Ignorance and it's Bastard son, stupidity are a far worse epidemic than AIDS.

All of us are born with sinful tendencies. Heterosexuals have lustful thoughts and desires. How may men have wanted to have sex with an underage girl or some one else's wife but chose not to give in and actualize their fantasies. While many give in with disastrous results (ie rape, unwanted pregnancies, abortions) because they chose to satisfy their our sexual needs at the expense of others their actions can never be justified.

Sexual promiscuity, especially homosexuality, has produce some many diseases that have killed or maimed millions of people. Why in the world do we think that are sinful decisions to act outside of godly marriage (faithful man and woman).

Our world, especially the United States which was a Christian nation, needs to turn back to God before
it is too late. Jesus said ???I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

    Wake up world!!

    John 3:16

John 3:16 States: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. I do not see any caveat that says only white, heterosexual, men will have everlasting life. Find another quote or follow this one and be Christian. Love your fellow humans as God does and Jesus showed in his life.

I think it's in a foot note that got lost somewhere along the way. I mean, it had to be there at one point for so many to think this way, right?

        • Posted By: aidenbug930 @ 03/27/2009 2:40:14 PM

this is why so many people hate people who call themselves christians. Jesus came in God's image and loved the world so much that he died for all of their sins. whether you believe or not God does love you. ALL OF YOU. christians need to STOP THE JUDGMENT and love as Jesus did. I do not think homosexuality is right, but am i going to sit here and judge and persecute every gay person, absolutely not. how is that loving? "christians" need to start remembering that it is not their job to judge, it is the Lord's. so good luck and God Bless to this young man, his story shows that if nothing else he is very courageous.

There is no such thing as sin. Never has been. Never will be.

"Christian Nation" Are you frakking kidding? Several of our Founding Fathers were Deists, not Christians. And seriously, do you think an omnipotent deity gives a rat's *** about our politics or national borders? Quit anthropomorphizing that which cannot by Nature be human! "Man created god in their own image"

Read Thomas Paine's "Age of Reason" and "Common Sense"...see just how Christian this nation really isn't. For such loving, Christ-like people you sure fling hate and intolerance.

I revel in my disbelief, for without the shackles of Faith I shall truly know Freedom.

    • Posted By: teqneq329 @ 03/27/2009 1:44:36 PM

The Forefathers of this country didn't not consider or call this country a Christian nation. Most of them thought that religion should be kept far away from politics. Some even thought religion was dangerous. Why is it that most so called christians are so ignorant to true historical facts?

I would like to note here, that in reading; for the most part, the comment's of all the "good Christian's" in this forum, it is quite clear that one cannot disuade with logical argument religeous fanaticism. These people, most of whom have never studied anything at all about the very origins of The Holy Bible, accept it more out of social conditioning moreso than anything else. It is fruitless to argue with them. IMHO, many of them are for all practical purposes little differant than fanatical follower's of Islam; who also "hate" anything outside of the Koran.

One of the greatest human failing's, which creates a "co-dependant" need is to believe in something or someone, outside of oneself. While this is not necessarily a negative in and of itself it does however become so when it is mixed with the fear of other's. it does not matter who or what those other's may or may not be; only that the "other's" are quite differant than onesself. So much so, as to become a potential threat to onesself. Ergo, Fanaticism, which is almost alway's based in religeous belief enter's the picture. This is also one of the most significant reasons that the founding father's of our nation seeked to separate church and state. ....

Once again please forgive any errors in my spelling. I assure you I am fairly well educated and while I do tend to take "Religeon" itself with a large grain of salt, I do believe in GOD! Only one GOD, many, many religeon's though! Think about it!

I think John B. Driscoll is in denial about being in the closet. No one is that angry about anything unless one has been the direct victim of abuse (which then would be a violent crime about control) or unless one is themselves feeling extraordinary guilty of what he projects towards others. Who was that baptist minister, married, with children, preching hell and brimstone about gay men and in fact had a male escort, then was outcasted by his very own church and following for finally coming clean and making piece with God, the first time he ever had piece with God? I feel John B. Driscoll projects his desparate hate because he hates himself, probably since he's gay and can't accept who he is. I hope he makes piece with God. God will forgive him, not for being gay but for denying his own identity with himself.

