Sounds like you got ripped off by an agent and not AIG, careful with the comments you make I need help.
The firm's problems may extend to its 'healthy' insurance side.
Sounds like you got ripped off by an agent and not AIG, careful with the comments you make I need help.
The agent was working inside the Washington Mutual Bank and the bank, gave him all our information, about how much money we had to invest. They did not ask for our consent. The agent is a liar and I do not want other people falling into this trap, like we did. This agent was able to surpress all our readout so we were unaware that this annuity was a lie from beginning to end. I need help.
I make this comments, because the agent for AIG worked inside the back of Washington Mutual Bank. Also the bank reveal our information, to the agent without our consent. This Annuity has ruined our lives. I want my story told, so no one ever finds themselves in this situation. I invested with the Idea that Washington Mutual was standing behind AIG. Both big companies. To everyone it sounds like a great investment. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Your already know the story of AIG. I am not an employee and I did not receive a large bonus. I am one of the investors that has been ripped off by one employee that is selling AIG Annuities. This man has ruined our lives. we invested one hundred and fifty thousand dollars In 1994. We were sold a bunch of lies. Here we are fifteen years later still fighting to get our own money. I am contacting all the news sites that have all the information about AIG on their sites. I need help. I am unable to take my own money out of the annuity without paying AIG almost four thousand dollars. In 1994 I had the misfortune of metting the agent for AIG. He was located inside the Washington Mutual Bank. You would think that the bank is a safe place to invest your money. The bank made this man award of the money we had to invest,. Make no mistakes the bank could care less. I am very sure they get their money from AIG.
Our understanding was we receive almost five percent fixed interest for the lifetime of the annuity and that the annuiy had no restrictions about taking funds out if needed at anytime. All lies!!!!!!!! Here we are fifteen years later and years of fighting and suffering and, now we are going to lose our home of twenty-nine years. We are still not able to retrieve our own funds. We cannot believe that one man can have the power over people lives but if you are a employee of AIG you are almost a God, This man has destroyed our lives. I am looking for a Lawyer to help me with this situation. In order to get my money out of this annuity and not have to pay AIG almose four thousand dollars.
The agent was well award that my husband was disable and I am very ill with FIbromyalgia and we both were unalble to work. So we had no income and we were depending on the fixed interest rate money of almost five hundred dollars a month that was going into our checking account every month. So when I finally relized that the agent was a con-man and he lied about every atatement he made. I have been fighting with this criminal for all this years and now I know that the policy renews every twelve months not the four years he had told us to wait.
Now we are out of money and I unable to remove my funds from AIG without paying almost four thousand dollars. I cannot believe they have used my money to make more money for AIG and I am paying for it. Another thing I cannot believe is the government is giving them more money. The government is checking into AIG and that is why I have to get my story out there. I also would like to know of other investors are in my situation. I live in the los Angeles County area and we are desperate to get help to sue Washington Mutual and AIG and lets not forget the con-man agent that should be in jail. I have been through hell and back. Please contact me at (909) 860-4942 during the weekdays.
Do you even realize that many of these executives were brought in after the fall to fix that unit. In fact, the man who heads up the unit was brought over from Merrill and guess what yes, you have to give him money in order for him to take the job since he is good enough to go somewhere else. Who would go there now? You own the company, it is losing value everyday. You can't blame Matt Lauer, who is getting ratings and making money for NBC, for the problems GE is having in their financial unit. Would it make sense not to pay him and then have him go to ABC? No, you would end up hurting the division that is making money! This is a conglomorate and there is plenty of good business units there that are now going to lose value because of the demonization of the parent. This FP unit is a fly speck on the Company as a whole but if we keep this up the whole company goes down along with all value the taxpayer could possibly reap from a sale. Your lack of understanding of how business works is fine, the problem is that Congress shares your ignorance.
People we own AIG! Why are we trying to destroy it? It should be unamerican to bash the good people at AIG who are now working there knowing how bad they are perceived and yet staying loyal to the company. Keeping good employees who see some future in their current roles is the only way we will see any of that money that Congress decided to give to Goldman and France. Remember the people who caused the crisis left! And most of AIG is made up of good, solid insurance units that up until now were making money. But this grandstanding is now hurting that part of the business that had nothing to do with Financial Products whatsoever and which hold the key to taxpayers recouping what the Fed gave to the counterparties! I can't beieve that OBAMA not once mentioned that the 100 thousand employees of AIG in the insurance units that have nothing to with FP, he chose instead to lump the entire conglomorate into one entity!! What a joke!

