I and millions of people are already sick of the spdn them into hell of this administration how many bad ideas can one administration come up with I know it is pop to blame Bush but let's be honnest it wasn't bush who caused the housing melt down it wasn't Bush who forced the banks to give bad loans it wasn't Bush who forced the auto industry to make useless cars and all of this tumbled down on the stock market if you had one brain cell you would know all of this most of all it isn't Bush who is spending money like crazy. Face the facts your news againcies have miss guided you. Millions of people were angry at this administration on tea day and not all republicans. Imagine how many will be angery when they get their first democratic energy bill and see what prices are at the stores because of the democratic taxes.

  • Posted By: mac101 @ 04/18/2009 10:12:34 PM

Nobody really cares where the GOP goes from here. They are irrelevant, obsolete, and boring.

I for one won't miss them.

    • Posted By: sandyshores10 @ 04/19/2009 6:57:02 AM

People won't miss the higher prices at the stores the democrats are taxing to pay your welfare or the higher energy bills the democrats bring with their pinky and the brain ideas of hey let's turn off todays energy because we have a new idea that will take 50 years to produce.

  • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 04/18/2009 10:35:27 PM

The GOP ground game seems to be just to rile up their nut job base. While there were many issues presented it was ostensibly about taxes. Don't these nut jobs realize they are the ones getting the tax cuts under this administration?
These are the same people who thought Bush gave them a tax cut and are apparently too dumb to realize their paycheck didn't change one iota, if it did it went down. Americans as a whole lost nearly 20% of their wealth over the past eight years and that has to include the nut jobs as well.

    • Posted By: sandyshores10 @ 04/19/2009 6:54:52 AM

Your silly tax cuts will cost you at the stores you are taxing. I am sure you flunked math because you just don't get the facts. Now add that to your new democratic energy bill and all you got was a big fat hole in your pocket where the money use to be.

Hello, take a poll of those tea party participants on how many of them (or a family loved one) are recieving some type of government assistance and you will see how many hypricits are out there. They want something free and don't want to make a contribution. If a stimulus is not what the people want, then perhaps they are ready to say goodbye to there current standard of living. People need to think about be american, buy american, take pride in being american.

We want jobs not hand outs I am sure you don't get the fact we want our private sector jobs. They pay the taxes not create bigger spending.

  • Posted By: Mad_Ness @ 04/19/2009 12:43:43 AM

Lets face it, At least he is making an effort. TWe are a barrow and spend society. This situations has been building for a long time. We were spending money we didn't have. Credit cards, refinancing our over-inflated home prices and benifiting from Adjustable rate morgages that were eventually going to adjust to a higher rate. The bubble collapses and now you want to blame The President for making an attampt to try and resolve the problem. If he takes no actions, he is to blame, if he takes action- he is to blame. Lets give the Prsident a chance..... We planted a Bush back in Texas and now lets see if we can stop the rippling effects of a busted economy.

Looks like most of the comments are posted by liberals. Seems to be a lot of hatred out there. The liberals won, so why are they so angry? And will they EVER stop blaming Bush? The same old rhetoric is really getting to be tiring.

because left wing loons don't have the brains to know whos fault this economic mess really belongs to? DUH democrats!

  • Posted By: sandyshores10 @ 04/19/2009 6:48:29 AM

I see lots of examples of the left wing media and all of the lies they have been telling. First off it was and it still is the democrats who have made all the bad choices Bush tryed as far back as 2001 to stop this housing mess but if you don't believe me look it up on youtube time line shows Bush. You have been fed a load of crap by craptastic media. The democrats took down housing the banks the stock market and now they are taking down the rest of the USA with endless spending. When you can't believe the media do your homework or you become a buffalo jumping over the cliff of stupidity. We don't need this foolish spending we don't need to democrats to create more jobless people with their pinky and the brain ideas of let's close down our energy suplies before we have one fan blade spinning. You will see your energy costs soar and all of the prices in the USA will reflect this foolish act.

