Not to fault Metallica on this achievement, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame process is seriously flawed in that bands like Rush have not been inducted yet. As you can tell I am a serious Rush fan and they have been denied induction every year. This band has made significant contributions to music from their first album and are still touring and putting out relevant music even after 35 years. Can you say that of The Rolling Stones? Can you say that of any of the groups that are still touring? Metallica could only hope to have the career that they have now if groups like Rush did not exist. Please don't misinterpret this a gripe about Metallica, they are great an continue to push the envelope of a genre that was once deemed "Thrash" and "Speed Metal." I can wait to see you in New York this fall.

Omnius, you are, maybe to no fault of your own, misinformed that the evangelical lunatic fringe are whining against heavy metal music. I am one of many evangelical lunatic fringers who love heavy metal music. Maybe you were not born then, but back in the late 60's/early70's, there were some pioneers in the heavy metal Christian genre. The Rez Band, Larry Norman, Petra, and Phil Keaggy were rockers back in the day.

Very cool. Congrats to the upbeat Metallica band for having their living legend status sealed. Thanks to James Hetfield for being unembarrassed by his role as a family man! I think it's great.
I need a daily dose of Metallica, and that's the truth. I am not their typical fan demographic, at all. Age does not diminish my favor for them, either.

Jeff Beck's late 1960's album "Truth" was the very first heavy metal album. It was a blueprint for Led Zeppelin, the greatest heavy metal band.

Love Metallica! I've loved them since I first heard them in 1983 when I was a teenybopper 10th grader. Nice that they keep rollin'. Keep on rockin' headbangers of the world!

But, hey, has anyone else noticed that most 'official' pics released of the group usually show JUST Lars, Kirk, and papa Het? Where the heck is Trujill-ito? C'mon guys, either Rob is really a member of the group or you're still in your 'hazing Jason' mode.

Wow Newsweek does Metallica? Rock on Newsweek! Great to see a mainstream mag do a positive story on heavy metal. Just goes to show that heavy metal rockers are just as mainstream as the rest of us when they take off their show persona. I sure am loving a rennaissance of heavy metal coming to our country and hopefully the evangelical christian lunatic fringe will stop their whining about heavy metal. Actually I've seen where they now are trying to use heavy metal to attract the younger set. So funny since I remember back in the 60's and 70's how the religious fanatics called rock and roll the devil's music.

    Heavy Metal Rules!

Memories of my school band director a few yarns ago....rudiments, young man; learn and know your rudiments; the foundation and essence of percussion.

The all time heavy weight worl wide champions of metal are getting some more deserved praise. These guys redefined music so many times throughout their evolution. I'm still in awe. Seen them eight times in concert. Loving the return of the Kirk on Death Magnetic. Hope these guys keep playing forever.

I'm one of those viscious meat lovers; but, I really am surprised that Jeff Beck didn't get inducted into the rock hall years ago. He is one of the many guitar legends.

The real story is the fact that Jeff Beck's being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Many of his peers thaink that he's been the greatest living guitarist for the past 40 years. His whammy magic, riffs and tones are inimitable. Jeff Beck masters hard rock, jazz fusion, blues, psychedelic and techo musical genres. Off the stage he's a hot rod builder, an animal loving vegetarian and a landscaper. Jeff Beck's being inducted by the venerable Jimmy Page.

Lars is one of the extremely technically skilled drummers that I have taken notice of over the span of Metallica's heyday. Like a fine wine, they seem to get better with age.
