Someone should explain to Rod Moron, I mean Marinelli what NFL parity means. The Lions were bad, but 0-16 bad? I think any other NFL coach would have one at least one game with that team - Matt Millen did a horrendous job as GM, but he didn't coach that team. New Lions HC Jim Schwartz has a brain, so that at least gives him a head start over his predecessor. If the Lions get this draft right (they have the first pick, another #1 @ 20) they can get back into the NFL parity pool and not have the distinction of being truly miserable all by themselves.

Rookies are overpaid, and all teams should be allowed a salary cap discount for veterans who have been with a team since draft day. Dynasties are fine as long as they shift every few years and are primarily a result of draft expertise, not salaries. A good "king of the mountain" makes for exciting opportunities to knock them down. We all watch Patriot games just to watch them lose, just like we used to with Dalls and San Fran. Plus, nothing is more exciting for a home team than to get better each year culminating in a championship won by a team of players who have struggled together over time. We fans are tired of rooting for a team of strangers every year.