Do I really want to hear comments from the liberal biased MSN on where the GOP should go from here or on what their ground game is??? I DON"T THINK SO!!! I'm so sick of radical left wing news organizations! You can't trust any of them to be unbiased! It's always the radical left wing agenda that they just have to include in any regular news piece. The reporters just can't keep themselves or their own selfish wants out of the story! It's so immature, so grade school! You can take this report and file it in the 360 file with all of your other crappy opinionated, one sided reports that you try to push your personal agenda with! You have no credibility! You can turn in your communications or journalism degree now because it's not worth the paper it was printed on. It was probably some liberal biased professor who slipped it to you under the table anyway.

      Dolson,

You are an example of what is wrong with us. Conservatives are angry and unable to admit wrongdoing. Why would anyone listen to you. Jesus sure wouldn't.

      • Posted By: dolsen @ 04/19/2009 1:20:47 AM

Who is us? You don't sound conservative at all. You think that just because you threw in "Jesus", we're going to believe that you are conservative? You're just another radical lib. coming on the board trying to make republicans look bad. Your not fooling anybody.

        • Posted By: francois1402 @ 04/19/2009 6:46:27 AM

I`m lost. why would the simple mention of the name" Jesus " prove someone`s political affiliation ?

        • Posted By: sandyshores10 @ 04/19/2009 6:35:13 AM

you're right conservatives are angry because they have the brains to be angry. I and many people will never admit that this spending is o.k it is not you make yourself sound gready when you reach into the pockets of our future generations it is not your money leave the future generations money alone we don't need this mountain of debt. Something is wrong with your brain to think this is O.K. When people who have real brains seen the volume of spending they drew a line in the sand and said enough it wasn't republicans or democrats it was people who care about the future of their children and of the entier USA.

      • Posted By: dolsen @ 04/19/2009 1:17:42 AM

Hey listen bozo, you admit when you do wrong and I'll admit when I do wrong! So far, I'm not wrong and as far as I'm concerned, you're what's wrong with the republican party. If you don't think the media is liberal and biased, you're WAY in the minority. Do you actually have an opinion about an issue out there or are you going to waste your time riding on my opinion? I can be fed up with the media if I want to be, it's my right, and don't waste your time telling me that I can't. I've reached my limit with the Obamamania, radical, liberal out of control groups out there trying to suppress freedom of speech and labeling conservatives as terrorist threats just because they can, and because they are feeling pretty mighty and powerful right now. The great awakening is truly coming for this nation. and people like you had better figure out how you feel about what's going on. Time to get off the fence!

        • Posted By: sandyshores10 @ 04/19/2009 6:37:53 AM

You are right the left wing loon media lied. They tried to negate the number to thousends it was millions of people and not all are republicans they are people who care about their future generations.

  • Posted By: WBWilhite @ 04/19/2009 6:13:05 AM

It would have been more accurate and clever to say that the GOP's answer to Hope is Faith. The GOP has FAITH that the Obama crowd will fail. Power always corrupts, and Obama will prove to be no saint.

  • Posted By: francois1402 @ 04/19/2009 6:03:49 AM

I don`t know where the republican party is and i don`t care; in paradise or in heaven, i still don`t care. As long as they stay out of here, i am happy. we know that a bunch of luny conservatives and among them elected officials, are calling for an armed revolution against their own government. We also know that their almighty de facto and spiritual leaders (Rush,Robertson & co.) would not condemn such aberations, to which they are implicit contributors. We don`t need an armed revolution and those who do, must remain invisible and silent.

