    Dumb idea on the Democrats portion. Rather,get the memos out there in full for the ''sunlight disinfectant''[something that Democrats have refused to do for fourteen years with the Waco government memos and documents of which not one page has been released],and reform policy where required. Go for this 'truth commission''schtick,used as a political grandstand while at the same time individual senators and congressmens constituants are seeing their jobs,homes and towns destroyed,and there will be blood,with Americans accusing Congress of playing politics [along the lines of the steroids hearings,while LEHMAN BROS.fell], at the same time unemployment and home foreclosure ensure more poverty,creating a basis whereby the Pelosis,Franks,and Reids can be thrown out of office. The Dems can try this,but it will be a Pyrric victory and even Obama knows this, as he was put over the top by ''purple'' disgruntled Republicans and Independants who will turn on him if this ''truth commission'' becomes an inquisition.[heaped and egged on by Mssrs Isikoff,Hosenball,Olbermann ,Matthews and others of their ideological bent]. This becomes the same reason why Obama and Congress have stepped away from the AWB. They do not desire to anger ''Heartland'' Americans any more than they have already done. Bush will go his way. Waterboarding will be dropped,as will more controversial CIA methods,and Obama will pray that a national depression does not end up being a legacy of his watch.

    If you use the same terror techniques as your enemies such as torture then in the battle for hearts and minds which this will become you lose. You give up your right to say we are better our values are better. Fanaticism comes from poverty, disadvantage and a sense of hoplessness and there being no other way. That becomes the recruiting ground for the extremeists. Encouraging torture as a state policy is self defeating. Interestingly some of the most extreme views now being promulgated anywhere come from the supporters of torture in the US itself - what does that tell you.?

    Mr; Chmp our social life is been like that for hundres of years we have no change almost anything most things no relate with humans change every year but us almost nothing, no matter which part of our world is the same, we speak diferent than others and we diferent way's of food but about our selfs everything is the same the real problem is not the way is our body's the problem is our maind and the more our society increace the more problems we have right now too many problems to solve one of them is about this people, release all is not the solution when they go back they will be like heroes and this will go on and on, The CIA,and FBI they need to work together they like or not the been fall apart because miscommunication one feel is better than the other, in this kind of situation that is not working that way that is the hole problem and if they think we do know we know it.............

    Like AIG, this issue is just another head fake by the Obama Administration. To Wit: Obama and his comrades decry the use of ''torture'' (nevermind that these same tecniques are used on our OWN TROOPS for training purposes) yet at the same time keep in place most of the Bush administrations policies concerning terror.
    Don't think torture is to be used even when there is a clear and present danger? Fine, when this scum is caught on the battlefield, glean whatever information one can from their personal effects-then execute the terrorists immediately.
    See, no torture, no redition, no Gitmo, no problem!

                Maybe the memos you are salivating to see will do just that. We know Sheikh Mohammed had the technique used on him and I also know that cell phone eaves dropping which you oppose prevented some others. Also waterboarding is not torture, nor is sleep deprivation, music blaring, etc... confinement. They produce results by wearing a person down and do not have lasting physical effects like the brutal beatings Mc Cain and others received, they were not beheaded like Daniel Pearl and others, they were not starved (in fact they have been better fed then a lot of americans) Imagine the casualties if any of these attacks had been successful.

            Cell phone eavesdropping and interview techniqes were used to prevent the bombing of the Brooklyn bridge following 9/11. The suspect arrested had explosives, engineering diagrams of the bridge for proper explosive placement to bring the bridge down. The attack certainly would have occurred during rush hour for the maximum kill effect. This is just one incident and I am sure there are many others that remain matters of national security.

      The sad fact is that when you start generalizing all the people the USA has in captivity in regards to the "War on Terror" as members of Al Qaeda you forget about the fact the the larger majority of these captives aren't. It's so similar to the whole Japanese American internment; and so sad when people dont learn from their mistakes of the past. this mindset that if somebody looks of middle eastern decscent then they are the enemy is ridiculous; I know many friends whose families have been American for many more generations then mine and they are of Middle Eastern lineage. Are they not Americans too? Some of these "combatants" were taken from homes on American soil and tortured.
      I'm not saying have personally have anything against torture. Far from it, I would love it if every bad guys wore a black hat so we could easily identify them and torture the crap outta them. But that is not the case, and as long as one innocent American suffers from a policy I personally can't condone it.

      What about American citizens who are taken from their homes on Americans soil that are abducted and held? They don't deserve the same protection as the rest of us because they are.....what.....of Middle-Eastern descent? Smacks of the Japanese American internment all over again. I got nothing against torturing bad people who bad things. I lost a cousin and uncle in the 9/11 attack, and I'm all for blood-for-blood. And if every bad guy wore a black hat and we could identify them easily, then I'd have no problem with it. But thats not the case. (Not to mention that this blood-for-blood mindset, while emotionally gratifying, doesn't provide credible information so in the end actually hurts the cause.)

      This is true, if the world was to hold Bush and his cohorts to the same standards we held Goering and Hess to they would suffer a similiar fate...
