    Re: "Aditya Mookerjee" -- You are indeed right. Gorbachev will, I believe, be seen as the courageous leader of his time. America had no real leadership at the time. Gorbachev was a fortuitous case of the right man at the right time.

    What Me Nemeth did not perhaps tell Newsweek, is that perhaps Mr Gorbachev influenced his position in the Hungarian government, or am I just stating the obvious? If Mr Nemeth could dream in 1988, to make a 'hole in the Iron Curtain', then something was seriously amiss, for Mr Grosz. If Mr Churchill could have exhaled his last breath, secure with the knowledge of Mr Nemeth being in a future Hungarian government as a Prime Minister, he would have resembled a more benign canine at the end.
