For the first time in my life I am beginning to be almost ashamed to be an American. I am totally ashamed that our populace and electorate have elected a president who has no leadership ability whatsoever. It was blatantly obvious that he wasn't equipped to be a president during the primary campaign. Nancy Pelosi pushed for Obama to be given preference over Hillary Clinton during the primary because she knew she would have more power with an Obama administration than with a Hillary Clinton administration. Obama is only still popular because too many of our citizens are about as well informed as the Jaywalkers on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. They are the type who can answer more questions about entertainment celebrities than about anyone or anything involving politics or the history of our country. It is pathetic to watch and hear the stupid answers coming from these college students who are usually Obama supporters. We must improve the education in our schools and teach them that they need to be well informed when they get old enough to vote because their votes can affect the quality and future of our country.

A thumbs up, Morgan, I agree completely. Now, we're beginning to hear about the government making the big wigs at AIG who received bonuses from the company give back the $$$ they received. Personally, some of us feel this is just a lot of hot air designed to distract us from other issues. Congress gave them the money without any restrictions or conditions, now they are screeching about it. Sounds like a plan to attempt to turn our attention away from other important issues, such as the economy downward slide, the mortgage market slump. These are things that the average Americans relate to on a daily basis, and nothing congress does to try to disguise it or to cause us to really believe the issue with AIG is more important than our personal loss of jobs, business' closing, ect. will work. Like we will just forget about not being able to pay our bills or feed our family; even the welfare system has been hit, with employees being laid off, client's subsidy for childcare being cut back. Let them try to tell us how these issues are less important than some rich people being given bonuses they now are being asked to return. Sickening.

The honeymoon is over and now Obama is beating us daily with his tax and spend programs. I am sure all of us will make many friends living under bridges.

The majority of the public has no clue what is going on. They are focused on the NCAA toury. or American Idol. I'm not kidding most people simply tune this stuff out. They are like sheep headed to slaughter.

A decline of +80% since 1/23...What up with that???? Kool-Aid wearing off????

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 37% of the nation???s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-one percent (31%) now Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +6 (see trends).

This is the ninth straight day that the President???s Approval Index rating has been in single digits. Previously, the rating had slipped to single digits just once.

You never cease to amaze me with the level of your two-faced attempts to use any lie, number, or rumor to make your opinion seem logical. Thanks for the usual laugh out loud rant.

Jesus would struggle to fix the mess Bush has got us in, and the author stood by silently while he did it. Obama has been at it less than 60 days and already the Minions of Limbaugh are getting out the torches and pitchforks. I wonder if he could have actually done anything that would have satisfied them. Short of being Bush II.

    • Posted By: star3 @ 03/14/2009 11:03:56 PM

nrocwill, are you even aware that the problems began even before Bush was elected, but they escalated later, and would have no matter who had been elected. Blaming Bush is just an excuse to keep from looking at the whole picture, and having to admit that in order for one lone president to be capable of being responsible for all the things he has been accused of would have taken a lot longer than he was in office, so stop pointing that finger outward, and start pointing it inward, then you may just learn who was really responsible for the mess. By-the way, Bush wasn't in charge of starting the flood back in Noah's day either.

      • Posted By: cok2000 @ 03/16/2009 5:03:10 PM

I dont know your political affiliation but I could not agree with your post more. There are those who will attack former President Bush anytime anyone says anything about President Obama and his administration if it is not said with total admiration. Not only will they attack the previous President but they will attack any and everyone who isnt in absolute awe of President Obama. You can get the same kind of reaction from Bush supporters but not with quite the same meaness. By the way I consider myself to be an Independent and I voted for President Obama.

    • Posted By: jfinchbinder @ 03/11/2009 1:01:46 PM

You have an interesting perspective on our current situation. What have you identified as the top 5 items that Bush did during his presidency that you feel led us into our financial delima?

      • Posted By: it's about the future @ 03/14/2009 7:09:17 PM

I am not prone to say much about President Bush, and a reflective answer to your question might be very long.
That said .... Key response to your question would be that it is not about a feeling, or an idea,
or any kind of movie rolling in the head which is up for interpretation,
but about hard and irrefutable historical evidence, out there and available for all to see.
Sincerely and with thanks for the question.

Howard, I watch you all the time on MSNBC. Your political analysis is always insightful, objective and well reasoned. However, I am now wondering what Establishment you are talking about regarding the President's actions? Do you mean the best and the brightest, who allowed and in some cases caused this mess to happen? If any so called Establishment type is pure enough and sure enough to criticize, then he or she should come forward now and lead us all to the financial promose land. I don't think I am alone in America in thinking that there seems to be far more self interest at the Estblishment level than there is Expertise.. Now is the time to put up or shut up and I think the American people know it!

IIts rather sad that a just liberal progressive politician like Mr Obama had to inherit the mess created by his predecessor and take the flack for it. It seems like the American people are simply using Obama to make ammends with the rest of the world by appearing to shed its unilateral cowboy tendencies to a multilateral pragmatic accomodating one - of which it is not.

