    Why is there no listing of countries in order of "cleanness"? We are told the US is way down the list, but exactly where are we relative to other countries. A listing would have told the story at a glance, saving a lot of discussion in the artlcle.

      You might want to check out the site where the actual list was compiled. at http://epi.yale.edu/Home . You can do a search for any country and get the ranking, plus they ahve a nice interactive map. That will save you the time of extracting any meaningful information from this pretty useless article....
