not to buy if you dont have the money. if i have to pay rent, so be it. banks and morgage companies have too much power. and they need to be strict regulated. get rid of the morgage comapnies and deal with your bank wehen someone wants to buy a house. the local bank knows you. the morgage companies have it so designed so that nodbody can pay off der house anymore. there are not suppose to. the lendes put up a big show, they lure you in these called lonnes. which there are not. its all a show, tehy want your house and your money.

If you're able to pay your bills that's GREAT but that doesn't change the fact that some are NOT able to meet monthly requirements to keep a roof over their head. Many have lost jobs and the savings is GONE! Many didn't even have a chance to save because they were in over their heads. I bet "consertist" that posted below would like to see all the people who don't have the money on the street with no relief until they find a job, work and get the money, while he has a nice warm house because he can pay his bills. Here's a news flash, it's hard right now and it's going to get even harder before it gets better. We are supposed to help others NOT tear them down and make them feel worse about situations that many of them had no control over. If your pockets have always been full, that's GREAT but everyone doesn't have that luxury or stewardship. Some have made mistakes... does that mean they should be added to the homeless of this country or is it more american to pull together and help keep EVERYONE off the street? If you remember -"don't work, don't eat is in the old testament......there's a new covenant and we are supposed to serve God by serving others.

Add GMAC to the list along with Coutrywide, that started the whole mess.
If the government bailout money had gone directly to the homeowner, with the stipulation that the money be applied to their outstanding mortgage, everyone would have benefitted.; the banks, the homeowners, and the government.

Unfortunately, this country is still controlled by big business and not by the people themselves. Thats the way that it has been for years and there is no reason to believe that it will ever change. As long as lobbyists on Capital Hill are allowed to continue to use their influence for the benefit of those who continue to soak the American public, it will never change. Maybe it is time to ban lobbyists from Washington and every State Capital throughout the land.

If the banks are not willing to help the american people with our tax $ they received from the gov, they can pay that money back and die on the vine like the rest of us.....

  • Posted By: FBSFB @ 03/11/2009 12:24:37 PM

The banks have recieved money because they were ready to go under, why are they receiving our tax $, let them die on the vine, not us. If they are not willing to work with people using our money then why did they take it?

If you don't pay your morgage, the morgager has the right to forclose. I've been there and worked my fanny off to change my ways. I do realize, that Obama has promised everything to everyone. But lets look at it from the side of the folks that make there morgage, pay there bills, and yes even health care. Nothing is free!

I lost my home....because the lender would not work with me unless i paid them $15K up front. After being treated like a delinquent and also being told by one of their account reps that he was "god" as it pertain to my account and the future of my home....I continued to try and provide the documentation requested. In the month of December i submitted the same package 4 times upon request. on January 6th my home was auctioned off....This happenned after the bank had called me the night before to tell me that they had recevied and approved the modification. On January 9th, i received an eviction notice...

We went through the same stuff after our loan was sold to Wells Fargo. We got behind because we couldn't get medicaid for our mentally handicapped son. They were changing meds on him weekly. When we tried to work with the bank they told us to send them one payment and that would stop the foreclosure. We did but still received paperwork for foreclosure.
Then we took money out of our 401K to catch the payments up. By the time the money came in the bank was changing the amount we needed daily till it came up to 15000.00 for 3 months of payments and the payments were only 860.00 a month. So we didn't have 15000.00 to give Wells Fargo. We figured they wanted the house. On top of all that the payment we had sent we later learned had been put in a holding account and was never applied to the house so they foreclosed when we were only two months behind.
WE NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE REGULATING THE BANKS AND PUT CONTROLS ON THEM THEY DO THINK THEY ARE GOD AND THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STOP HELPING THEM. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE ALL OF THE FORECLOSED PROPERTIES AWAY FROM THE BANKS AND AUDIT THERE COLLECTION PRACTICES. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE WORDS I AM UNEMPLOYED!!!!! THEY THINK YOU HAVE MONEY STASHED. HEY IDIOTS I AM NOT BUSH. WE WERE STILLED EMPLOYED AT THE TIME OF THIS MESS. WE ARE UNEMPLOYED NOW BUT OUR LANDLORD DOESN'T THINK HE'S GOD WERE LUCKY@!!!