Perhaps it would have been better if Mr McCain won , messed up the economy even more, created modern Hoovervilles and bring abject poverty by allowing another Great Depession to occur.

The Republicans needs to understand that the U.S. needs a great intellectual like Mr Obama to get out of this abyss, This is for their benefit as well. By obstucting the Bail out plan they are simply shooting themselves in the foot.
Imagine what would have happened if President Roosevelts New Deal was obstructed by the republicans in the 1930's.

  • Posted By: No apathy here @ 03/15/2009 4:58:01 PM

What do these "Establishment" types want? They, after all, are who are directly responsible for the mess we are in. Nixon gave us for-profit health care, Reagan gave us "trickle-down", supply-side economics and opened the lid of the Pandora's Box of deregulation, "41" gave us 1,000 points of light and little more, Clinton gave us NAFTA and "43" gave us Phil Gramms noregulation, complete incompetence, the Neocon takeover of government and "Compassionate Conservatism" that had no compassion. This meltdown has been fermenting for over 35 years. Obama has been in office less than 2 months. Time for a reality check folks!

  • Posted By: Ladybeans5 @ 03/14/2009 3:13:44 AM

This is why the Obama was the #1 choice of liberal members of Congress.... They don't give him the respect that Hillary would have required. They knew it would be the Congress running the country. They knew they could write whatever garbage they want into any bill and Obama will sign because he can't be viewed as inactive/indecisive, especially when he keeps talking up what an emergency there is.

    • Posted By: star3 @ 03/14/2009 11:15:25 PM

Obama is a figurehead, he was groomed for this role by the ones who are really running things, or trying to. Do they seriously believe they have anyone fooled? Maybe they do have a small percentage snowed, but the major percent of the population know what is going on. My question is how long will it be allowed before that percentage puts a stop to it? Are they just giving them enough rope to hang themselves, or.....?

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 03/14/2009 12:39:24 PM

Here's a quote from a Wall Street Journal article on a recent survey of economists:

"Meanwhile, the economists surveyed this month predict that the economy will shed another 2.8 million jobs over the next 12 months as the unemployment rate climbs to 9.3% by December, up from the 8.1% rate recorded in February. Economists also see nearly a one-in-six chance that the U.S. will fall into a depression..."

It is rather ironic that you would criticize Obama for telling us what we should know, particularly after Bush and McCain kept telling us their happy talk.

  • Posted By: star3 @ 03/14/2009 10:52:57 PM

First you elect a president, then you immediately begin to find fault; happens about every 4--8 years. A candidate makes promises they find isn't as easy to keep as it was to make......and the beat goes on, yeah, the beat goes on.......Well what did you expect? You thought you elected a Mesiah, then find out he has feet of clay, he's just another human who is trying to be everything to everyone, and will soon learn what the others learned.....it's impossible. No matter who is in this high office, they will never obtain the love or respect from every person, no matter what they do or fail to do. In the history of this country, that has never happened, and this time will not be an exception. So accept that, and move on. Even Jesus Christ was not liked, or loved or respected by everyone, which Bibical history states, so why is it that a mere human thinks they can succeed in doing what even God didn't? Yes, some leaders use force, so could God, but that would not be real honest emotion, it would be false due to fear. God does not want that kind of relationship with us, he wants a real one, and America does not want that kind of relationship with our leader either; we want to have the freedom to show what we really feel, not what we are told to feel. I would not think any leader would want that type of relationship either; they would gain the trust and admiration by earning it, and by acknowledging that they don't have all the answers yet, but that they are working hard at finding the solutions to the most pressing problems, and any help or advise anyone could offer which the leader could use to benefit everyone would be greatly appreciated. In other words, complete honesty. We may not always like what we hear, but we can recognize and respect an honest answer. And this is the way it would be in a Utopian society.

Obama recently tapped Jarrett to chair his newly formed White House Council on Women and Girls. Jarrett was widely rumored to be a candidate to take over Obama???s senate seat.

***David Axelrod: Axelrod, Obama???s top campaign strategist, now serves as a senior White House advisor. During the campaign, when asked about the search for a replacement for Obama???s Senate seat, Axelrod told Fox News Chicago, "I know [Obama has] talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." He later retracted the statement

    .
***David Wilhelm: Wilhelm, a former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and campaign strategist for Bill Clinton, served as an informal advisor to the Obama campaign. He was also a superdelegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

***J.B. Pritzker: Obama named Mr. Pritzker???s sister, Penny, to serve on his recently formed 15-member Economic Recovery Advisory Board. Penny Pritzker previously served as the Obama campaign???s National Finance Chair.

