I???ve tried to watch his show but I can only do it once or twice a week. I find myself, from time to time, trying to figure out what drives him. Is it conservatism or is it blind loyalty to party or maybe there is a progressive just dying to come out and surprise us all.
But this morning I figured it out, he's a caricature of a buffoon???not an actual buffoon but a caricature of one.
He knows, in his mind, how the memos make the United States appear internationally, he knows that these guys are going to jail too, he knows that there is no way that torture can be justified and the biggest point of all is he knows his argument is devoid of reason.
A true buffoon would defend the policy, but he acts honestly, not knowing any better.
But in this case, he is a make believe buffoon, he knows his position is unsustainable, but he clings to it and then uses his notoriety to try to convince others through bravado and innuendo, by personally insulting those that disagree with him. His arguments are clownish because they have no foundation in sound law. He knows the question is not the efficacy of the policy, the question is was it legal or illegal.
He falls back to his normal attack position, regardless of the facts.
Every aspect of this case is contrary to his current position, he hopes to convince others through fear and coercion, but this time nobody is listening.
Joe Scarborough is a clown, people like him are a bigger danger than Al Qaeda. They are a virus that eats away at sound, reasoned, honest debate. People like him force this country to fight with one hand tied behind its back. By having political fights when the evidence is so clear borders on treason, he forces us to fight on two fronts and that is a waste of time and resources.
