within the first two sentences this article was wrong. ameica has not had a wonderful history of including people, let alone welcoming people. let's begin with Native Americans, we pushed them away. Brought people from another continent to work for us under slavery for hundreds of years. then we had endless issues with immigrants, most notably the Irish who fled famine only to be persecuted in the United States. you may say that ethnicities are different, but they aren't, they are another way of othering people, just like the controversy over homosexuality. Americans have not been inclined to accept those who are different. "regular" americans have fought and fought against accepting and including people that did not fit the white, middle-class, heterosexual, Euro-American standards. the second sentence of this article is historically inaccurate at best and fundamentally wrong at worst.

they should plan a concert/demonstration with rage against the machine.... just so i can see rage again, and check out this band live. sounds pretty cool, if not at least interesting to hear a bunch of gay guys screaming about being opressed and rejected which is definately a stark difference than the counter parts you typically see. im gonna check this band out. kind of suprised i havent heard of them before.