    BORN IN THE USA?
Chief justice publicly accepts WND's eligibility petition
Attorney Orly Taitz talks to Roberts, who agrees to read Obama-birth docs

A California attorney lobbying the U.S. Supreme Court for a review of Barack Obama's qualifications to be president confronted the chief justice yesterday with legal briefs and a WND petition bearing names of over 325,000 people asking the court to rule on whether or not the sitting president fulfills the Constitution's "natural-born citizen" clause.
According to Orly Taitz, the attorney who confronted Chief Justice John Roberts at a lecture at the University of Idaho, the judge promised before the gathered crowd that he would, indeed, read and review the briefs and petition.
"I addressed him in front of 800 people in the audience," Taitz told WND, "including university officials, the president of the Idaho State Bar and the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Idaho, and in front of all them, [Roberts] promised to read my papers.".....Taitz is submitting a motion to the Supreme Court for re-hearing of Lightfoot v. Bowen, a case she is working on through her foundation Defend Our Freedoms, alleging some of her documentation may have been withheld from the justices by a court clerk. ........
"I said, 'Justice Roberts, my name is Orly Taitz. I'm an attorney from California, and I got up at 3 o'clock in the middle of the night, flew and drove thousands of miles just to ask you a question. So please give me some leeway," Taitz told WND. "My question is, do you know there is illegal activity going on in the Supreme Court of the United States?"
According to Taitz, the room was stunned silent as she continued, "I have presented my case to you, and you personally agreed to hear this case in conference. But your clerk refused to forward a supplemental brief to you. He has hidden this brief from you. He refused to put it on the docket. Additionally, my case was erased from the docket one day after the Inauguration, two days before my case was to be heard.
"Outraged citizens and members of the media and state representatives are calling the Supreme Court, demanding to have the case reentered on the docket," Taitz told Roberts......
Then she held up the WND petition and continued, "Moreover, here are the names of U.S. citizens who signed this petition and who sent individual letters to individual justices, including you, Justice Roberts, all of them demanding the same thing - that you hear my case in regards to Barack Hussein Obama's eligibility for presidency."...
According to Taitz, Roberts approached the microphone and said, "I see you have papers. I promise you I will read all your papers, I will review them. Please give them to my Secret Service and I will review all of them."
Shortly thereafter, Taitz told WND, a Secret Service agent identified by his badge as Gilbert Shaw accepted two suitcases of documents and ple

    HERE'S SOMETHING NEW: (SADLY)

    1) Reduce permanently 10% of the federal and state work force - those left need work harder like most workers still working are forced to do,

    2) Make all government employees INCLUDING senators, house of reps & the President /VP give up earning any more pension benefits (like most americans no longer have), INSTEAD give them a match of 50% on up 6% of their annual wage they contribute into a 403B plan - USE the TAX savings resulting from the dropping of new pension TO PROPERLY FUND SOCIAL SECURITY FOR THE TAXPES SINCE THATS 10 year from going BROKE

    3) Have the FEDERAL government stop paying 80% for federal employee families health premium - drop it to 50%,

    4) Increase the FEDERAL employee health insurance deductible to $1000 like most private employers now have,

    5) make all senators and house of representatives serve NO MORE than 2 term limits - ends the power of long term senators, etc to force senators, etc to approve EARMARKS on bills alreday released from committee

    6) Go to a flat tax Federal tax program so the IRS audits can stop (laying off 50% of that organizations tax payer supported staff)

    7) after 1st child's birth to a single mom STOP paying for single mom's child birth , offer free sterilization - more than 1/2 the baby's being born in the US now being paid for by the government (TAXPAYERS in other words) and don't give these single mom's, who are abusing the free childbirth /single mom welfare system by having child after child out of wedlock, money to support more than 1 child

    8) NO Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare benefits to ANYONE NOT A US CITIZEN even if their "citizen" child brings them into the US - as are all being done now for NON Citizens!

    9) Give the President Line Item Veto rights

    10) Give life in prison to ANY politician find guilty of any abuse of power or corruption while in office

    11) OUR prisons - lower the taxes to care for the Prisoners - no more coffee or juice, let them drink water at ALL MEALS, feed them oatmeal/toast for breakfast, peanut butter/jelly sandwiches with crackers for lunch and inexpensive stew (easy to make and serve requiring less kitchen labor) And for medicines make them pay the FULL COST of medicine - why reduce their costs out of taxpayers pockets ? I didn't unjustly put them in prison THEY BROKE the law - suffer the CONSEQUENCES

    STOP THE MADNESS

P.S. Anyone running on the above platform will WIN any FUTURE elections, so Go for IT you TRUE AMERICANS!

    • Posted By: bighappy @ 03/14/2009 4:07:55 PM

The problem is, anybody who tries to run with such platform will be isolated from public on early stages, if not "isolated" from life. Both parties will go against.

    Eligibility concerns gaining momentum.....

A freshman representative has introduced a bill to the U.S. Congress that would require presidential candidates to provide a birth certificate and other documents to prove their eligibility to occupy the Oval Office.

Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., filed H.R. 1503, an amendment to the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, which increased required campaign fund disclosure and was later amended to establish the Federal Elections Commission..........H.R. 1503 would "require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of president to include with the committee's statement of organization a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution.".......... if passed, the amendment to election law WOULD REQUIRE OBAMA, just like any other candidate, to provide a birth certificate in ANY FUTURE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS.

H.R. 1503 has been referred to the House Committee on House Administration.

Well...if it passes...I think it is safe to say...PrezBo-Zo Barry will be a one-termer...cause he ain't showing that B.C. Wonder why???
