I think it's obvious to all Americans that Newt Gingrich is the country's biggest jerk.
I think it's obvious to all Americans that Newt Gingrich is the country's biggest jerk.
Boy this is truly fascinating. All of this support for Mr. Gingrich in spite of his failed marriages, accusations believed by millions of American women. This is great. Because today I saw on the news Al Sharpton, Newt Gingrich and Mayor Bloomberg speaking together in support of providing educational support for all American children. As far as I know Conservatives only want excellent education for all Americans if they can be in control of all American children.
They oppose Public Education because the very definition of Public Education allows all children, not the least subject to Conservative ideology. Public Education simply means educate all America children and that is a relatively new idea for Conservatives. They want to control who gets excellent educations by pricing the poor out of modernized schools. They want poor Americans to subject their children to the prices and rules of all Americans, realizing that all children cannot afford vouchers, or even part of the price of a voucher.
I think Newt Gingrich appearance with the hated Black American Al Sharpton reveals Mr. Gingrich intellect. He realizes that as long as Conservatives oppose every political goal that minorities, they will be rewarded with political relevance. I hope Gingrich is smart enough to realize that most Blacks do not care what he says or any other Conservative Republican. When Conservative Republicans start making speeches supporting goals minorities want to be enacted, we may consider taking him seriously.
Gingrich seems to think that Southern Conservative Republicans actual care about winning elections more than complaining, criticizing and denigrating American minorities. Kudos to Gingrich, but he is wrong if he thinks there is even one Southern Conservative Republican that has a heritage of oppressing Blacks since the founding of this nation; he is in for a big surprise. Nothing will make White Supremacists stop believing they are superior to all Blacks. They have sacrificed many lives in support of their beliefs. Newt has no chance of coercing for any reason for Southern Whites to see minorities and treat other people as the Lord said to.
About Einstein, my point is he was not a "white" christain, but non the less was a great man.
He's old school? Your old school!! Wow, you folks have found one thing you can "wine" about because under the cover it???s really about race with you people, pure and simple. You have this mistaken belief that white Europeans are what made this country great, (Einstein was a Jew). Now that I said that, I am going to sit back and watch all the typical right wing comments. The world sees and knows what you are about. Obama will be successful in turning the economy around and during his second election will move to balance the budget. So your next argument will be to split up the nation because Washington has taken your freedom. Whining, whining, that's all you folks are doing. I hope you do get Texas as a separate stand alone nation and take it totally right wing, and then I will sit back and watch it implode as it isolates itself from the global economy because of its racist founding.
Yes, Mr. Gingrich. It is conceivable that the Republicans could take over Congress in 2010. But I have to ask why you would want to, considering that your Party is pretty well out of ideas? Because as currently constituted, all you have in your quiver is more of the same and more ruin for America. But what else can your party ruin? The Republicans have destroyed every financial instrument in the country. Our foreign policy is in shambles. You've blocked every attempt to reforming health care. Your record on the environment is abysmal, and what's more you people seem to be proud of it. Just what is there left to destroy besides Social Security? Why do you want the Republicans back in power?
You are truly old school. That mantra went out the window when your boy (Obama) said a trillion dollar deficit was a good idea. Change we can believe in? If you think that is a good idea, you are in disagreement with the majority of the American populace. You can sling all the mud you want at Bush and company, but now Obama is going to have to wear his own resume and take credit for his own ideas and even a complete dunce can figure out the promotion of a liberal agenda at the expense of a trillion dollar deficit is a bad idea, no matter how much you may love said liberal agenda. I guess what I'm saying, and Mr. Gingrich implied, thank god the president is proving himself to be an incompetent buffoon, It sets the bar pretty low for 2010.
The democrat president, the democrat controlled congress, and the republican minority have been playing the political game of taking care of their special interest groups for so long that they have no idea of how to deal with the realities of this economic crises we are currently in. Their bail-out plans, their stimulus plan, and their budget plan, is proof of how out of touch they really are.
