Technically, since the Chinese are doing "so well" and do not really seem to be "dependent" on the US, maybe we should gloat a bit and exhert some of that political power over US companies and encourage them to come back to the US and employ Americans. Last time I checked China and India are really surviving off of our outsourcing. This needs to stop. I'm tired of buying poor quality crap made by 10 year old asians. It's sickening...hello...Obama???? Change this....YES WE CAN!

      When did you check last?
You really believe that China and India are "surviving" off of outsourcing?
And you think that the sun revolves around the earth too? What a bizarre US-centric world view.
Read the article. The US is important, but what the article says is that China and India are still growing. Get that? US shrinking... China and India growing... now how could that happen if China and India were solely reliant on the US?

I have a prediction. In a decade or two, when three of the top four economies in the world are Asian, I will log on to Newsweek, and some pinhead from New Jersey will be holding forth about how India, China, and Japan would be starving if it weren't for the US importing Indian cars and software, Chinese TVs and computers, and Japanese robots, semiconductors, and medical devices. These countries will have moon bases, and still someone from Kentucky will wonder if they have television and hamburgers.

well, if you don't stop buying their products, then they have no reason to stop outsourcing our jobs overseas. The name of hte game is maximizing profits. This is simply GLOBALIZATION in its finest form

Can we in the U.S. stop outsourcing now?

What's called a 'global' recession is in fact shrinking economies mainly in the West, not the East.
    ?????????
if you go to china, observing, inquiring, and interviewing, then you can find that china is hitted by the crisis fiercely, especially the poor people.

What you think in China is what is reported in newspapers. To be honest ,i have not felt the aftermath taken by the globle crisis. We remain a increasing rate of 8%,and we are confident to consum in supermarkets, bars ect.But it still remains a answer whether we should protect ourselves from the huge decrease whithout suffering from any damage.
All in all,it is undeniable that we are more confident in the resession than any other country in the world. And,America will remain an overwhelming superior in all kinds of fildes.
      We need cooperation and confidence.

Interesting analysis, but not the whole story. The USA is not down and out, it is simply retrenching and, though arrogance and BUSH-cheney swagger has prevented this in the past somewhat, learning from their mistakes.
In the new globalized world that is being forged, there is a place for everyone to stake their claim to prosperity. It's about time the world's wealth was shared out more equitably, and it remains a scandal the people still go hungry and suffer such want this day and age.
Three cheers for the new emerging world of shared responsibilities.