How wonderful that Shariq has found a loving relationship and is now at peace with his relationship with his parents. It seems that he is at peace, while many others who commented here are obviously not. Please, spread your hate elsewhere.

Here's the deal. I am a homosexual, and I was born that way. I've known that since I was little. I've yet to come across someone who was gay that chose to be that way. it's how we were created. If God or whoever didn't want us around, he would not have created us. And don't give me that crap on how it's a choice God gave us and its a sin. Because the real choice here and the real sin here is those of you who claim to be such good Christians or what have you, but are sitting here doing God's work Judging others and Condeming others. I

Oh Constantine my Constantine your fearful job was done,
    You've Mudered all the competition, the "Pagan's," still on the run;
"Religeon" is here, victim's scream's I hear; your believers grin like fiends
They follow your eye's, you've won your prize; .... "control," your only scene:

But my heart, my soul, my freedom of choice!
My broken life now bleed's so red,
O' Constantine your awful book of dread
your believer's still fell us, ..... cold and dead.

Well ???likeitis??? I guess if you believe in a God you can believe that garbage that you have typed out for all to see. Speaking as a homosexual who was raised Southern Baptist & Pentecostal; it frightens me to see someone who seems educated enough to make a remark in such an ignorant manner. Set down your God and look at the facts, God made me as I am. So if what I am is wrong then God made me that way. But I realize that your God doesn???t make mistakes. That???s why green-eyed people are freaks of nature also. Having green eyes is "not natural but an anomaly within nature." Does this make everyone in the world with green eyes are a "freak" of nature? Does "God" dislike green-eyed people because it is an anomaly that he did not create? Please open your green eyes to reality. If you believe in "God," then you should also believe that he has created a lot of anomalies within nature. Don't you think that maybe attention should be placed on thieves, rapists and murders, for these are some threatening anomalies? "God" has created many things and like it or not homosexuals are on that great list. Maybe this comment makes you sick, repulsed and your head spins around like Linda Blair's on "The Exorcist." Homosexuality is here, and there is nothing anybody can do to change that fact. Maybe you good readers can dip down into the kindness of your hearts and accept this fact. This does not mean you have to like it, but you don't have to persecute others for it either.

GayInAmerica - I am letting my freak flag fly! Thank you. Not only do I have Green Eyes, but also, wait for it.... i have RED hair!!! Whoo I am a freak of nature and I love it! but alas i am not gay...

Let's face it; You can't argue homosexuality; it's a fact that it exists. Leave the bible out of it. In Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus told his followers not to marry and have families because he mistakenly thought they would all see the end of time; then if you had a family you should just desert them. Remember Jesus said to hate your Mother, father, sister , brother wife and children to be his desciple. This is very flawed book is the key to the faith. Some Faith......

If you find this sad to read about then why do you think anyone would care...

  • Posted By: mom23inga @ 03/27/2009 12:53:01 PM

Forget the Bible and what is morally right or wrong. I am siding with the grammatically correct from now on. If you can't express yourself in the written language, then please be quiet. I do understand an occasional typeographical error, but for goodness sake. Wread before you write.

    • Posted By: Jenn241 @ 03/27/2009 1:44:54 PM

Wread? Really? If that was a joke it wasn't funny and you shouldn't "forget the Bible" as you put it.

      • Posted By: justsomeguy @ 03/27/2009 1:50:45 PM

Did you auction your sense of humor off on e-bay, or is it just that she said "forget the bible"?

    • Posted By: justsomeguy @ 03/27/2009 1:24:05 PM

I'm trying to decide if your typo was intentional or not...

I think that most of us are trying to type intelligently, but many people get so fired up on this topic that it becomes difficult. But I do think most of us are trying our best. Does that earn points?

I'm really really glad I'm not a christian. you people are more judemental and hateful than any other group out there. Do they not teach you to love everyone no matter what?