So, let me explain how our American economy works. Part A, we (the American people) by products from people who make products. When we (the American people) don't have money we can't buy products. So, it really doesn't matter how much money you give to banks, auto companies, or any other businesses if we (the American people) can't afford their products. Part B, high interest rates (like high taxes) drastically reduces our (we the American people) spending. As hard as it might seem to credit card companies by having a lower interest rate people would be able to pay more towards their debt, likewise, it is hard for some in our government (not we the American people) to understand that by lowering taxes will actually create for the government more money. Part C. Government funded projects (shovel ready and infrastructure projects) will not create permanent jobs. The US government is already the biggest employer in America and it has never been profitable, making it bigger won't make it better or profitable. The money we give the government, in the form of taxes, is completely mismanaged to the continuous detriment of our economy. It won't cost trillions of dollars. Naturally, democrats and republicans won't like it because trillions of your dollars won't be going into the pockets of their special interest groups. In my stimulus plan I would enact what I call the ???Fair Interest Act???. The ???Fair Interest Act??? is the maximum amount of interest that can be charged for the following; on home loans, on credit cards, on mortgage loans, on personal loans???4.0%, student loans ???2.0%, and other type loan rates will be announced. The FIA will exist for the next three years (or longer). As people start making big dents into their debts they will have more disposable income. They will be more inclined to spend that disposable income because of an absence of high interest rate fear. All homeowners can refinance their existing mortgage. The way this refinancing package would work is like this; 35 years at 4% plus the first 5 years goes towards principle. I would place caps on fuel. A $1.00 cap on jet fuel, a $1.00 cap on diesel fuel, and a $1.25 cap on regular unleaded. This is temporary, at least for three years. This will allow businesses to reduce consumer cost and free up more disposable income for consumers to spend. I would also reduce all corporate taxes to 10% for the next three years I would reduce all small businesses taxes to 5% for the next three years. I would suspend any B2USB taxes for the next three years. There are no deductions for any businesses
Clear thinking Newt Gingrich. Thank goodness for his in put. Get with tt American's.
To accuse the Obama White House of being Nixonian, after two months, is pretty rich, especially coming from a supporter of GW Bush, who filled his administration with actual former Nixon people, like Rumsfeld, who made disastrous policy. I'll say one thing for Newt--he can twist the truth with the best of them. He knows what a guilt-by-association fallacy is, and he associates Obama with every distorted version of Democratic policy from the past forty years, blames the Democrats for everything that has gone wrong over the last few decades, ignores his own party's responsibility for the mess we're in (given the Republicans have had most of the power since Carter, except for Clinton, who left GWB with an enormous surplus), and fails to suggest even one ACTUAL negative outcome that can be traced to Obama's two months of decisions. And does anyone out there REALLY think that Palin or Jindahl (or for that matter Rove or Rush) would be doing a better job than Obama, giving the disastrous state of affairs the Republicans left him with. The people in power don't like Obama, and are doing everything they can to undermine him, for the simple reason that he is trying to give a voice to the everyday citizen, not the CEOS and Wall Street thieves.
The lone Rumsfeld makes for a ''filled '' Bush administration of ''Nixon People''?
Come on. Gergen and Buchanan were ''Nixon people''and they did not occupy any slot in the administration [parking themselves, respectively,at CNN and MSNBC,where they remain]. No Deans,no Haldermans,no Liddys,no Erlichmans.
Yet Obamas new adminstration,to the discomfort of the Left,is packed with Clintonistas, the only thing missing is the presence of Bill himself, who continues to act as shill-without-portfolio for the new administration, already weakened by these serial resignations and the perpensity of his picks to avoid paying their taxes. Pass to ''negative outcomes''and we can list several, all bearing upon American employment.
As POLITICO recently studied, even the mere threat of Cap and Trade and this strange union ''Card Check''deal hatched by the Democrats is increasing unemployment by itself. Power plant construction permits that would have immediately [and ironically for Obama] produced ''shovel ready projects'' from Iowa to Nevada have been pulled by companies fearful that they would be unable to compete in such a hostile atmosphere. Hiring freezes in companies approaching the magic number of ''50-plus'' when union representation can be lobbied for,are shutting Americans out of jobs, and creating enhanced workloads on employees that remain. These are negative impacts, let alone the higher energy prices that will be sustained by Americans should Obama force his deal through.

The worry now is that Obama will create brand new ''disasters''divorced from the prior administration, hence,Finemans worry that ''the establishment'' is ''turning'' on Obama. We are now spending at 1 billion per hour, totally eclipsing several Iraq or Afghan wars.
I believe the base *is* the problem. There is no right; no left *left*. The Republicans have spent us into the firepit with the costs of 2 wars. What is the amount? Something like $10 billion being spent in Iraq each month? The Democrats win; then turn on a dime to spend us into oblivion by basically nationalizing banks. I guess the right is the left. The left is the right. All the same. Spend, spend, spend. We get it. As long as *any* politician can continue to have steak or lobster or sushi each and every night of the week, (at the expense of those they allegedly *serve*) they feel as though they are fine. They don't even *care* how they impact the people of America. The election is over and they are still pointing fingers that it's all someone else's fault. Life for them is always served....on a silver platter.