So what does that have to do with the execs getting $165 mil in bonuses. I think I rather see the USA start over and maybe shouldn't have bailed them out. How about them applies? And be like the rest of the workers in this world.
Maybe then execs will fall back in line with other workers and other execs around the world.
First off there is FDIC insurance, so that cannot occur you bank savings is government insured. Secondly the government money would have been better spent on FDIC insurance than on these execs and many others that are not listed herein such as Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac.
This bailout was for liberal execs and paybacks for the election. Just hope a few cents gets trickled down.
I hope lots of folks saw the entire press conference. I consider it a home run. I do not remember ever having seen a President be so direct and cogent in reponse to questions. This guy gets it.
This is the most mis-leading, un-accurate article I have ever read. Shame on you Newsweek! Are you just trying to slander AIG at sell magizines?
This is the most mis-leading poorest journalism I have ever read. Shame on you!!!
And this close:
Fed chairman Bernanke told lawmakers in early March that AIG ???exploited a huge gap in the regulatory system??? and was essentially a hedge fund attached to a ???large and stable insurance company.??? But is that really an accurate description? Huge regulatory gaps also exist in insurance. ???There is no federal insurance regulator,??? according to a senior government banking official, only individual state agencies. Are we missing something really big here? If so, there might be another terrible reckoning to come.
I mean, really. This is just poor journalism. You can???t just go around (especially in the middle of a financial panic) yelling that the theater is going to fall down in the middle of a show because one dude says so???even though the building inspectors (and most everybody else) say otherwise.
There???s no evidence Hirsh has performed his own look at AIG???s books here. He appears just to take the former Mississippi insurance examiner???s word that it???s a ???house of cards.??? No, the weasel words ???might??? and ???at least if??? and ???I suspect??? do not cut it.
This is a heavy allegation to level at a company at any time, much less when it???s teetering. You just can???t do it with one source. Maybe Gobel is right, but it doesn???t pass the sniff test, and it sure doesn???t pass the bulletproofing test.
What???s going on up there at Newsweek?
This article is completely outrageous.
After Madoff and Stanford, who else? There must have been thousands of white collar crooks (of varying degrees) in the financial institutions worldwide, manipulating their way to richness, yet remain dormant and out-of-reach of the law.
Why is this so? Is it because evidences against the criminals are so well covered that no investigator could have any access to? Or is it because law-makers and law-enforcers themselves are of dubious backgrounds with their own hidden agenda?
What has become to this maddening world? Despite the economic mayhem, the rich turn out to be richer, leaving the poor and the unfortunate perpetually damned and burdened with endless sufferings.
(Tan Boon Tee)
The real question is why these bonus's extent to so many people, and of course just why someone who is incompetent would be entitled to a bonus contract or no contract.
It appears AIG does not share the view these people are incompetent. Failure to perform would quickly end any contractual obligation for bonus payment.
In that light from AIG's perspective these people preformed their task satisfactorily and AIG has the stated intention of keeping this "talent" in their ranks as irreplaceable.
The problem is not the people who got bonus's, it's much much bigger than that, and the bonuses may be to buy the silence of those close enough to know the truth as anything else.
Although it is not clear as to the IP address at this point, it does seem that it was indeed another of the Little Rascals.
Apology to the Prankster known as "40yearR," tendered.
I am sure there will be apologies all around before this is over.
Cheers!
Mark Thieme-40YearR is not a Prankster. I completely resent that and I am asking you once again to put to rest this personal vendetta you seem to have against me. If this is related to that unacceptable comment I made to you a few months ago when you and I were arguing, I have regretted doing that since that day and I apologize. I have wated to apologize but did not want to bring attention to you. I hope you can accept my apology because it is sincere.I showed you I myself held no hard feelings over the comments you posted to me the day I posted that William Wordsworth poem to the poem you posted.
Actually, Pia, there is no need to apolgize tome, although I appreciate the thought.
This is way out of my hands here.
I have not been offended, but others have questions about some of the recent activities on the board and are reviewing everything. Even everything I have posted.
As I said, those without anything to be ashamed of, have nothing to fear.
All will be well.
I'm glad no one has offended you.
How concerned is Mark Thieme about how much he offended you?
How concerned are you that I am offended that he would falsely accuse me, give a snide comment and (limp) implication that I have anything to concerned about my posts?
40-You're right of course, this whole thing has given me a bad taste in my mouth and a headache to boot. Time to call it a day. Good night. Btw-did you like the youtube music?