Here's a novel idea to the home eviction crisis. One that should be shouted from the roof tops. Are you listening Washington?
The homeowner is allowed to stay in his home while the bank has it up for sale. Not ideal, but we all know the banks have given nothing else in this situation. The homeowner would pay a monthly amount based on finiancial ability. That would allow more time for the homeowner to make other arrangements or find a job.
The advantage for the banks would be houses that aren't sitting empty to be vandalized, nor fall victim to seasonal temps that can cause damage to an empty home, lawns mowed, etc. Hopefully the homeowner's would not feel so angry and violated that damaging the home feels like the only power they have.
Come on banks have a heart, get creative, work with these people. You made and are the biggest part of this problem.
The children and pets that suffer from the grownups mistakes need and deserve some compassion.

They wanted the house back so they got it. I am just mad that the government helps the banks and they do nothing but screw people. LETS START SCREWING THE BANKS THEY NEED A TASTE OF THERE OWN MEDICINE AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING WITH THESE PEOPLE WHO COLLECT DEBTS. THEY DON'T GRASP THE CONCEPT I AM UNEMPLOYED THEY THINK YOU HAVE MONEY STASHED SOMEWHERE. LOOK IDIOTS I AM NOT BUSH!!!!!!!!!

Well here's a novel idea for the banks to consider. One that should be shouted from the roof tops. Instead of evicting people on the spot, work out an acceptable and reasonable monthly payment based on the finiancial situation, that lets the homeowner stay in the home while the bank has it up for sale. Not ideal, but we know that the banks haven't given any other leave way. In letting the home owner stay, more time is allowed for alternative planning and a job could surface for that homeowner.
The advantage for the bank, the house is not sitting vacant to be vandalized, doesn't have to be set up to prevent damage due to the season, hopefully lawn, etc is cared for and the house is not trashed or destroyed by the homeowner upon leaving. Come on banks, work with these people. Think of all the children, their pets and neighborhood play mates that are being touched by this. Get more creative and compassionate!

The evictions are going on because for the most part greed. I was going to buy a house five years ago but could see the run away train for house buying going on. People who were buying could no way afford the house and they knew it. But thought they could flip it, or keep it and borrow against it. So now I 'm buying a house that once was over 800K for 240k what it should be priced at. No bail out is needed let it settle out and the house market will fix it self

RE: the housing crisis. How can mortgage companies keep doing this? Who do they expect to purchase these homes that will no doubt, need to be re-habed. to be able to sell to any decent human being, when the very banks that hold the mortgages won't even work with the current homeowners, let alone give out new loans to potential biuyers. How long do they sit before they are taken care of? We've all seen the beat up and damaged houses on the local news channel that just sit, and sit and sit and sit. infested with trash, rotted food, etc. Maybe they can offer loans to the animals that end up moving in. Or, perhaps they are enticing people with predatory loans again to lure potential buyers only to take it away from them if they loose a job or other life-altering predicaments? I thought that this great country we live in is supposed to band together and help one another in times such as these? And how about all of these government programs that are geared to help, has anyone out there been helped yet with their home mortgage with federal money?? I doubt it. More people need to speak out, get angry and exploit the banks that are doing this, especially the ones that are getting federal funding and are not using it in the way it is meant to be, to H E L P!! I have one name that I can give you, how about First Horizon for starters, anyone else care to share??

I can tell you that the banks that we are bailing out will not help anyone...I have been working with Chase for the last 6 months on loan modifications, I was told that it was up to me to keep up with status, I found myself calling in 2 times a day to get status, alsways getting someone different. On December 22 2008, i spoke to a guy that told me "that as far as my account was concerned he was god"....this guy proceeded to treat me like i was a delinquent...and finally he told me that they would not look at my account unless and until I paid $15K. My home was placed up for sale on January 6th 2009. On January 5th, i recevied a call stating that they had recevied and approved the loan modification... to make the story short....my home went up for sale on January 6th. I was asked to leave the house on Feb 7th. I have made an offer to buy the home...I am still waiting for an answer...