Well the Republican Party certainly needs to be rebuilt, although Gingrich has a problem in the "bottom up" concept.
How would one go about retraining all the ditto heads that everything they have been told is false and now the party has new things they should believe?
Given the spectacular failure of the American Dream at the hands of these people you would think they would have the brains to go behind closed doors while they rebuild the GOP, instead of playing obstructionist to those who are trying to rebuild America.
The reason of course is because they fear any success in the rebuilding, will only show further just how demented and wrong headed their dogma really is. Obstruction is all they have to protect whats left of the party.
When you struggle as the Republicans have just to find new buzz words it???s clear they have no new ideas, other than to try to force the Democrats to fail as well and continue the failure of America.
Gingrich is quite often wrong in his predictions. In 1993 Newt predicted the country would be back in recession and high unemployment within a year because of the Clinton deficit reduction plan which passed without a single GOP vote. The country went on to realize an era of unprecendented prosperity.
Then there is the Gingrich "scorched-earth" tactics of 1994, where he demonized Democrats at every turn, going so far as to blame Democrats for the Susan Smith tragedy, a troubled young woman who drowned her 2 young children. It turns out, Smith's stepfather, a longtime Republican and leader of a local Christian Coalition chapter, had been carrying on a long term sexual affair with his step-daughter. Ginrgich never acknowledged that fact.

Newt is a grand "visionary", but he forever ceded, in my opinion, the high moral ground-- that he always wants to claim for the GOP-- when he served divorce papers on his hospitalized wife, and then attacked Clinton for his sexual pecadillos while carrying on his own sexual liaison. He constantly tries to carry a mantle of honor, while having surrendered it forever years ago.

I liked your opening line best "Newt retired from government in 1999...." you could have gone on to say "and did us all a favor!" Newt, Rush, Palin, Coulter, Rove...all are likely incarnated from the Nazi party. These are not nice human beings! Newt is not particularly bright, neither are Palin, Rush, or Coulter ...see a theme emerging here? The Republican party wants to be "the party of the stupid!" I say let them be all that they can be, and apparently that's all they can be! While Newt was railing for Clinton's impeachment he was himself having an illicit affair, unlike alot of fellow Repubs, he was at least having an affair with a woman, give him some credit there. This fact alone should disqualify him from running for any office given his own party's family values "claim!" Along with being the party of the stupid we can now add the party of the hypocritical...so we've got stupid and hypocritical covered. It can be inclusive because Palin and Rush also fall into the stupid AND hypocritical category. Who IS the base ...really. Is it the 5% of ungodly rich fascists that Bush claimed were his base or is it the religious zealots who love Palin??? I'm confused, so are the Repubs, so ,we can add confused to stupid and hypocritical...and the list is growing now! I suggest that the Repubs target all those who are stupid, confused, and hypocritical and they've got a party. Gven that criteria, any one of the aforementioed names can be their "leader." No need to thank me all you Repubs as I have just solved your dilemma from the comfort of my computer chair, where it's also not about the base, it's about the cushion, which is the one part of the whole thing that is in constant contact with my ass! So...we can add ass to the list...the Repubs just need a stupid, confused, hypocritical ass.... and again...any one of the above names will qualify!!!!
I have to admit as a moderate republican that I was no big fan of Newt and I don't like Rush at all. The one thing I am noticing is the arrogance of the dems is very similar to the arrogance of the republicans under Newt. I felt the repubs were making a big mistake back then and now the dems are doing the same under Pelosi. People need to remember that the majority of this country are moderate voters. Any swing to far left or right will result in a swing back to the center.
I do agree with Newt on one thing, the base is the biggest hindrance to the party. One aspect of the Newt's argument about Obama's popularity which does not fly is a president can be popular, but have unpopular ideas which are polarizing. The statistics have shown that Obama is popular (which is like a crab pinching Republicans), but his policies are sometimes not well received. People are excited about recovery, but no one likes the road to recovery.
I agree with windenergy. Newt really isn't very bright. If he is the alternative to Rush for leadership, the GOP is in worse trouble than I thought.
You just keep right on believing in your own intelligence and wisdom, Newt. You'll have the Republicans wandering in the wilderness for the next forty years.
Why the GOP considers you an intellect, or an intellectual, is simply beyond me. For brainpower, you can't touch either one of my high schoolers-and you seem incapable of learning from your mistakes.