I though you made a promise.
sounding a tad desperate, Judas.
Report that to your big shot and psychologist friends.
P. S. Paranoid: The promise had nothing to do with you.
Just to set this straight once and for all: Pia has nothing to worry about if she lies low for awhile.
You, Judas, have a double whammy. Pia is going to see some stuff from you that may surprise her... and then so are a lot of people going to read your more, ah, creative, stuff.
You have made a fool of her by patronizing (Missy?) and by coming to her "defense" every time someone upset her.
She has been held up to ridicule because of you and I am sorry about that.
You and I both know it was your bizarre relationship that was on the line when I brought some heat to her.
Sad for her, she stuck with you and now she and you both have lost all credibility and are the subject of snarky jokes around the world.
Did you forget that perhaps more than you and the Little Rascals were reading this stuff? It is there for all to read for the ages, pops.
I'm just the bearer of bad news.
If anybody owes that woman an apology it would be you, but you are too far gone for that.
Ignore that, Spanky.
Bizarre relationship? 40 and I are friends away from the boards. In fact I told 40 about NW last fall and he joined.
PS Just to cut your rotten mind off at the pass, I have never had any interest in a "relationship" with any virtual woman. Don't even know Pia, but I have daughters and if someone treated one of them like you treat her, I would hunt you down.
As it is, exposing you is more fun.
Put your psychologist friends on special alert, ok?
First you make false accusations.
Then you make hollow threats (including if Pia lies low for awhile...).
Tell me about your psychologist friends you have reading ('including mine' says Mark Thieme) the posts here at Newsweek.
As a good friend likes to say: Show me!
One that I am keeping.
Once again Mark Thieme feigns importance. He is better ignored. Please do so.
Good idea.
It's what you merit. You demonstrated that again today.
Your posts speak for you better than anything I could say.
Ultimately, that is what will make the difference.
BTW, I thought you were going to ignore me.
Please get with it.
I am going off the board for awhile since everything is up in the air.
You might want to consider my example.
or not.
Why would I want to go off the board? I haven't done anything wrong to anyone. In fact, I try to keep the peace.
Are you willing to have all your posts speak for you?
Then chatter on!
BTW, you folks are still supposed to be ignoring me.
what's the problem?
Mark-what is wrong with my posts? Have I posted anything degrading to anyone here? This weekend I was in threads with izageek and with paulejb..I feel that I was making progress in moving paulejb over to our side as an Obama supporter. And where have I posted that I am going to ignore you? I will ignore you if you want me to. Mark-you can join our conversation any time. Contrary to what you may assume, you have always been welcomed.
was feeling sorry for you there for awhile.
All your"friends" scattered when the poop hit the fan.
I guess I still pity you when a pop-up character is your truest friend. (40yearR? izageek?? paulwhatever?)
My G-d woman, get a life.
Your orders were to ignore me. Do so, or you will lose even your virtual pop-up buddies.
Can you imagine the loss?
Didn't think so.
Might be a good thing for you to consider as well, about now.
Well Mark, I feel sorry for you as well because my posting on NW seems to bother you for some reason. I do appreciate your concern but you are neither my father, my boyfriend nor my husband. Again, thank you for your concern, but not to worry, I can take care of myself. I do have a life, a very good one and I also happen to have hobbies which include horse back riding among many other hobbies and bantering with people on a political web site. Furthermore, I have been nice to you and you for whatever reason refuse to want to be civil with me.
But I don't suppose you have the integrity to apologize to her, do you Mark Thieme?
40 and Mark-I think that's enough now. This arguing will not solve a thing.
Mark-whoever these people complaining are over what you say is going on here..exactly what is going on that they are disturbed with? Have you seen any horribly offensive remarks, and name calling? Any racist remarks? I looked and saw some minor offenses which are the norm here and on most political web sites but nothing most adults would deem inappropriate. I have visited a few other web sites that deal with subjects of beauty and fashion and some of the members who are females there argue worse than anything I ever read here. Usually the offensive posts are deleted seconds later by any member with a Flag/ delete button. This is a privilege members receive after one year.
If freedom of speech is going to be taken away from posters here on NW, then I suppose Newsweek will be one empty message board.
I will thank you again not to tell me again that I should not oppose Mark Thieme or anyone like him, Pia.
He started this day with a false accusation of me.
He cannot find the integrity to apologize. He lacks it.