Let me bigin by saying that I voted for neither Obama or McCain. I firmly believe that there is no difference between the 2 parties. I carefully listened to Obama's Victroy Speech, from Grant Park in Chicago. There is a piece that I felt he was talking directly to me. "Let's resist the temptation to fall back on teh same partisanship, pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your Help. And I will be your president, too." I said aloud, "ok, Obama show us what you got, and my eyes are wide open." I like President Obama and his family, I just disagree on many of the issues. That doesn't mean I want him to fail. I want him to hear our voices. What get me when Bush pushed through the Patriot, it was bad because Bush is evil. Obama not only extends it but expands it and it's ok because he's good? The one piece of llegislation that has all but gutted our civil liberties. No, it's not ok. Bush again pushes thorough FIASA, bad because he's evil. Obama votes for it, after saying he wouldn't and because he's good it's ok. No, it's not ok for the government to spy on me without a warrent. Bush spends trillions, bad cause he's evil, Obama it's ok cause he's good. A bailout, a stimulus is nothing more then a tax on the peoiple. The war. now expanding to include Pakistan and possibly Iran. Where is the outrage from the left? Illegal Immigration (illegal the key word) continues unabated, and no they are not "undocumented Americans." I could go on but I won't. If I diagreed with Bush I was "unpatriotic." If I disagee with Obama I'm "un-american & racist." Don't you see that was the purpose of the Tea Parties to remind our reprensentatives that thiis is a Constitutional Repulic and they are elected to be our voice. 92% against TARP and they voted for it anyways, because they know "what's best for us." No, we can decide what's best for us. This great nation was founded By The People and For The People. With one of the greatest docements of all times The Constitution. There are many us and we're not "right wing nut jobs." And we're as passionate as you. Don't you think those of us who are truly grassroots get that some of the Tea Parties were hijacked by the GOP who are now suddenly the Pary of small government, low taxes. The intent of the Tea Parties was not to bash Obama.. We see right through the rhetoric as should you by both parties.

SOMEBODY WAKE UP!! IF THE GLOBAL WARMING SYNDRONE CONTINUES THEN SOUTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA'S COASTLINE POPULATIONS WILL HAVE TO RELOCATE,WHERE DO YOU THINK THEY'RE GOING FIRST?WOW!IT'S NOT IF IT'S WHEN? ANY SUGESSTIONS ON KEEPING OUR SOVIERGNTY.

  • Posted By: GinnyA52 @ 04/19/2009 4:44:01 AM

Like it really matters what happens to the GOP. It's just a matter of years before both parties are terminated and it'll be a different system, you just wait and see, it's gonna happen al lot sonner than you people think. A different system will be in place, a different way of elections, So many things will be different.

Newt "The Grinch" is playing every hate and bait card he has at his breath so that he spoils Americas Christmas party with its new Saint Nick, Obama. He is a historian and he is using the "Jeramiah Wright Tactic" to get a rise out of the uneducated and miseducated poor white folk who have more hate than love in their misguided hearts. Newt wants to get White Americans riled up and in full hate mode so as to influence ohters by their attractive negativism by contending any and everything nonwhite is not American. It is classic KKK tactics used in the late 1800's and early 1900's to get White Americans lathered up and ready to kill any Black who simply laughed in public. All the "Tea Party" was is a cover for saying we hate this Black President not for his policies, but because he is Black and not half White. I guess the "One Drop Rule" is still in affect in this Grand Ol' Land of ours.

What planet did Charlie Black, a longtime consultant (?) come from? The Democrat Party does not exist any longer. It has been replaced by the Socialist Party and Progressives. For Black to even think that the Democrat Party is so huge and overwhelming to the GOP is another wrong assumption on his part. The election of Obama was not a landslide by any means and more and more people are beginning to realize they elected a man who is taking away their future generations (children & grandchildren) livlihoods and putting them in a category of financial servitude. This whole article is ridiculous because it is based on flawed mentality, by an obvious Democrat who hasn't woken up from the "hope & change" speech. I am not a hard line voter for any one party, but I could smell Obama and his deception a mile away. It has NOTHING to do with his color so don't go there. Obama does not have any experience and is not healthy for this country. He is making mistake after mistake and is making this country look like wimps. The Tea Parties are just the beginning of Americans waking up and saying NO MORE!! Anyone who doesn't mind their tax dollars being shipped off to bail out companies that abuse the money and we are expected to cough up more and more. Somebody has to put a stop to this wild, reckless form of government before we are all owned by the White House and Michelle Obama is dividing the pie up and making decisions on who gets what!! This is obscene and to even suggest the GOP is anything other than a relevant party is what democrats like this author does best. Howard Fineman, you're an idiot!!