Good lord ...muslim AND gay in united states of america ? dude your goose is really and truely cooked !!!!!

However, even that is not remarkable. What is remarkable is that , based upon his story, there are posh areas in pakistan where normal middle class families live. They are able to date girls ??? (surprise surprise) and he had a father who was calm and composed as he came out of the closet. Wow - the father didn't behead him ?

Pretty amazing huh ? To some of my fellow Americans i mean ....i am sure they are going ...wow ...all that in Pakistan ? Who'd have thunk ?

  • Posted By: Superswt007 @ 03/27/2009 1:41:28 PM

This is very disturbing to read. While I understand that the population of admitting homosexuals is growing, in my eyes it is still a sin. And to see a Muslim man have this perspective I am very hurt. According to Islam, Muslims were put on earth to worship God. It has nothing to do with me being ignorant or close-minded, I'm not either of those things. It is what it is. Homosexuality is a sin in my religion, Islam. And I will not accept this type of prefernce. We should respect humanity so I'm not saying this guy deserves a beat down but his ideas are very sad to read about.

Ugh... Humans... No one creature has given way to more conflict or arguments than us. We're a sad pathetic bunch of irrational beings when it boils down to it. Some one does something contrary to your lifestyle? So what. Ignorance, fear, and hatred on both sides (religious and non-religious) is ultimately going to be the catalyst which ends us in my opinion. Because we're too simple minded to just letting people do what they want to do. What we should be doing is focusing our attentions and directives to helping one another, the world, and learning to be at peace with each other, like we were meant to be. Stopping REAL EVIL, and REAL PROBLEMS! Like criminals and murderers and malevolent men bent on causing true chaos and anarchy. Not focusing our problems on a relatively unimportant issue like this, to the so called "Christians" take a line from our lord Jesus and have tolerance and love for your brothers and sisters, in the end, those of you who point the finger and usually malicious deceitful people who choose to lie to everyone, especially yourselves, and if you think God doesn't see that, your stupider than you already appear to be. And to anyone who bashes religious people, show some enlightenment and reason, you can't argue with self-righteous people, don't fuel to the fire of ignorance with demeaning and snobbery, instead, if you wish to convert the world to your ways, show how without religion, humans are any different (Because so far, humans have failed miserably to show me such.) In the end, humans are the problem, not religion, not lack of it. Learn some respect and compassion humanity. - M.

Does not the Bible itself say, "do not judge....." I am sure all you bible thumpers out there can complete the quote. I think, too the Bible is full of lessons about loving your neighbor, patience, acceptance, etc. How come it is those who thump it the loudest seem to be the first who forget those lessons? I do not want anyone to tell me who to date, who to talk to, who to be freinds with, and how to approach living a good life. In order to expect that treatment from others, I think I need to offer them the same.

    • Posted By: JohnBDriscoll @ 03/27/2009 1:23:21 PM

I won't judge you. I will leave that up to God but I still, and never will, accept the homosexual life style as anything other than a perverted way to express one's sexuality.

      • Posted By: teqneq329 @ 03/27/2009 1:36:03 PM

Idiot is someone who can go and educate themselves but chooses not to. If you take the Bible literally then live every last bit literally. I want you to give up all your worldly possessions to the poor. The Bible does state this clearly. Oh yeah, if you're eating shrimp you're going to hell, wear 2 different fabrics at one time, guess what, you're going to hell. Stop picking and choosing what you want to believe in to back up your prejudice, bigotry and ignorance. GOD IS WAY BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSION, so stop acting like you know everything there is to know about GOD and the BIBLE that was written by men and then translated for mans purposes.

      • Posted By: justsomeguy @ 03/27/2009 1:26:43 PM

I'm sorry, but wasn't the last half of your post, as well as most of what you've put up today a direct judgement against homosexuals? While you may try to argue that you are only casting judgement on the sin, that directly casts judgement on the sinner.

this is a beautiful story. I'm very glad the author will share it with the world and that someday it might inspire others in similar circumstances to come out.