Instead, he offers snide comments, and he again boasts about he has important connections and psychologist friends. Only a disturbed person would think that anyone would believe that others believed he would want to expose his own posts, where he got wiggy on you, accused you so viciously repeatedly for hours, and upset you so. (Remember?) Only a delusional would think that such psycholigist friends would be bothered by anything other than his own repeated, relentless, vicious attacks. Of you. You only.
When will you learn that you cannot appease or reason with people like him? It always comes out... again... and again.
40-I understand everything and I thank you for your concern. I'm sorry I interfered with you, I only wanted to spare you anymore grief. This is how we women are.
This is about me you say? Perhaps MT doesn't like me. I accept that. Not everyone is going to like everyone.
Pia- As I've said in emails, don't suck up to whackos.
I know 40 but either way I end up the culprit. What am I doing wrong?
Sucking up to whackos, for one thing.
Your posts speak for you better than anything I could say.
Ultimately, that is what will make the difference.
BTW, I thought you were going to ignore me.
Please get with it.
Without getting into whether you owed him one, Pia, recall that he never apologized to you. And his 'apology' to me was not an apology. You have apologized when none was owed. Mark Thieme has demonstrated something else.
40-I am only trying to keep peace. Also, the comment I made to Mark was unacceptable and I should never have said to him. I regretted that the moment I posted it. 40-I am sorry this happened to yout. I hope you will be all right with this incident.
Pia-

BTW, I thought you were going to ignore me.
Please get with it.
How is it working?
Not good?
Think about it.
Pretty bad.
Snide 'apologies' are not apoologies.
"I never think it's cruel to reveal posters with their own posts... :-)"
Guess you'll get to see how cruel it is, Judas.
I think this needs to stop Mark. Thank you.
I already dared you to show the post about which you falsely accused me in your first appearance today.
I also dare you to post anything I have to worry about.
I also dare your big shot and psychologist friends to review your hours long vicious attack upon Pia.
I also dare you to apologize to Pia.
I also dare you to perform on any of the threats you have expressed or implied today... or any others I might have missed.

"I never think it's cruel to reveal posters with their own posts... :-)"
Perhaps I should dig up the one where you asked me to join you in a 3-some with Pia. I don't even know where it is now, but it seems it has been located by other interested parties.
Careful folks, you have a family audience and some of the people in the family are raising questions about what goes down here.
Mark Thieme- You are mistaken. 40YearR did no such thing. It was another poster. I would rather not say who but he did apologize to me later and said that he was joking. You do remember that I commented something to the effect that I didn't like/agree with the comment. I wish I had a link or the title to the article but I don't. Unless you have a link to the article and 40YearR's comment on that article, then you owe 40YearR an apology. Thank you.
Thank you for defending me Pia, but I wish you had not.
I have the link, but I would not give it to anyone who would make such an untrue accusation.
Now Mark Thieme owes me an apology, and he should go to the trouble of digging up the link to demonstrate that he has the integrity to do it.
You are very welcome 40 and of course I was going to defend you. You did nothing wrong. Again, I'm sorry that something connected to me, caused you a problem.
Mark Thieme-
You owe me an apology.
When you look it up, you will see it was someone else.
Don't tell him, Pia.
40-I am so sorry.
Those with nothing to be ashamed of, have nothing to be sorry about.
Go dig it up, Mark Thieme. Then apologize.
Mark Thieme- I don't know what it is that I have done this time. I was apologizing to 40 in a supportive manner because he and I are friends.
No one else should tell him either.
Let him do the work, and apologize on his own.
I am not doing"the work." Others are doing that.
If I was wrong, I do owe you an apology, but there is enough strange stuff here to go around.
Those with nothing to be ashamed of, have nothing to worry about.
Ahh... "someone else!" Another Merry prankster, perhaps?
You don't deny that it happened?
Those with nothing to be ashamed of, have nothing to worry about.
Mark Thieme-
I have nothing to worry about indeed.
I challenge you to find the post, and when you do, to apologize as you owe me.
No one should help him at all.
Those who make posts as Mark Thieme just has, should stand up and do the right thing.

AIG Iraq? I cannot believe they got involved in Iraq...scandalous Iraq reconstruction...but evidently they did big time:
http://blogdredd.blogspot.com/2009/03/aig-iraq.html
Thanks for posting this Dredd, and I hope you don't mind me reposting.
If you really want an intelligent expose of the AIG scandal - see Frank Rich's Op Ed in today's New York Times.
Will do, thak you.