Really? Because the GOP spent the last eight years reducing the deficit, right? The reason why taxes will go up for the rich is because someone (guess who) spent eight years in the White House spending all the surplus Clinton left by giving Paris Hilton a tax break and NOT catching Bin Laden. Bush also increased the size of government, what most Americans thankfully realize is that spending is not going up for the heck of it but because we need to kickstart the economy. But don't worry, Obama is not going to start any illegitimate wars, spend our tax money overseas, hand out no-bid contracts to his friends and then lose all accountability for that money like we did in Iraq (like the 12 BILLION lost in 2005 that no one has ever been able to account for).

The GOP has no credibility on this issue left.

  • Posted By: sprues2 @ 04/19/2009 3:13:26 AM

I have seen so many posts from both sides about how this president or that president, left office, with a surplus, especial Slick Willy Clinton.
Whe DDE left office in 1960 the national debt was 2.4 billion dollars Every President, since then had a larger national debt, when he left office, then he did, when he took office, every one!
If you say differently, you are a bare faced liar.

I remember when Margaret Thatcher came to power and the lABOR pARTY WAS SENT TO THE GALLOWS IN mAY 1979. Winning a majority of 46 many thouhgt Labor woyuld be out for years anf they were right. Why? Personality and purpose convincing the country Laborf was owned by the unions. Not u ntil Tony Blair (almost a certain American [President had he been American) came along did the party amount to power. This is the same for the Republicans. Forget policy and concnetrate on finding "that" individual who is capable of commanding an audience no matter what his or her culture maybe. Of course politicians are egotistical but there aagin so am I. Who ever goes to Washington will end up the same way so live with it. The name of the game is "clear out." Out with old Republican thinking and in with new ideas otherwise kiss the fruit from the tree goobye. Tony Blair was a moderate right winger who defied the odds so what are you going to do to be the same?

    • Posted By: stubiesnacks @ 04/19/2009 3:28:56 AM

Oh boy. Really? You're serious? Let's look at the differences between the national debt and the budget deficit. When people refer to Clinton as leaving office with a surplus, they are referring to the budgetary surplus, year on year. This means that, by the end of his second term, the government was spending less money than it was taking in. In order to have eliminated the debt, this surplus would need to have been used to pay down the national debt, which is the summed total of all of the budget deficits (and costs for maintaining said debt) previously run up.

In short, your little post misses the point entirely. I'm glad that your rage is stirred up, though. It's a healthy emotion.

The voters really screwed up when they kept re-electing Republicans to run the country. They ran it alright; right into the ground. Now, the darling of the Republican hate and lie machine, Newt Gingrich, is playing the Carter card to amp up the fear of Obama. As I recall (having actually lived through Carter) he inherited the economic disaster called stagflation from REPUBLICAN Nixon who's price-wage freezes made matters worse. Of course, to Republicans Carter gets all the blame and Reagan gets all the credit. They forget about Nixon and how badly he handled the economy. The Republicans never let the facts stand in the way of a good scary tale to frighten all the voters into electing them to office. The Republicans pray on the ignorance and prejudices of the voters.

Finally, a reporter that sees the tea parties for what they are. A grassroots movement that is growing day by day. Thank you for not insulting us. The crowds would have been 10 fold if more people could have taken the day off of work. It was neither a republican nor democrat protest. I am registered as an independent. We were protesting the government growing day by day and the wasteful spending. Because I could get a day off of work, my friends and co-workers asked me to represent them. The stimulus and budget was full of wasteful earmarks that we do not want to pay for. We do not want to pay for a railway between LA and Las Vegas, or a mouse in a marsh in San Francisco, or tatoo removal in California, or tax breaks for the film industry. That is just to name a couple. It is amazing how blinded people are or are not paying attention to how our government is throwing money that we DO NOT have down the drain. And NO Mad_Ness, the people at these tea parties are not receiving government programs. I have worked my butt off for over 40 years, I will never be able to retire because the government has screwed up social security and what little I have saved is going down day by day. My uncle died in WWII, my other uncles and dad were injured in WWII so that we can have our freedoms and our rights. This government is taking away those rights. And in case you haven't noticed - not much is made in the USA anymore. The jobs have all gone overseas. But I guess you don't care about those things. Otherwise, you would have been out there with us.
